Manufacturer: Fire For Effect
Model: OS-GG1 Chaingun

Firefor_Effect.jpg
Modularity: No
Production: Mass Produced
Material: TD1 Alloy 50% Trimantium | 50% Duravlex
Anti Corr 113 (Coating and Finish)
Classification: Blaster Chaingun
Size: Hip Braced, Handheld.
Length: 1000mm
Weight: 9kg
Ammunition Type: Power Cells
Ammunition Capacity: 2,000 per Powerpack.
Effective Range:
250 Max Lethal | 150 Optimal
Rate of Fire: Fully Automatic, 1500 Rounds Per Minute
Special Features:
Fast Fire Rate | Reliable and Sturdy Construction | Well Braced to the Hip for stability.

Description:

A basic reliable blaster chaingun for heavier infantry units, based off of existing designs. The weapon uses the common Anti Corr 113 for coating and finish. Built from a previously established TD1 Alloy for a professional and sturdy barrel, which is required for the speed the gun spits out blaster fire, and more importantly the amount of battering heavy infantry are likely to see on the front lines. Not much good for puncturing most armors, it'll often perform well against lighter armor and most infantry it meets however, spewing out bolts in a suppressive fire effect, especially good to pin troops or fire into groups of men.

Braced well to the wielders hip with harness, it allows for stability when firing. Stability is different to accuracy however, it does allow moderate accuracy to be maintained once a target is zeroed in on, but getting to that point for an individual takes a second or two. As this has no scope, tracking equipment or advanced modifications of any kind, it is very much your front line grunts weapon, and one of the backbone weapons of the 770th stormtrooper corps for example.

Hip braced, an individual can move at a steady advance and fire, without too much trouble, obviously running is out.

When interviewed about the OS-GG1, one 770th clone remarked:
"Ugly looking thing. Gets the Job Done."

Strengths:
+ Reliable and Sturdy Construction, Good for Frontline Use
+ Good Rate of Fire
+ Good Stability from hip bracing.

Weakness:
- Not Accurate till the weapon has been brought to bear.
- No Special Techs or Advance Design
- Many Blaster Resistant Shields and Armors out there.

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Manufacturer: Fire For Effect
Model: HST-1E Exterminus
Affiliation: Closed Market: From Fire for Effect’s Marketplace thread, or a sponsored representative only.
Purchasable from this thread
Modularity: No
Production: Mass-Produced

Material: TD1 Alloy 50% Trimantium | 50% Duravlex
Anti Corr 113 (Coating and Finish)

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Classification: Personal Mortar Cannon
Size: Very Large
Weight: Very High
Ammunition Type: 70mm - Explosive Shell | Smoke Shell | Gas Shell | Anti Infantry Shell | Napalm Shell | Cryoban Shell
Ammunition Capacity: 6
Reload Speed: Slow

Effective Range: Battlefield
Rate of Fire: Low
Stopping Power: Extreme
Recoil: Very High

SPECIAL FEATURES

All shells take 45 meters to prime before exploding, they will land as duds under this range.
  • High Explosive: Radius of 30 meters Casualty | 20 meters Killing - For use against harder armored targets such as power armor or light vehicles.
  • Anti Infantry | Napalm : Radius of 40 meters Casualty | 30 meters Killing - Infantry fragmentation shells, for use against lighter targets and massed groups.
  • Gas | Smoke : Radius of 200 meters
Motion Sensor | Multi-spectral_target_assessor used as an Aiming Guide.
Durasteel folding waist brace to secure to, doubling as a traditional stand to support on the ground. The weapon can be setup in about 15 seconds for either option. Dropping it from the waist is a matter of pressing a button.

Strengths:
  • Sheer explosive potential
  • Can be fitted with any of up to six ammunition types.
  • Moderate area of effect radius
  • Very long range
  • For safety from the recoil, the gun can be secure to the user's waist if using heavy armor, or secured on the ground to be fired upward like a traditional mortar
  • Motion sensor covers up to a long ranged distance detecting heat and motion.
  • Anti acid inert coating, providing some protection from natural wear and tare, or chemical or biological damage.
  • Standard TD1 alloy has heat resistance from the Duravlex
  • Multi Spectral targeting computer to compute long distance firing arcs and angles.
Weaknesses:
  • Very high weight
  • Very large
  • Very high recoil
  • Very low ammo Count
  • Requires heavy armor to brace to or to be fired from the ground.
  • Low rate of fire
  • Slow reload rate
  • Large ammunition to carry around
  • Poor against fast moving individual vehicles, such as starfighters or speeders. Dumbfired it has to be aimed above and ahead of them.
  • Only the HE rounds are penetrative against moderate to heavy vehicles.
  • Useless in enclosed spaces
  • High minimum range, rendering it useless as the battle closes.
  • Requires extra training to use safely, needing to be fired upwards in an arc.

DESCRIPTION

FFE have made their first foray into slug throwers and as one tech says. Go big or go home! Or in that tech’s case with a broken arm, as he didn’t secure the weapon before firing it.

While the HST-1E Exterminus could technically be fired from the hip, as with the OS-GG1, it is highly advisable it is locked in place by its waist brace, or instead braced against a nearby surface, to help with the large amount of recoil the user will experience firing it. This helps prevent injury and give the user a steadier aim. Though bracing to your own side requires thick or impact resistant armor to absorb the recoil, else it is guaranteed to break ribs. The brace doubles as a ground stand and a more traditional firing option, being useful and preferred if you have time to setup. It fires 70mm large shells, potent enough to take out lighter vehicles, or inflict casualties on massed infantry. As such the weapon takes a high degree of strength to operate and training where to aim.

Shooting fast moving air targets would not be practical, given that the weapon has to be fired above and ahead of its targets. Starfighters being very capable of turning, hitting them would be dumb luck. The Exterminus can hit fast ground vehicles but not effectively at range if they are evading, a missile launcher would be much better for this. Instead what the Exterminus does well is shoot into large concentrations of enemy troops causing havok over long range. Being almost the size of a small man, the gun takes up a lot of room and isn’t at all practical to be used in enclosed spaces or at short range in a battle. Instead the weapon is intended to be used as an opener to soften up an approaching enemy force, or shell them out of a position. Generally speaking extra rounds are not advised to be carried, beyond more than one or two shells, because most of the time you won’t be firing forever. The enemy will likely be on top of you before you run out of shots, and in addition carrying lots of 70mm explosive shells is just not practical in most cases without resupply.

With distance in mind, the HST-1E comes with an inbuilt motion tracker on its side fitting display screen, to locate stealthier movements and spot targets. This is required so the weapon can actually be of use, otherwise the owner might well not get to fire it before the target is too close for it to be effective. The targeting assessor screen will display the firing angle needed to hit a certain target, giving information on speed, wind resistance and distance. Though the weapon is all manually fired, it can be lined up with this target indicator, giving it much more accuracy and detailed information on the firing arc needed, rather than merely firing blind at long range. All this consideration adds up to the fire rate being rather slow.

As standard for FFE products, the weapon uses the common Anti Corr 113 for coating and finish, protecting from the elements, chemical or biological attack. The Exterminus like most regular FFE weapons, is built from a previously established TD1 Alloy for a professional and sturdy heat resistant structure. Finally the tri barrel design allows the weapon to stay cooler than using a single one, meaning it can comfortably fire 8-10 shells without needing a break.
