Description: The Serpentan XM Hybrid Miner is a specialized piece of mining equipment intended for use by space miners on dedicated mining and prospecting vessels. It is capable of mining from moons, asteroids, some planets, dense nebulae, and sometimes artificial constructs. It uses a unique array of six micro-composite-beams made of two intersecting beams each to create a tubular, low-power particle beam. Within this beam tube there is room for both a light but highly focused tractor beam as well as an ionization laser, infrared laser and several scanning oculi. This unique design allows for a miner which is able to both break down mined material, give fairly accurate readouts of range, structure composition, material levels, structural integrity and potential hazards, and independently tractor it back to the host ship - all while sorting the gathered materials into indexed storage within the ships' cargo spaces. It can even be directed to input these gathered resources into compressors or refineries if the ship has some installed as well, making it ideal for mining barges and foundry ships. Lastly, there are included failsafes such as an automatic cut-off when the ship's holds have reached capacity or if a mined object becomes hazardously unstable.
