APPEARANCE:
Seren looks like what he is: A battered lifer who's been behind some impressive bars for the better part of twenty years. He's bald, scarred, and muscled. You'd never know to look at him that he was a Dark Jedi, or that forty years ago he was an accountant and amateur bodybuilder. Life has a way of changing you.
BIOGRAPHY:
Seren Ordavo was born on Coruscant, in 750 ABY, and made his early career out of being unexceptional. A sharp mind and a good work ethic coincided with a phlegmatic acceptance of a thoroughly vanilla life. An only child, his parents passed when he was in his twenties, shortly before his certification as an accountant.
His life went spectacularly off the rails in his early thirties, in 783 ABY, when this balding amateur weightlifter became an innocent bystander to an act of callousness by a rapidly falling Jedi Knight. While rescuing others from the wreckage, Seren encountered the fallen Jedi and broke his neck with strength he hadn't known he possessed. He'd never cared much about the Force one way or another, or noticed that he was Force-sensitive. With the dangers of Force-users in general on his mind, he began researching, and his efforts were noticed by a group calling itself the Tremayne Inquisitorius.
Drawing from ancient records of Tremayne, Brandl, and the rest of the Palpatine-era Inquisitorius, the group sought to keep the growing Jedi and Sith under control. Only after years of service and training, and his resignation from his accounting firm and community gym, did Seren begin to understand the scale of the returning Orders. This was in roughly 793 ABY; Seren was in his mid forties, and Ben Watts and Teferi Efreet had not yet united the Jedi Order any more than Moridin, Apparatus and Disciple had restored the Sith. Still, the Masters of the modern age's Masters were in full operation, and Seren became aware that the Inquisitorius that had shaped his personality and skillset was destined to become a very minor player. He became aware of this in the most forceful way possible, with the kidnapping and brainwashing of his own apprentice during a three-way turf war between two Inquisitor factions and a group of Nadd cultists. The operation involved long-term undercover work on Onderon. Seren killed his apprentice, the closest thing he had to family, and retired.
Or tried to, anyway. Old enemies reared up, and he found himself confined to a Sith prison. Though tortured, he was able to escape, thus beginning a career longer and more formative than his time with the Inquisition -- or his tenure as an accountant, now long in the past. Seren became, of necessity, a convict, and botched escape attempts increased his list of enemies. Of that series, his final escape took place in 808 ABY, from a frigid cell on Ziost. He went to ground.
In 814 ABY, Seren first encountered the very young Rave Merrill, possessed by her clone donor, the Nightsister Elder Sira Ves. Ves and Rave were being used as weapons against him by his daughter Serrena, a fellow Dark Master (though very young) who hated him for his past with her mother, a Nadd cultist. Seren killed his long-estranged daughter and exorcised Ves from Rave, taking the Nightsister spirit into himself and binding it. He took the vulnerable child under his wing and set out across the galaxy in search of shelter with his old Inquisitor associates. In the end, he found the refuge he sought, or thought he did; he died shortly thereafter, of a fairly suspicious heart attack. Rave entered another's care.
Seren drifted on the edges of Chaos from 816 ABY until 818 ABY, when his soul was trapped and subjugated by Sirella Valkner, the Sith Witch who later trained both Ashin Varanin and Spencer Jacobs. Seren was bound to a Sith-reanimated body and a suit of enchanted armour, and served Sirella until his destruction by fellow Sith Lords. Now able to hold onto some shred of presence, his spirit drifted to Korriban, where an ambitious fool's incautious ritual gave him a new body, the one he currently occupies.
His resurrection earned him new enemies on top of old, and he was promptly imprisoned on Dromund Kaas, in the notorious Jurgoran Prison. When it transpired that the guardian terentateks liked him a little too much, he was transferred to the deepest crypts of the prison planet Hellgotha, in the Unknown Regions.
And apart from the occasional escape, there he remained, from 821 ABY onward.
