Description:
After the nasty bit of business in the far away asteroid field, Betna returned home with stygium, a gravitic modulator, and an irate, but disabled, mouse droid in tow. With these in hand, he went to work finding a use for the materials.
His old Vangaard Pathfinder became the project for the materials found. Betna started, not by added things, but by removing them. He tore out the old Pathfinder's original shield generator which was unreliable and strange by galactic standards and replaced it with a standard shield generator for a scout ship. From there, he removed the old turret mounted laser cannon and had two more turrets installed. One carried a pair of laser cannons for direct fire while the other carried a pair of proton torpedo launchers. He also updated the ship's standard equipment to modern standards and updated the ship's software entirely. From there, he began preparing portions of the cargo bay for module installation, knowing there wasn't quite enough room elsewhere in the ship. The second stateroom had been converted to a holding cell when Betna first obtained the ship and, for the overhaul, he left it as it was.
The first addition to the ship was in the form of an advanced passive sensor package. This would allow the ship to bring in and sort data from around the ship without actively scanning or targeting enemy ships or locations, allowing the ship to maintain stealth with the cloak active. The next module was the gravitic modulator. The modulator was an experimental design from Iron Crown found in the lockbox. It allowed the equipped ship to defeat mass-detector sensors, hiding the ship from another detection range. The last module installed was the stygium cloak itself. This allowed the ship to entirely cloak itself, hiding from both visual sight and most sensors. The three combined allow Betna's Pathfinder to operate as a passive data sponge, soaking up local information from all areas and storing it away for later use, all while remaining hidden from whoever may be searching.
The only real downsides to the craft are fairly evident. The Pathfinder is a civilian scout ship and not designed for combat outside of escaping. Also, use of active sensors while cloaked can give his position away very easily depending on if others happen to be watching sensors.
As for the mouse droid, Betna had no real idea what to do with the machine. In the end, he mounted the droid atop a spring and then attached the spring to the dashboard of the Pathfinder's cabin.
