Manda'yaim was destined to be trouble, that much had become obvious since the Sith Empire's invasion and subsequent occupation of the Mandalorian Homeworld; Unfortunately Kauri Tu-Matauenga was a gambling man and had sworn by his word that he would see the remains of his ver'gebuir, the closest thing to a true Father and Mentor that Kauri had ever had. Nikau Kryze was the man who brought Kauri into the life, introduced him to the resol'nare and what it meant to have ijaat. Honor. Family had been nothing but a false promise before then, yet everything since had given Kauri purpose and a sense of belonging. That was at-least, up until Nikau had died fighting to defend the very world he wished to be put to rest upon.
They'd been under the guise of a merchant vessel, falsified IFF Transponder codes and hoped to pass the Sith Fleet unscathed. It all sounded very simple, a rag-tag bunch of mercenaries, none of them whom Kauri knew at all yet what other means had he of living up to an oath such as this. The Sith had seen through the codes within minutes and they'd been forced to high tail it to the surface, only TIE's had cut them off and lit up the backside of the ship like nobodies business. From there, it had been hard to tell if it had been a controlled descent or a free-fall. The last thing Kauri could recall was shouting at the sound of cargo hitting the roof before he had blacked out.
When he awoke, the situation hadn't improved. Kauri Matauenga lay flat upon his back, alarms blaring around him whilst he looked through a blurred gaze as those survivors all desperately fled before the Sith could come down on them to finish the job. His head was pounding, his face wet with his own blood and he had to pry a large wooden crate off of him in order to try to stand. The cargo that had fallen did nothing to make things any easier, his mid-section felt like he'd been kicked by a bull.
What's more...-Where the hell were they planning on running to. From what Kauri gathered as he struggled his way to the airlock already open from the first to make a bolt for it, the vast open landscape was nothing but desert and the occasional cliff face. No Domed Cities, no structures within site. All there was, was a plume of thick black smoke coming from their downed vessel...
"Chit..." He swore under his breath, dropping down to the hardened sand and having nothing left but to make a break for it himself. Screw the others though, they'd go their separate ways and Kauri would take his chances. Hopefully whoever came looking for them would find the larger numbers more appealing and leave him to die out there of his own accord.
