Should I create an FU?

I've so far been on 3 rp sites and have yet to make a Jedi, Sith, or other FU. I seem to spend all of my time running starfleets, smuggling, being a pirate, and other NFU activities. Considering that the majority of rp on this site is for FU, I was considering giving in. As of now, I currently have 1 active character (Mongo) and Kopaurl will be active if [member="Ballen-Ist"] [member="Sidi"] [member="Lucien Dolos"] are still interested.

If I'm not going to make an FU I'll most likely be making some sort of trooper or spy. I'm leaning towards Jedi currently because although I love the Dark Side, it kinda sucks when it isn't with the Empire. So should I make an FU or continue by NFU ways?

Go for it! FUs are always fun to make, and it's easy to learn how to play them. I can help, scince the majority of my characters use the Force. :D

I say, do whats comfortable, but also risky. Make for a fun experience and if you find you want to truly try your hand explore your options past simple Jedi or Sith. There are many other groups that can give you a fun time, find the right one and enjoy yourself.

I know there are various types of Jedi out there but I don't know which. :/ Most likely going single handed old school for weapon. Maybe hand and a half for two handed attacms with a one handed saber.

Really the other thing I had in mind was more of a rogue Jedi assassin type. I kinda have a concept for the weapon and abilities already in my head

Well obviously it draws a lot of attention XD

Rogue Jedi assassin is a pretty interesting concept, I must admit.

My personal favorite groups out Jedi and Sith are the Jensaarai, if you ever want to look into them.

Well, so long as you haven't played a FU yet, I'd say all for it! I find Sith and Dark Siders in general seem to be easiest to start off with. Not that Jedi are difficult - in fact they're probably easier in terms of training - but that there's a very specific mindset behind them and their cultures. Dark Jedi/Rogue. That's about as easy as it gets. Do what you want, how you want. No fear of adhering to zealous beliefs on either end of the spectrum, but just dark enough in that there's no real consequence to morality; there's only actions and reactions.

Part of the fun of having a Jedi assassin type of character is the conflict between the morals that come with being a Jedi and the interest in money/fame

If you decide to make a FU, I'd be happy to RP with you :)

And about the Jedi Assassin thing, it's a very interesting line to tread. Hasjo was a Sith-hunter. Seeking down Sith, and then fighting them on a daily basis exposes your character to a lot of interesting plotlines. In the end, Hasjo became notorious enough that he had 13 different writers all vying to kill him in a single open thread. It was good fun. Although, in the end he died. There was just too many to defend himself against.

Every character has it's benefits. NFU's are great for providing that grounded, real-world grit into an otherwise Space Wizard Fantasy. NFU's see the galaxy less as a trophy to be conquered and more like a marathon to be endured. You still win in the end, but the rat-race is very different.

A Force User gets to bask in the glory of their greatest magics. Throwing tanks with their minds, or manifesting fire from the air, or dazzling sword gymnastics. A Force User has little reason to admire a firearm, appreciate the small sciences, or even respect the temporal cultures of other peoples. They have Space Magic. Everything else is just sooo... Mehhh.

Making a Force User can provoke you as a writer to entertain a new mindset about life, the galaxy, and the place of religion in your characters life. No longer are you the clothes you wear, the job you work, or the money you earn. You begin to write a character who is as ethereal and potent as the magic's they wield.

I recommend you try it at least once. Weave a fireball spell, mind trick a passing stranger, or push over a random motorcycle on the sidewalk with your character's mind. Everybody on this website deserves to be Harry Potter for at least one day. *wink*

Cheers. :D

Most likely I'll do a write up tomorrow. im tired and using a dying phone so any sort of write up will be complete poodoo. My plot arc will probably be him being generally a vengeful person, and while not having a great understanding and appreciation of the Force, excelled at combat. Something will happen that will change him physically and mentally so he becomes an assassin

All of my yes, all of it I say!

The Force User gig here is a bit complicated in my mind. While I love throwing a curve ball into the mainstream space magic, it does become difficult in trying to find that right partner to get your character up to speed so you can really explore the various ways to razzle dazzle an audience (or just yourself) with the higher level sorcery. I haven't gotten there with any of mine yet either.
