SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Converts heat into electricity
STRENGTHS
  • Heat to electricity - Converts any and all heat it comes into contact with direct electrical current.
  • Doesn't burn - Basically indestructible by heat as it converts radiant heat and spits it out as electricity as quickly as it touches it
WEAKNESSES
  • Basically destroyed by anything else - Sonic, energy blasts, kinetic, and lightsabers will cut through it or shatter it like a hot knife through butter.
  • Does not protect anything from heat - This is not a heat shield, it can not protect or insulate anything else from heat.
  • Uncontrolled - The more heat it absorbs the more electricity it produces, there is no off switch, as long as it is in the presence of heat, it will generate electricity and discharge it into the nearest conductive material.
DESCRIPTION

Long ago the extinct people of Shola longed for a way to create endless and unlimited energy. A mining people with expertise in geology, metallurgy and crystal formation, the one energy source that was plentiful on their world was the geothermal heat from their planets inner core. One day a scientist created a crystal able to convert heat energy into electrical energy with a near 90% efficiency.

This created a technological boon for the people of Shola, as soon deep mining created near endless energy to fuel the new age sweeping the world. However this age came to an end as quickly as it started. For some unknown reason the people of Shola became abscessed with even more power, and such began implanting crystals deeper and deeper into the worlds core. How, and what happened next is not known but somehow these crystals, large near city sized crystals were placed into the worlds core. This created an uncontrolled runaway reaction that flipped the very planet inside out with all the heat being pulled out of the core and massive electrical bolts sent to the service. This liquidated the planets crust, wiping out Shola people and over the centuries leaving the world a volcanic and destroyed nightmare with a solid cold heart.

It was only recently an band of explores Skajin var Imret Skajin var Imret and Ghrom the Molten Ghrom the Molten discovered an ancient core digging craft and with it explored deep into the planets heart, finding one of these such city sized crystals and taking samples back to research and sell. Others will surely learn of this discovery over time, however attaining more may be difficult without proper equipment.

To date Shola is the only planet these crystals have been discovered on however it is known if other of the extinct race of Shola may have survived and taken this science to other worlds.

Heya!

This is quite the bad boy when it comes to crystals, able to terraform entire planets is quite the feat. I'm wondering, however, what size category we're talking when it comes to the city-scale ones. Is it literally a crystal with a radius of several kilometres or one that's big enough to supply an entire city with geothermal power? How big are the crystals that can actually be mined and used?

Can you clarify a little bit what the intent behind this submission is too, other than what you already have under Intent?

You're missing the Model: part of the template, you can just put N/A here if there's nothing that fits.

Under your Production field, you state it's "Rare", but we require one of the template's options between Unique and Mass-Produced to be listed here.
