Description: The SIA-C Construction Exoskeleton, called the SIAC(pronounced Psy-Ack) for short, is a powered durasteel suit designed for construction purposes. The concept arose from variations of clone trooper armor downloaded from the Kamino mainframe by Circe Savan. While light plasteel or duraplast plates may have proven good for body armor utilized by clone troopers during the Clone Wars, Circe knew that her product had to be different, and thus, this durasteel creation was developed.
Vaguely aesthetically similar to the armor of the Clone Troopers and Mandalorians of ages past, the durasteel plates are form fitted, designed to prevent a falling beam or vibrosaw from accidentally slipping through a crack in the suit and injuring the wielder. As well, the chestplate of the suit contains a particle shield generator, designed to protect the wearer from any shrapnel or flying shards of metal that were to fly off of, say, an improperly placed drill bit.
In the event of an injury, the SIAC a couple features to help keep the wearer alive. In two tanks on the back of the suit are canisters of high-quality bacta shipped directly from Thyferra. The suit can detect if a severe injury is sustained and, if it is, the SIAC will automatically dispense bacta to the affected area, helping heal the wound and making sure it won't become life-threatening. To prevent the wearer from shock, the suit's headgear contains a neural band, designed to help keep the mind in check and preventing it from being affected by the pain of a wound, or other outside sources.
To keep the exoskeleton functional, servos and hydraulic rams help allow an ordinary human to wear the suit without suffering a drastic increase in fatigue caused by the wearing of such heavy materials. It also allows them to pick up heavier material, such as durasteel construction beams or large duracrete bricks, making construction easier. The fusion cell powering the suit is located in the back, between the two tanks of bacta.
One thing any user of this suit needs to remember is that this is not a suit of power armor. Its particle shield generator protects against solid projectiles, not blaster bolts, and while the durasteel plates could provide protection from multiple blaster rounds, the SIAC would easily be torn apart by a repeating blaster cannon or other heavy blaster weapon. As well, damage to the fusion cell on the back could shut the suit down entirely, essentially trapping the wearer inside it, and damage to the bacta tanks would cause their contents to leak out, making the system useless. While it could be utilized as a sort of heavy armor, it was not designed as such and has serious vulnerabilities that would need to be addressed before it were to even be used in a combat role.
Like the lack of a helmet.
