Ship Upgrades

Evening, folks. Who would be interested in helping me out with a thread to bring my Firespray into the modern age? I can't guarantee any reward for you, but help would be appreciated. It would have to be dev thread worthy, because if/when I need to sub this ship, I want it built up and ready to go properly.

What I want done:
- TOTAL OVERHAUL. I've commissioned some artwork. It's 90% complete, and I need to pay the guy. It'll be a similar concept framework, but the whole ship will be rebuilt into the modern era. So I'll need to get in touch with a manufacturer with apt shipyards and knowledge to essentially reverse-engineer and refit a ship. Does Sullust have anything?

- STEALTH. A stealth field would be really nice, but if it can have a coating or something that makes it harder to scan, that would be good too. Ideally, I'd be able to slip in and out of anywhere much like those super secret X-Wings that were made awhile back.

- HANDLING. Remember how the Millennium Falcon's greatest rival for speed and manoeuvrability was the Slave I? Yeah.

- GIZMOS, GADGETS, AND WEAPONS. I want to be able to do a lot of anything and everything with this ship. Modular loadouts would be preferred.

- LUXURY. This ship will basically be my character's home. I need accommodations for such. The Slave I was notorious for having a brig, because bounty hunter. The Night Avril could trade the space from that in lieu of a quarters and armoury.

If you see where I'm going with this, and have suggestions, speak up. If you want to join the party, hit me up. We'll joy ride after it's done.

As one spacer to another, I will do my best to help. :)

I even have a shipyard you can use, just bring your own supplies. And don't tell anyone where you found it, its a shadow port, very much on the hush-hush. >_>

Link me in with more details that you want and I can be a spring-board for you. I love the Firespray, almost went with one for this character but I decided to go with the Dynamic-class freighter. Seemed more appropriate.

I'll admit that the knitty-gritty of shipbuilding eludes me, so I'd need a helping hand with that. Last time I tried to get someone to more or less walk me through the process I only got several wookieepedia links.

Well I will do my best to help with this and to keep it interesting. :)

Be prepared to shoot the breeze as we vamp and work it up, that way it stays interesting and is not just "I take the power cord, plug it in, and wire it in over there."

By do-dads and gadgets, what kind are you thinking of?

For stealth you can add paint, or there are alloys. Look at the StealthX on the woookiee and tell me if you like what you see. Real modern stealth-bombers and stuff use a special alloy and anglular design to throw off the radar etc. This helps. Then you can use baffle drive to move quietly, albeit slowly. Also, the "poor man's stealth" that I use is to just go black. Shut everything down, latch onto a bigger ship and you are all but invisible. Worked for Han Solo, works for me. Tons of creative things you can use here.

For comfort, I suggest going for the sleek design. Modern, like the Kiminoans (sp?), all white, sleek, and aesthetic. This reduces weight, which your ship will need, and is compact, which your ship will need to not overdrain the power grid. Especially if you want that amazing handling, you wanna go for this. No Cali King size beds, I am afraid.

I'll keep the ideas running while I am at church tonight and see what else I come up with.

Missiles, bombs, mines, sensor jamming, a tractor beam would be cool but unnecessary, a slave circuit that only allows the ship to control others but not be slaved to other ships, advanced communications array, smuggler compartments... You know, Slave I meets Millennium Falcon in a Firespray that would make someone like [member="Coren Starchaser"] give up women for.

I do like that StealthX system. It's shiny. As far as angular construction, I have a bit of artwork on the way that I think you'll like, and fits the bill. It should also give you a better idea of what we have to work with once the visual representation is in place. Would it be too much to ask for a stealth field generator too, or do we still live in the time of "No ship that small can have a cloaking device?" Also would that encroach upon likely already-limited space?

Nah I didn't want a suite, just better than what I have now. It's pretty much primary rooms connected by hallways, with nowhere really to sleep or anything. Just basic amenities in a tasteful aesthetic.

Yeah, limited space is the key word there. So without going into something massive to fit all these in or to spend like trillions of credits for the cutting edge of the cutting edge.

-Tractor beam: standard Firespray does come with one, so your covered there. :)
- Missiles, bombs, mines: I am sure we can make that happen pretty easy.
-sensor jamming/adv comms array: we could make this one unit if you want. That would be pretty legit
-a slave circuit: I thought this was just basically a remote-control to the ship. But, hey that can be cool to do that. We could link this with the comms too so that if (in reason) you call a ship, you can hack in and remote access it. My droid has done that once on a thread. heeheehee....
-smuggler compartments: We could easily do this, however, the more we add, the less cargo you can logically haul. Just food for thought.

My thoughts:
-Probably going to need new engines to maintain speed and maneuverability.
-Adv deflector shields: most of the stealth material is very susceptible to damage. Adv deflectors are probably going to be a good idea.
-Slower hyperdrive: I know, I know..... but we have to fit all these goodies in somehow, right? Maybe down to 3?
-adv air purification system: making it more efficient, and smaller so that we have room for these goodies.
-Adv water purification system: see above.
-reduced life support: refuel more often, takes up less space. I doubt you will spend six months in space, gives room for more bombs and more goodies.
-Adv sensor/targeting array: see and hit them before they hit you.
-Built in astromech droid: this will do the superpc stuff, be the navi computer, and maybe even be your slave circuit, if you want? Just thoughts.

I will look at it for sure. :)

A singular comms/jammer array sounds pretty sweet. I think something like that may exist already, but I'm not the kind of person to go investigating everything in the approved tech.

As far as I'm aware, slaving a circuit to something is basically giving total control. I don't want anyone having that kind of potential power over my ship except me.

As far as cargo, I don't plan to be hauling much. My life is less kessel run and more adventurer, so unless I find the Dragon's Horde, I don't think I'd be loading up on much. With modifications requiring more stops at either planets, stations, or bigger ships, I don't see the need to carry bulk provisions, either.

Engines, yes. Sublight is a big point for me. Having a fast hyperdrive would be nice, so I think I'll haggle the Class 3 Hyperdrive for a slightly-faster-than-stock Class 2, with no backup hyperdrive. Risky, but hey if Luke Skywalker can hang out in deep space in an X-Wing, I can do it in a Firespray. Hahaha. Besides, it gives me a good weakness.

Air and water purification I agree with, smaller tech, with same or greater effectiveness as stock. Reduced life support basically means it lasts less time, right? I'm not gong to feel light-headed when I'm in space or anything...

Sensors and targeting are a must. I do want to know what's around before my enemies do.

And I like astromechs. Make it so. R6.
