Long ago the extinct people of Shola longed for a way to create endless and unlimited energy. A mining people with expertise in geology, metallurgy and crystal formation, the one energy source that was plentiful on their world was the geothermal heat from their planets inner core. One day a scientist created a crystal able to convert heat energy into electrical energy with a near 90% efficiency.
This created a technological boon for the people of Shola, as soon deep mining created near endless energy to fuel the new age sweeping the world. However this age came to an end as quickly as it started. For some unknown reason the people of Shola became abscessed with even more power, and such began implanting crystals deeper and deeper into the worlds core. How, and what happened next is not known but somehow these crystals, large near city sized crystals were placed into the worlds core. This created an uncontrolled runaway reaction that flipped the very planet inside out with all the heat being pulled out of the core and massive electrical bolts sent to the service. This liquidated the planets crust, wiping out Shola people and over the centuries leaving the world a volcanic and destroyed nightmare with a solid cold heart.

discovered an ancient core digging craft and with it explored deep into the planets heart, finding one of these such city sized crystals and taking samples back to research and sell. Others will surely learn of this discovery over time, however attaining more may be difficult without proper equipment.To date Shola is the only planet these crystals have been discovered on however it is known if other of the extinct race of Shola may have survived and taken this science to other worlds.
