Short steps then a leap

T
he search started with a vague confirmation that such a thing was possible. An old man at a market stall on Nar Shaada. Supposedly some sort of exotic alien species in the Outer Rim had the ability. Dubious, and it led to a holo library visit and a dead end. The trail was on again after a visit to a subnet for smugglers, again confirmed it could be done, and that humans could do it. That led to a shipyard on Toydaria. Which led to a university on Alsakan. Moah learned it was force users that could do it. That led to the pilot going through force testing, which came out positive, followed by an intensive holonet search. That led to a name, Jorus Merrill, and finally to the Levantine Academy.
Punching in hyperspace coordinates without aid of a nav computer. Instinctual astrogation. The search for it had been ignited by an old codger telling Moah some knew what was where without seeing it. They could jump without a nav computer. He hadn't thought much of it at the time. The Pilot suspected he had done something similar once escaping from a pirate. Stopped a nav algorithm before it was done narrowing down the best route. The numbers had simply felt good enough for his purposes. He ended up lost, but otherwise fine.

The pilot had no intentions of signing up for classes, having always learned directly from mentors how to fly, but on the list of instructors he recognized a name. Coren Starchaser. He had heard rumors about him. Supposedly running with the Underground. Figured he could exchange a lesson on instinctual astrogation in return for helping out the Rebels with their smuggling. Moah sent him a message saying so and showed up wherever Starchaser could give him a lesson after downloading several data books from the academy library.
