OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
One of Rendili StarDrive's greatest (and most infamous) achievements was the creation of the WhisperThrust engines - fighter-to-freighter sized baffled engines designed to keep the sensor wake of their equipped ships from being detected by prying eyes. While this excellent systems has proven useful across the centuries, one of its main drawbacks has always been its inability to be deployed on larger ships such as frigates. What resulted was a complicated and expensive system, that did its particular and narrow job absolutely splendidly.
Improving on many of the same principles of the WhisperThrust engines of infamy, The SilentThrust engines used cells of a high-density Cryoban-Carbonite mixture, combined with a high-efficiency heat exchanger, to supercool the gases below even the melting point of many exhaust components, which is necessary given the size of ships this system was initially designed for. Combined with a fully optimized system for quickly scattering these supercooled gases once they are ejected from the engine, this provides the SilentThrust engine with a nearly invisible sensor wake, detected only by the most sensitive of sensor suites.
- Intent: Create a high-tech baffled drive for low-observability/non-cloaking stealth ships to use.

- Primary Source:
- Manufacturer: Rendili StarDrive

- Market Status: Closed-Market
- Model: SilentThrust-type Baffled Drive
- Modularity: can be scaled from fighter-size to frigate-sized
- Production: Semi-Unique
- Material:
- Specially engineered nacelles to redirect and scatter exhaust gases
- Carbonite and Cryoban technology used to supercool exhaust gases
- Rig for Silent Running: With the extensive use of cryoban and carbonite cells in the operation of heat-sinks to supercool exhaust gases, and the exploitation of engine baffles to redirect and scatter these supercooled exhaust gases, this drive is capable of pushing a ship through space with the minimal amount of sensor wake, allowing it to maintain stealth or low visibility.
- We're Cavitating: While it's not necessarily the exact same physical phenomenon that causes so much trouble for terrestrial oceangoing vessels, a similar effect is created whenever these drives are pushed above cruising speed or are used in quick bursts regarding its sensor wake. The sheer volume and energy density of the exhaust at higher speeds will trigger safety systems which will disable the baffles and supercooling, leaving the thrusters tossing an exhaust plume just like any other ship of the line.
