Senate 101 - revisions

[member="Mantic Dorn"] - an update to this is needed from the one posted by the previous Leader of the Republic. Please review, and then replace the existing one.

What you need to know about being a senator:
  1. You don't need anyone's permission to post something. If you want to propose a bill, you are free to do so. (Check out the simple guide to making a law!)
  2. Vote in the legislative meetings! Your vote counts just as much as everyone else's if you show up, but you can't do a thing if you abstain.
  3. Do stuff! You are not confined to the Senate itself. As a Senator of the Galactic Republic, you have the right and responsibility to establish relations with other Republic (or perhaps even non-Republic) people. Feel free to work with other politicians, the military, the Jedi, or any of our fine citizens and allies in projects that will help us accomplish goals you are interested in!
  4. Do you want more influence? Be more active! The Supreme Chancellor's authority will increase upon slumps in Senate activity and decrease when the Senate is in full swing. Ministers will be selected by the Supreme Chancellor based on individual activity levels.

I dont see the need to simply repost what she came up with, but this is open for input by all members. Suggestions about improvements are welcomed! And if we find that we need to change something in I can replace the old version with a newer.

I think we should update #4 to read:

Have a question about the validity of a law? Need to get something done in a hurry? Bring it before the Supreme Chancellor. His decision will be binding, so be prepared to deal with it.

Yes yes, we are heading there... we just need those pesky sith to stop harrasing us so that we can actually implode on ourselves, for real this time! :p

[member="Faith Balor-Organa"], yes, I know. That's exactly what I meant! Why waste time in hearings, debates, and long-winded discussions? Come to me and I'll approve or deny it and we can all get on with our lives! I don't see the problem. Except, of course, for the issue of not wanting to give me supreme power, for which, I suppose, a case could be made.
