It had been months since Aryn had dedicated himself to developing his abilities with the force, and in that time he had already developed rapidly. Yet, Aryn had still made a point of keeping himself separate from the major force orders across the galaxy. In a way, it had been more of a nuisance than anything. Lacking the materials and assistance that many other Jedi across the galaxy had access to was certainly a pain. But over time, he'd made his way one way or another. What had eluded the Jedi for far too long however had been the wherewithal to construct his own lightsaber. The crystal had been the first and most simple part to it, and he had secured it some time ago, but picking up more and more pieces had been harder. Most were constructed or stored solely within the orders across the galaxy, and so he had to resort to the occasional merchant who'd found or procured one.

Such a merchant was what had drawn Aryn to Taris. Aryn would normally have remained a fair distance from the world considering its proximity to the new Mandalorian Empire, their 'distaste' for force users was well known, and he wondered if that fact had anything to do with this particular Tarisian merchants recent discovery of a series of lightsaber parts. He knew the man would have the emitter he was looking for, it was the last part he required, and he had quite a stack of credits ready to spend for it. Shifting his way through the crowds of the market, it took some time to actually find the aqualish who was selling the parts, the emitter laid out in a cushioned case as if it were some prized antique. Making his way over, he smirked, reaching out to grab the part with enthusiasm, ignoring all other buyers at the stall.

The Mandalorian empire wasn’t exactly known for it’s...positive relationship with force users, which is part of what made this whole situation so unusual. She wasn’t even sure how she ended up here in the first place, well no that wasn’t true. The Mandalorian space wasn’t too far from her home grounds, so it was hardly surprising that a Jedi might be sent out to poke their nose into the planet, a scouting mission to see if the order could provide any assistance. It was the first time that she’d been sent out on a solo mission since she’d joined the order so the girl had tried to make sure that she did more than just a passable job. She’d spent time in the city, the ghettos and the countryside, wandering around talking to the citizens.

It was actually one of those talks that drew her here, to this crowded market in the first place. A rumour of a merchant selling Jedi artefacts to the highest bigger, stories of a cache of lightsabers turned up by a lucky merchant. She couldn’t just leave this kinda rumour unverified, the chance that the parts would find their way into some less than savoury hands was less than satisfactory...besides you never know what you might find, maybe even an upgrade for her saber. So here she was, hood up as her hands sunk into the pockets of her robe, inquisitive blue eyes peering out from under the hood as they ran over the stalls, searching for the stall in question. Food, trinkets, ornaments and...lightsaber parts, she flashed a predatory grin as she closed on the table, a wolf closing on her prey as her hand reached out, red skinned hand grasping at the emitter stored in a case on the table. That, now that looked interesting.

As Aryn felt the metal of the emitter on his fingers, he smirked, a smirk which quickly faded as he saw the flash of red at the same moment and felt another force pulling at the emitter. Arm now outstretched, he looked up to meet the gaze of the Togruta who had also gone for the Emitter, the two of them now essentially in some strange handshake with the Emitter between them both. It didn't take him long to realise who, or rather, what, she was, he could feel the force running through her, and the robes she wore certainly helped make it obvious. In almost any situation, he'd have relented, let her take the object for herself, but emitters, in particular, had proven incredibly irritating to come across, and with the amount of time he'd spent looking for it, he had no intention of relenting without the promise of another.

"Oh no, no, no, definitely not." He shook his head firmly, keeping his grip on the emitter as he watched the Togruta, pausing himself before he continued, he may have been adamant about keeping the emitter, but the girl didn't know the frustration he'd had in actually finding such a piece. Sighing, he shook his head, keeping a firm grip on it still. "Sorry, I have just been looking all over for one of these, it's the last part I need." He emphasized, hoping that he might be able to appeal to the woman's good nature.

Asaraa let her blue eyes travel up the man’s arm, tracing a path from the transmitter all the way up his arm to rest on the man’s face as she arched an eyebrow at him. “Yeah, there’s a reason for that,” she pointed out. “If they were easy to find then everyone would be running around throwing around lightsabers like they were blasters.” The red-skinned Togruta tugged at the emitter, not willing to cause a public fuss, but unwilling to let go of the metal part. Yet despite this she found herself smiling at him completely aware of the ridiculousness of the situation, as the the two of them remained bound up in some kind of dance.

“Besides, what would you even want it for? No-one’s going to pay anything for a piece of a lightsaber that doesn’t mean anything to anyone special. It’s not like this belonged to an ancient Jedi or...wait...what do you mean the last part you need?” The blue eyes centered on his face in confusion as she almost let go of the emitter, just remembering herself at the last moment. “Just what’re you building?”

As he felt the Togruta tug at the emitter, Aryn's grip held firm, not willing to relent on his own grip as he watched her. He rolled his eyes at her reasoning for why it had been so difficult for him to come across one already, as if it weren't already clear enough to him. As he saw her smiling however, he couldn't allow himself to be truly aggravated over the situation, also able to see just how ridiculous it was. As she questioned why he wanted it, he raised an eyebrow as he watched her. He had considered it obvious why he would want it, he certainly didn't appear to be a collector, but he figured if he appeared like a normal Jedi he wouldn't have been needing to find it in the first place.

"A lightsaber." He said plainly, as though it were rather obvious. Reaching down with his free hand, he shifted his coat aside as he opened one of the larger pouches on his belt. Within sat all the parts of his incomplete saber, the pale blue crystal sitting most prominent in the pouch as he turned his gaze back up towards her, clearing his throat. "I'm not a member of one of the orders, so obviously they aren't keen to give me one of theirs." He said with an innocent shrug.

Well...that wasn’t what she’d expected to see, the parts of a lightsaber lying nestled in the pouch at the man’s side. She could make out the crystal, the power supply and well it looks like he was right, this was the last piece he needed. The Togruta furrowed her brow, her blue eyes looking up at Aryn thoughtfully, as her fingers tightened around the emitter as she reached out to him through the force. Well now, that’s interesting, he had a presence in the force, not firm but it was there, as yet untrained.

“Ok....how about this, you buy me a caf at that cafe there and tell me about yourself and why you’re building a lightsaber and we go from there. But till then I get to hold onto the emitter and we figure things out from there?”

If what he was saying was true well...it wasn’t like she desperately needed the part and he obviously did. On the other hand, an untrained Jedi running around with a lightsaber could be dangerous, but he obviously knew enough to collect the parts and put them together. More and more the young Padawan found herself curious about why, about how he did that.

Aryn watched the padawan with curiosity, feeling her fingers tighten around him. He could even feel it as she reached out through the force to him. He had grown accustomed to the feeling, and as always he welcomed the connection, unknowingly feeding upon it as he did with all such connections, but already he tightened that link, feeling the force flowing through her as long as she held onto it. It was a practice he had grown increasingly skilled in, finding those connections and holding onto them, none had quite developed into bonds, except that between himself and his pseudo-master, but they were strong, stronger than was common among such strangers. As she spoke, he raised an eyebrow, glancing towards the cafe in question before he looked back at her, thinking for a few long moments.

Letting out a sigh, Aryn eventually loosened his grip on the Emitter, allowing her to take a firm hold of it. "Fine, I can agree to that." He said with a nod, lowering his hand to his side as he began to walk past the Togruta towards the cafe, glancing over his shoulder briefly as he walked. "You can call me Aryn, if you were wondering." He commented briefly as they walked, making his way towards the cafe and taking a seat outside with her, waving down the waiter to order them two cups of caf. Leaning back in his chair as the waiter walked off, Aryn turned his gaze back to the Togruta as she settled, watching her for a few moments as he crossed his arms over his chest, giving her a nod. "Well, ask away."

The Togruta fell silent for a moment, waiting till the waitress had brought over their caf, staring down at the brown steaming liquid as the twirled her cup carefully watching the whirlpool forming on its surface. Since that first moment, the touch of her mind against his she'd kept away from the force, not wanting to intrude on him, it invade his personal space. Now though, the Padawan opened herself up to the force, letting her mind dance along the now familiar pathways, feeling the energy that surrounded them, permuted through the world around them. She ran her finger along the edge of the emitter, glancing down at it before her blue eyes flicked up to stare at [member="Aryn Teth"].

"Asaraa, I'm Asaraa."

A smile touched her lips, tugging up the corners of her mouth as she placed the emitter down on the table, it's edges clattering against the hard surface.

"I guess the first question, the most important one is why? You're a Jedi, or at least you can use the force, why not join up with one of the orders?"

Taking his caf as it was set down in front of him, Aryn lifted it up towards his nose, wafting in the scent of the brown liquid. He had never personally been an immense fan of the stuff, the taste was perfectly enjoyable, and the kick was often useful when he needed it, but the process of crashing after a few cups was never quite worth the trouble more often than not. Still, it was a welcome drink from time to time, and a comfortable way to pass the time. Bringing the cup to his lips, he tilted it back slightly as he took a long sip, enjoying the warmth and taste of it as it ran down his throat, gently laying it back down onto the table after a moment, his eyes never leaving the Togruta as she introduced herself and lay down the Emitter.

Aryn's smile was polite, but his expression turned thoughtful for a moment as she asked her question, sighing as he thought of how best to answer it. As he thought, his own presence in the force began to latch onto her own as she let it flow. Though she seemed content not to intrude upon his presence, it seemed to force itself to the forefront of her view, almost to invite her. It was not an intentional move on Aryn's part, it had become a natural reflex, one he was still not even aware of as he drew upon the force of others, he felt as it surged through them just the same way that it pulsed through himself.

"I didn't choose to focus on my connection with the force for many years, when I finally decided to do so, I felt it should just be something I did myself." It was a careful answer, but Aryn figured it worked as well as any other.

Asaraa tilted her head to the side, her blue eyes observing the man thoughtfully as he spoke, explaining his motives. “That’s...not the easiest of paths you’ve chosen for yourself there is it?” The young woman’s voice was soft, purposefully cast low enough that no-one else could overhear the two of them as her finger’s tightened around the sides of her mug. She could feel the warmth, the heat flowing through her body as she smiled up at him. “But why? None of the orders would force you into something that you don’t want to do, or force you to stay with them any longer than you really wanted to...but if you try to do it alone well.” Her fingers tapped at the emitter on the table, “you can’t always find everything you need. Why? Why not work with someone else if not to make your life easier, and help you improve?”

The Togruta glanced down at her caf, swirling it around before taking a sip, she could feel his presence in the force, drawing her in as her blue eyes glanced up at his face. “I can respect wanting to do it yourself, but without someone to help you’re placing a limit on how far you can develop your abilities.” A grin tugged at her lips as her eyes dropped to examine him, “Not that it looks like you’ve struggled all that much there.”

Aryn couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle as Asaraa spoke in regards to the path he'd chosen. Indeed, learning to use the force for himself had not been easy, but the galaxy was wide and filled with force orders and users, getting access to materials to help with that was far less difficult now than it had been many years ago. As she continued speaking, it was clear to Aryn that Asaraa was indeed a member of one of the orders, though he could not tell which one, but he felt the light side of the force flowing through her first and foremost, at the very least, that narrowed it down a bit. He shrugged to her question, reaching up to scratch at his chin idly as he considered his answer. "My father used to tell me that if you're going to do anything, always try the hard way first."

He smiled at the thought, the voice of his father briefly echoing the voice in his mind as he said them. Aryn's father had always been a harsh man, but he understood now better than ever the meaning behind many of his lessons. Nodding as she spoke up, he shrugged as he leaned back in his chair, picking up his caf to take another long drink, watching Asaraa as she sat across from him. "As for that, well I suppose developing them too much, or gaining any kind of significant 'power' hasn't really ever been my desire, long as I know how to use them, that's all I can hope for." He shrugged, knowing that it was not a great answer, and likely not even one he really felt sincere about, but it was the best that came to mind.

At the mention of Aryn’s father’s saying Asaraa felt her lips curling up into a smile, a soft laugh slipping from her lips. “Your father sounds like an…interesting man. Not saying I completely agree with his saying,” she pressed her finger down onto the emitter, observing it for a moment. “I mean you’d think that going straight to the hard way would make things unnecessarily difficult but I guess it’s the one thing that no-one would ever expect you to do and you know, the element of surprise counts for a lot.” The Togruta had never actually met her family, at least not that she could remember, the faint memories of her family shadowy figures, more voices than anything. She’d thought about going back, tracking them down but what did she have in common with them? Now though, she could hear something in the man’s voice, a kind of respect almost that she couldn’t identify with as much as she wished she could.

Tearing herself away from her thoughts the young woman looked up to his eyes as that smile reached up to her twinkling eyes. “You say you don’t want to gain any kind of significant power…but well…” Her fingers set the emitter spinning on the table as if it were a large coin, the metal clattering on the tabletop as it span. “A lightsaber is a pretty significant power…and using it properly, that requires even more power to do properly. Anyone can hold a saber, wield it but not cutting off your nose is one thing…the ability to knock blaster bolts out of the air requires even more power than that.” She sat back, letting her eyes drop for a moment to the spinning emitter between them before she looked up at him, over the rim of the caf mug, taking in a deep breath as she grinned, almost a challenge.

Aryn's smile was polite as he watched Asaraa, shrugging his shoulders idly at her comment. He did figure that the advice his father had given him was certainly not the kind that many would choose to follow, but it had been the doctrine by which Aryn had lived the majority of his life, and so far, it had all worked well enough for him. He swapped his smile for a more thoughtful expression as she spoke again. He watched the emitter as it spun upon the table, eyes focused upon it as he considered his answer. "Perhaps 'skill' is the better term for that." As he spoke, the spinning emitter slowly began to lift off the table, Aryn didn't bother to move a hand, flicking his gaze back up towards Asaraa as the now-floating emitter continued to spin. Telekinesis had certainly become Aryn's forte, he had found he was impressively capable with it, and figured this was a reasonable enough demonstration.

His eyes locked onto Asaraa's, studying her gaze as he spoke again, taking full grasp of what he had now begun to see as a test of wits. "The power to wield the force and make my lightsaber, I already have that - but to wield it well, I don't currently have the skill. Though, to gain that, I would need one of my own, I can use a blade, certainly, but only a fool would consider that the same as a lightsaber." His answer was plain, his gaze flicking back down to the emitter as it slowed and stopped, beginning to instead spin in the other direction as it floated gently above the table.

The togruta let her blue eyes flick over to the spinning coin as it rotated slowly in the air. A smile touched her lips as her eyes flicked back to catch his gaze as she raised a finger. Her mind reached out to touch the force, weaving a tendril of the force out, wrapping around the coin, slipping through his grasp on the force as she lowered her finger. As the digit touched down on the table the coin started to spin, not just horizontally but vertically as well, spinning faster and faster as a challenging smile beamed out at him.

“It’s not always about the power, it’s about skill and practice, about having people who can show you to look at the force in ways you’ve never thought of, you never imagined it could be.” She bit her lips for a moment, staring into the spinning emitter, watching the light dancing off the part as it rotated in the air. Sucking in a deep breath the young woman let out a deep breath reaching out with her mind to slowly push it with the force. Slowly the emitter drifted over the table, pushing over to rest infront of the man as she sighed. “I’m so gonna get in trouble for this but…I think maybe you might need this a little more than I do.” She watched if a moment before releasing her grip on it in to force, “Just…if you need it…practice with the blade or with the force let me know. You may want to do things the hard way, but that doesn’t mean you need to do everything alone.”

Aryn raised a curious brow as he watched the emitter gently float over the table towards him, before it came to rest before him. At her words he was surprised, he had expected her pseudo-interrogation of him to take longer than it had, but it seemed Jedi were continuing to surprise him on a more frequent basis nowadays. He reached out, gently taking hold of the Emitter as he felt it in his hand, hefting it somewhat as he felt just how light the piece was, on its own it seemed insignificant, like it could never really amount to something proper. Yet as he focused on it, he felt the force echoing through him, he felt as the other parts began to lift slowly from his belt, and the emitter left his hand to float and shift before him.

Slowly, one by one, the parts of the lightsaber he had worked to gain began to form together, shifting into different configurations and forms as they all silently shifted around them. As he focused, the cup of caf before Aryn on the table began to shift and lift as well, followed by a nearby chair and a set of empty plates. The Jedi was clearly unaware, focused upon the Lightsaber before him as the crystal finally shifted from the small pouch upon his belt. He did not even glance up for a second at the stunned and awed stares of a few passers-by and others at the restaurant, he was deep within the force at that moment, focused upon this one moment as the crystal socketed itself comfortable within the weapon, slowly each and every piece beginning to form together into one solid lightsaber, which slowly lowered itself down onto the table before him.

As everything else around him gradually settled back down into its place, he smiled as he looked up towards Asaraa again, as if he were oblivious of everything he had just done. "I appreciate the offer - I'll keep it in mind."

The young woman tilted her head to the side, returning his smile with a soft of her own, “Do, it always helps to have someone to test yourself against safely if nothing else.”

Asaraa let her blue eyes drop down to the table, her gaze alighting on the metal cylinder that lay there. It seemed so innocuous, it didn’t look like a weapon, one of the most iconic weapons in the galaxy. She reached out a finger, letting a tendril of the force push at the lightsaber, rocking it back and forth before she looked up at Aryn, an almost challenging smile tugging up the corner of her lips. “So, it feels alright but, you know there’s only one way to be sure that it works…” Her eyes flicked down to the pommel of the blade, at the button just sitting there waiting to be pressed. “Wanna switch it on?”

If she was honest she had to admit she was curious about what colour, what kind of blade the man had created. She’d been thinking of creating a more specialised blade for herself, something that was truly hers, not just something she was given by the order. Much like Aryn had done, the weapon on the tables wasn’t just a lightsaber it was his in a way that the blade attached to her belt didn’t belong to her.

Aryn's gaze remained focused on the saber as it shifted and rocked slightly on the table, and as Asaraa spoke up again with her assessment of it. The majority of the crowd around them had settled back into what they were doing with his demonstration being done, the benefit of Jedi and Sith being so common these days was that such public displays weren't shunned too greatly. At her suggestion however, he seemed vaguely surprised, gaze turning back up to her as he raised a curious eyebrow. He did suppose she was right, there was no way of knowing it would all work properly without activating the blade, even if he had assembled all the parts correctly, it was the last big moment to ensure all was as it should be.

Sighing, he nodded and reached out to wrap his fingers around the hilt of the blade. "What the hell, everyone else here is probably sick of me anyway." He chuckled, glancing around to the crowd for a moment before he looked back to the hilt. There was the activation switch on the pommel, but Aryn made no move to hit it, reaching up on the hilt, he shifted a small panel to the side, revealing a hidden button beneath it. Taking in a deep breath then, he pressed down on the button, a sudden and audible burst of energy coming from the hilt as a long blue blade shot upward from the hilt, casting a clear glow over the table and Aryn's features as he looked over the weapon.

"Well, looks like it works."

A smile tugged up the corners of the young woman’s lips as she nodded, inclining her head at the man as she watched the blue light illuminating Aryn’s face. “It certainly does, doesn’t look like its unstable or anything.” Her blue eyes examined the weapon for a long moment before she nodded, “not a bad piece of work there.” And amused grin lit up her face as she winked at him, “I’ve seen people try to build their first lightsaber onto to have it melt, or short circuit in their hands. Well, that or they somehow managed to get the crystal on backwards so the blade was unstable and failing.”

Leaning back in her chair Asaraa glanced around the room, blinking as she took in the sight of the crowd staring at them. Just at that moment, the Togruta found herself glad that her red skin hid the blush that coloured her features. She gave the onlookers a bright grin before twisting back to look at Aryn. “Well, they all liked it at least,” she allowed with a laugh as she raised a hand, flicking a hand at him as a cookie flew out of her hand to fizzle into dust against the lightsaber. “Seems to work just fine…although that probably wasn’t the best use of my cookie now I think about it.”
