SPECIAL FEATURES
- Midnight Blade: As the shroudsabers are commonly seen, the blade is black with a distinctive white edge.
- Synthetic Kyber Crystal: A synthetic Kyber Crystal often makes the blade unstable which results in the blade fizzling and showering white sparks.
- Balanced: In addition to this saber being light to wield, the hilt is also designed to be balanced. Making the blade suitable for agile and quick maneuvers with the wielder.
- Curved Hilt: Not to make it a custom for Sith lightsabers, but Rath took inspiration of such hilts when he built this saber. He even went as far as indexed the hilt so that it could be comfortably wielded at the center of balance whether it is held by standard grip or reverse grip.
- Focused Lens: Although the blade is shorter than normal, like a shoto, Rath did this simply because to have the blade become focused. Allowing the shroudsaber to have easier time to cut through light and medium armor.
- Synthetic Kyber Crystal: Despite the fact that Rath had the energy focused into a sharper blade, it is still prone to failure due to the crystal being a synthetic which causes a lot of issues to begin with.
- Vulnerable against LS-Resistant Materials: As this is still a lightsaber, contact against lightsaber resistant materials such as the cortosis will short the blade out. Due to the synthetic nature of the crystal, the blade is also vulnerable to sudden shutdowns as well.
- Underwater: A failsafe was installed within the lightsaber so that the synthetic crystal won’t have disastrous results. This includes being in contact with water as the saber cannot function, and because of the unstable frequencies high humidity environments would also cause the failsafe to trigger as well.
- Smol Stabby: Because of the short length of the saber, against a trained duelist with a lightsaber would have the advantage over reach alone. This saber is designed to parry more than attack, but even so it doesn’t do well with blocking heavy weapons.[/FONT]
DESCRIPTION
Upon the design of Rath’s first Shroudsaber that would be the instrument in both martial prowess and promotion to being a Knight of Zakuul. The young Initiate originally wanted to turn it into a regular Shroudsaber for the sake of retaining to tradition. However, as he discovered the long, lengthy process of making the synthetic kyber crystal, the crystal had the tendency to be unstable and prone to failure. If he was to be honest, it made him question as to why such a crystal was being used in the first place other than it was the only resource they had that came close to a lightsaber.
Cultivating an operational kyber crystal took more then two attempts as the crystal tended to explode for various reasons. Eventually, after Rath meditated with the crystal as it was being made to guide the process with careful use of the Force. With the crystal almost humming in his hands, Rath got to work with his hilt which consisted of agrinium and silver. In the drawing process, after much pondering with the sketches and how his fighting style had been progressing with every mission he took. Rath decided to make this shroudsaber into a shoto, and the experiment was to see if the shorter length would help stabilize the crystal’s energy. Unfortunately this proved to be a failure, but on the plus side the smaller blade also made the shoto seem compressed into a thin blade which allowed for greater precise cuts with an incredible edge.
Rath made the shoto with a curved hilt, and he proceeded to make the hilt to be comfortable no matter if he was holding it with a standard grip or reverse grip. He’d like to pride himself into making a good hilt for him to use, but he used shell spider silk to wrap around the hilt that was equally durable as it was comfortable. This served to highlight the silver etchings along the hilt as well.
