- Slave-Rigged — The Sepulcher-class has a slave circuit system installed which has shaved a significant amount of the labor that would normally be required to operate this ship.
- Firepower — With a variety of weapon emplacements installed, the Sepulcher-class was capable of unleashing enough firepower to be cause for concern for other capital ships.
- Regenerative Armor — The composite armor plating that covers every centimeter of this ship includes trace amounts of Vitanium, which seals damage from kinetic attacks, which works in tandem with the Animated Metal Sealant via MSE Repair Droids to maintain the hull of the ship.
- Difficult to Trace — The Sepulcher-class was equipped with a location scrambler that increases the difficulty of triangulating the location of this ship.
- Carrier — The Sepulcher has increased hangar capacity to allow it to transport smaller craft, including starfighters.
- Exposed Rear — The aft of the Sepulcher-class completely sufficient covering or armaments to deter enemy harassment from behind, which leaves the strike carrier's engines vulnerable.
- Slave Rigged — Because a significant portion of the Sepulcher-class has been automated, this ship has increased vulnerability to Slicing.
- Maneuverability — The Sepulcher-class does not maneuver well compared to similarly-sized ships.
- Atmospheric Corrosion— While the Sepulcher-class technically has the capacity to enter a planet's atmosphere it wouldn't be wise. The large amounts of Vitanium spread throughout the hull of this ship will corrode in environments with even the most mild amounts of humidity.
Following the success of the Templar-class Armored Gunship, the Federal Cooperative would commission MandalCo, their Hodasal branch, to create three new variants that would use the same hull design as the Templar-class, they wanted: an anti-interdictor, a minesweeper, and a carrier. These would become Project Lateran, Project Teutonic, and Project Sepulcher, respectively.
MandalCo would divide their staff into three teams. The team responsible for developing the carrier would become Project Sepulcher. They would need to drastically change the interior of the ship. They would remove the Shield Force Multiplier, the Micro Fusion Reactors, and surrounding infrastructure. In their place the Mandalorian craftsmen were able to install a ventral hangar at the midsection of the ship, capable of holding two squadrons of small craft. They built a prototype from durasteel and the ship performed well enough to receive approval from the higher ups for the project to move forward.
Once problem that would emerge during the production phase, since the construction of the Templar-class, a couple ingredients that were used to produce the armor plating for the gunship had sky-rocketed. Because of this, the MandalCo team were forced to find a new material to use for the ship’s armor.
Due to budgetary constraints on the project their best option was durasteel. However, they were approached by another division of the Federal Cooperative, the Raithal System Collective, who they had previously collaborated with on the Templar-class.
The Raithal System Collective had developed a new variant of durasteel which had the unique ability to regenerate from kinetic attacks. This was made possible through the inclusion of a recently-discovered material called Vitanium. The new composite material would be comparable to durasteel in price.
Impressed with the concept, the Mandalorian craftsmen would put the material through a couple of rounds of testing in a controlled environment. The material held-up well and the team responsible for the project would move forward with the material.
The first generation of the Sepulcher-class Strike Cruiser would be launched in 786 ABY.
