Should the GR Faction return to being open?

For a variety of reasons, in late 2014, the consensus view was that the GR boards should no longer be open. That new members should be approved by the FAs.

The reasons then matter little now. The question is, do you wish to continue as it is now, or would you prefer a move to where someone just has to click the 'Join' button and they're instantly a member.

This is a three day poll. Not urgent, but definitely worth asking your opinion on. After all, it's your Faction

And please vote once per writer, not once per character. And if you have fewer than 50 posts, it won't let you vote - that's just a board thing, not a GR thing.

well tbh it made me feel welcome when I got that message front Corvus, and if it was open then that wouldn't happen as much.

I'd say by approval.

It makes it slightly easier to stop the Dark Jedi/Sith from running between factions, claiming to be Republic Jedi today and SJ/OS tomorrow. Most importantly, the majority of characters are actual members of the faction. Not all, but you know what I'm saying.

For example, if it were open, my Sith could join and become a member despite not really being a member. That's probably just me though, I never saw a reason for a character to OOCly join as many factions as possible and then claim to be an IC member of all.

I don't personally see the difference.

If we are trying to hide information from the OS/DJ OOCly, it's not gonna work since there is literally no way to do so. Dozens of OS players have Jedi, and vice versa (My character Mandy is Sith). So if they want to leak info either IC or OOC, it's gonna happen anyway. That is what I feel this poll is more or less about. If I am wrong, please give me another scenario for why the faction should be closed...Welcoming new members can be done when they post their greeting in the new members location.

I only see this is as more work for both the new players having to wait for approval and the Faction Admins than anything else. My vote is to leave the faction open.
