Intent: To develop a power core using Sianium and cryogenic cell technology for new droids
Development Thread: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/78063-galvanize-the-rock/
Manufacturer: Aurora Industries
Model: Si-Cryo Hybrid Power Core
Affiliation: Aurora Industries, Open-Market
Modularity: None
Production: Mass-produced
Material: Sianium, durasteel, cryogenic power cell technology, power converter parts
Description:
Following the creation of the Sianium-based power cells for Aurora Industries's Weapon Division, work began on developing a larger power cell for use in Aurora's Droid Division. Deciding that the first type of power cell was too unstable for upscaling, Chief Ujoi of the Hosrel facility began to develop a hybrid power cell using Sianium and cryogenics.
The resulting power core, dubbed the Si-Cryo Hybrid, is far stabler than it's blaster cell counterpart. This due to the cryogenic technology introduced that keeps the Sianium at a cooler temperature and thus lowering its volatile nature. The energy output is still roughly three times the output of current droid power cores, and this stability and output can be increased if the cores are linked in a battery.
However, the cores are not beyond becoming unstable. Pushing the core too much in terms of power output by itself will inevitably cause a rupture and eruption of energy similar to a CryoBan grenade. The cores are also, just like the blaster cells, incompatible for droids not designed with these in mind unless the droids are modified in some way to accept them and handle the energy unleashed by them.
