Shoot Your Shot [Atara]

Theed - Naboo

A caf shop on the streets of Theed was a nice place for the citizens of the capital city to sit, relax, and enjoy a nice cup of joe with friends. It was nearing the afternoon so the place was rather low on activity. Only people there were those on their day off, or just passing through the capital. Djonas Vile was neither of those. In fact, he was in between operations and just wanted to stop by his father's favorite spot for some tea.

Djonas walked into the caf shop and greeted the cashier with a wave. "Welcome, sir! So glad to have you back."

"Glad to be back. I'll have the usual. Little extra milk this time, though."

"Yes, sir. How goes the business?"

"Just fine, Nancy. Business is booming."

"Great to hear, sir. And your caf. Just how you like it with some extra milk as requested."

"Excellent. Thank you, Nancy. You can charge it to my estate."

"Yes, sir. Enjoy!"

Djonas took his cup of caf and found himself a seat next to a window so he could enjoy the sight of the capital as he drank his caf. It warmed his heart to see his people hard at work and enjoying life on his homeworld. It's all he could ever want, really. A smiled slightly and continued to enjoy his caf.

Why Naboo?

Why not Naboo! Fashion and design where ingrained in this culture like no place Atara had visited before. It wasn't just a means of self expression against the backdrop of the utilitarian purpose of clothes. It wasn't just an asthetic but a very real means of communication. Atara had heard that even the royal wardrobe was codified. On Naboo, fashion played a very real and very prominent role in society.

That was a comforting thought for the Alderaani. Her contract with Glitterstim was due to expire soon and thus far there had been no attempt at renegotiation. Prestigious and big money prospects where limited in a war torn galaxy. Models didn't sell warships and refugees weren't exactly concerned with the latest spring and summer lines. At best she might wind up on some nostalgic looking recruitment poster, but to be honest, Atara's was a classical look that didn't fit the niche.

So, Naboo, in some nondescript cafshop she found herself. It had been a long day already of networking and tomorrow would be a repeat unless something spectacular presented itself.

"Hello and welcome. I'm Nancy, what can I do for you today."

Blue eyes scanned the menu for a moment before finding Nancy. Atara's expression didn't hide her disappointment. What she wanted wasn't there.

"Is there any chance you might have sweetwater? R'alla Mineral water would be wonderful."

"No, I'm sorry. It's just normal water.

Atara sighed. She had no interest in finding somewhere else so starting digging through her purse for her credit chip.

"I suppose I'll have an Espcaf"

Still searching the small designer bag that contained her life, Atara was having difficulty finding a means to pay for it.

Djonas quickly turned his head as a woman he somewhat recognized walk into the caf shop. She was pretty and walked with the kind of swagger that put Djonas on notice. He unconsciously locked his eyes on her and watched her walk all the way up to the counter. Nancy did her greeting and the woman exchanged a few words as she made her order. Djonas realized that after a few moments of the woman looking through her purse, she needed some assistance. He took one more drink of his caf and rose from his chair. The Naboo native walked up to the counter and leaned against the counter, next to the woman.

"Charge it, and whatever else she wants, to my estate, Nancy. This girl right here is a celebrity and no celeb pays for their drinks in my town. Especially the women." Djonas flashed a smile at Nancy as she began keying in commands into her register. Djonas then returned to his seat. Once he sat back down, he returned his gaze to the woman at the counter. "Please, join me."

Slightly embarassed, her cheeks flushed pink. Atara had the credits. Baros, her boss, may have been a very hands off employer but he made sure everyone was paid. Whether they were worth it not. Greta. She just couldn't find it.

She was about to start panicking, the Djonas slid in. Grateful as she was, it only added to her embarassment. Especially with the celebrity comments. Atara was hardly a celebrity but now Nancy thought she was and who knew who Nancy might tell. Then who they might tell and so on and so on. Before she would know it Atara would be the girl who couldn't pay for coffee.

A girl who couldn't pay for coffee in a town where apparently the women didn't even have to pay for coffee. Yeah, that little chauvinistic remark didn't exactly fly under the radar. It would be let slide though, he was being nice after all.

Drink in hand, Atara moved towards the offered seat. "Unless you're playing at my vanity, I assume you know who I am?" she inquired taking her seat across from Djonas.

"Thanks by the way, Mr?"
