Shouldn't Glitterstim be extinct?

Right. So these are the creatures that produce glitterstim. According to the article, glitterstim is created when one of these pass through an Energy Spider's web.

Now look at this paragraph from Wookieepedia.

In 43.5 ABY, Leia Organa Solo uncovered the true nature of the bogeys whilst exploring the underground levels of Kessel. Her contact with them allowed her to sense a feeling of futility among them as the bogeys began to feel that the data they were maintaining was going to be lost with the cycle ending. After the machinery in the caverns of Kessel was destroyed, the bogeys disappeared with their existence seemingly tied to those devices.[2]


The bogeys dissipeared... And since bogeys are essential to the creation of Glitterstim... How is there glitterstim in the galaxy anymore?

Just curious, I'm hoping that there's some explanation. I'm sure there is, just not one I thought of.

Just assume they became the main character in someones fanfiction involving bugs and Darth Vaders illegitimate third son with a Twi'lek and they gained moderate plot armor that way. It will probably be a more believable, and easier to understand, story.

Various organizations in accordance with the New Galaxy Rebuilding Plan join efforts with the newly reformed Yuuzhan Vong to begin rebuilding and terraforming destroyed planets within the galaxy, undoing thousands of years of war. Alderaan, Byss, Carida and all other planets destroyed in the Galactic timeline are rebuilt.

Looking at that I took it to mean that somehow they were just remade, like much of the species on the destroyed planets were likely somehow brought back or new ones were introduced / grown by the reformed Vong.

[member="Mrrew"] I believe you have mis-read the articles that you posted. Bogeys are -not- essential to the creation of glitterstim. The only affect they had on the actual webbing was making them glow blue.

Bogeys also had an effect on the black glitterstim strands produced by the spice spiders and gave them their blue photoactive nature.

They simply illuminated the webbing making it glow, and thus attracting the spiders to feed off of them. They were their preferred meal. However, there were also Energy spiders found on Ryloth as well, where no Bogey's were reported to have ever been.
