- Solar Powered -
As all solar ionization cannons, the SIC-32 Battery hold four concurrent barrels able to penetrate conventional shields with ease. While traditionally these weapons have reduced power compared to various market equivilents, Jaeger was able to maintain at least some semblence of standard stopping power. The true beauty in this is its ability to shoot light alone at such a massive discharge rate that it can burn through durasteel with ease.
[*]Light Show -
- So called The 'Broadstroke' for its ability to fill a sky, the SIC-32 can turn a plasma ridden sky into an artifical playground for a war-built infant star; one made of various rays of light all dedicated to burning through other ships and more. Beautiful to witness, but horrific to receive; this is entirely dependent on the four barrel battery setup meant to simulate the sobering fire rate of more Gatling orientated weapons.
[*]Space Combat -
- With a design based around traditional Turbolasers, one major goal of the battery is to engage at conventional distances for naval broadsides and more. Effectively, each turret has the ideal range from capital to capital ship combat and nothing more; and is certainly not an extremely long range weapon like more conventional hypervelocity cannons.
Weaknesses:
- Complicated Design -
Due to the designs complexity, there is almost no feasible way to repair the device once it has broken. This can result from traditional wear and tear, but more often it comes from the heat of battle. Once down, there is little one can do without redocking in port and calling pre-approved Jaeger consultants and repair men; or risk the chance of untrained technicians attempting to fix the hefty piece of equipment.
[*]Naked Build -
- To allow the already heavy batter to track, aim, and fire a sacrifice was to be made. This was done in regards to its armor, coating with nothing more than very light Alusteel plating and some more ceramic style protection from conventional blaster fire but nothing signifigant. Having almost not protection and an extremely complicated form factor is dangerous for most ships, making it otherwise difficult to be used without a plan in mind from design to battlefield.
[*]Massive Form Factor -
- As all batteries, the weapon is extremely difficult to be put on anything smaller than 1000 meters; effectively making the device restricted to capital ship conflicts exclusively. Although the device itself would fit on something smaller, the need for a large scale reactor and more force anyone considering the design to compensate in a number of ways, most notably by sacrificing other power intensive resources for the device.
[*]Slow On The Draw -
- With its large firepower capacity, and abhorrent fire rate, the device is capable of filling a sky with solar ionization rays; but can not move fast enough to track starfighters and bombers that would otherwise run the length of the vessel. In short, the weapon is unable to fire on anything too small and too fast to outpace its computer systems and motorized set ups. There is almost nothing that can be done about this, and forces it to fill a role other batteries could do with more flexibility.
[*]Hot Potato -
- Because of its substantial fire rate, every second the weapon fires it must take an additional second to cool down. Safety protocols dictate a limit of 30 seconds of continuous fire before it must go into an emergency lock down to stop any of the more sensitive devices inside the weapon to not overheat and be destroyed or otherwise permanently damaged. This once more restricts each weapon to very specific situations with a tactile flair.
DESCRIPTION
As Jaeger Solutions expands its efforts into the future of naval warfare, there is a beauty that comes with it. Unhappy with following traditional 'Big, Faster, Turbolaser' interpretations, Jaeger chose to not reinvent the wheel but to make it all the more round. Insert the SIC-32; a solar ionization battery meant to bring the rare technology into the enviroment of capital ship to ship conflicts. Bypass shields, target sensitive areas of vessels, and let the wall of light produced strike fear into the hearts of all that face her down.
Originally conceptualized on the small scale through Jaeger Solutions 'Taera' Class Swarm Drones, each starfighter is able to bypass shields and produce a very small amount of damage magnified by the pure amount of them. In the same span of thought, Jaeger brought this idea to the world of capital grade weaponry; compensating for the lack of power by creating a large amount of firepower. In short order, most smaller ships with a focus on shield technology become vulnerable to its power while more heavy duty ships are sent precision strikes through a number of preemptive targeting parameters that allow the otherwise 'dumb' targeting to be as accurate as possible.
Jaeger hopes to see the device used in widespread combat in the coming future, one that it will measure in blood and shield generators sent to the scrap yards. To them, it is only a matter of time, and a matter of war for the rest of the galaxy.
