Ships: A Few Inquiries

First.

Can a larger ship trade, say all lasers/cannons/guns to have a minimal amount of other arms to upgrade the speed? Ie, more space to work with equaling out to more space for hyperdrives and the like.

Second.

Can I call dibs? No, lol, really though, if a ship such as this could be made, would stealth be allowed to it?

Basically Im asking, can I make the perfect smuggling ship

Usually if you trade all your guns, hanger space in you can get some benefits in other sections. Faster speed and a faster hyperdrive or more non combative armaments can be a good trade off

Existing ships have traded hanger space for increased speeds. Drastically reducing weapons, armor, and/or shields could also probably get you a speed boost. Though it's highly unlikely that you'd be able to get away with more than a +1 to your sublight speed and maneuverability for the class of ship you're working with.

And as far as Hyperdrives go... engines capable of faster that 1.0 hyperdrive ratings are typically considered illegal on civilian ships. And very few ships on the board are approved to have such speeds. Best bet.... if you want hyperdrive ratings of zero point whatever, you're going to need a respectable dev thread. 0.75 being about as good as the 'average' unit can get. Event tech or an AMAZING dev thread could probably bump a unique ship up to a maximum of 0.5 if the ship has a heck of a lot of trade-offs.

You'd have to strip a ship waaay down to pull an extra speed modifier. And yes you can put stealth on it. And as always, an amazing dev thread does wonders when it's being reviewed.
