Private Silly Games, Silly Prizes

Aayla sat in the bed aboard her Fat Cat transport ship. She had requested Kadan find her when he could, aware he had been away on his own fact-finding mission in a sense. She knew he was busy, but what she had found out was important. It was something he needed to know. She wasn't even sure how she was going to word it really. Having purposely left the invitation vague, but also lighthearted. In any case, things were going to change. Hells, a lotta' things were about to change. She wasn't really ready, and beyond that there was a certain fear of not being ready for just how much her life was about to change.

She had told Valery Noble Valery Noble almost immediately after finding out, though the woman was undoubtedly busy. Valery was everywhere nowadays. Who knew where she was today.

Speak of the devil though, Valery had responded to her message.

She read it briskly and sighed, leaning her head back on her pillow and responding in turn.

'A couple miles outside of Silver Rest, I ended up messaging him. I think he'll be here soon...'

She responded, kicking off her soft boots and continuing to rest. The Loading Ramp for the ship was down, allowing easy access, as she wasn't expecting anyone to attack her here. The only person she knew for a fact that was on the way was Kadan Scipora Kadan Scipora . And Valery likely a few hours behind him, that being said she still had no idea where Valery was.

He felt old, older than he should have felt. There was a sense of weight about his shoulders, like someone had forced a durasteel cloak onto him, and just let it sit there. Just going about now felt...unwieldy. He blamed it on his new assignment, this 'Shadow' stuff was difficult, but it was a good sort of challenge. It helped him with finding his path, the true middle road in a sense. Not that it made life any easier mind you, but, what was life without a little bit of struggle? Boring obviously. So, on his way to meet with his beloved Aayla, that weight on his shoulders was slowly slipping off, little by little. 4U was still plugged into his X-wing on the landing pad just across from him, but it didn't stop the droid from blowing up his comlink. "<Given her behaviors, she's going to ask for marriage, or inform you she's pregnant. It's simple human biology.>" He grimaced, finger over the 'off' switch on his device, brow twitching in irritation.
"No, no. We are not having this talk right now. 4U we talked about this, do not start trying to give me tips on how to date my girlfriend. I'm not going to start second guessing myself because you 'think' you know what's going on." His feet touched the landing ramp, and mistakenly thought he had succeeded in shutting the droid up. "<Well I'm not the one who got her pregnant.>" "She is not-" The 'click' on the other end informed him the droid was no longer listening, and for a long moment, Kadan stared at the device in hand, fuming at the droid on the other side. He took in a breath, and stowed the device, he'd give 4U a talking to later.
Entering onto the ship, he gave it a glance, and was a bit taken at what his girlfriend had acquired. "Can't wait for the story behind this one." He muttered, his footfalls sounding against the hull of the ship, as he felt for her presence, moving through the corridors until he arrived outside her room, and calmly keyed the 'open' switch. The door opened, and he was greeted with the sight of her laying in bed, a smile stretched across his face, now wishing he had worn something nicer than his jedi robes for the occasion. "Sorry, I think I have a reservation here for tonight?" He chuckled, hoping that this talk wouldn't end on as bitter a note as their last one.

Jeez, she was going to be sick again. She felt nervous. She felt like she had trapped him somehow, although it took two to do what had happened. He just had to... Man up. Oh hell, she knew Kadan so well, he would. She needed to Woman up alternatively. Did she just come right out with it? Beat around the bush? No one liked that. What would Valery have done?

Okay, that wasn't exactly a good reference point, considering what she knew about Valeries relationship. What about Phalsi? Hell she hadn't even seen or heard from her friend in months. Force knew where she was...

She turned briefly on her stomach, checking her datapad again to see if Valery had sent any further texts. Nothing yet.

. "Sorry, I think I have a reservation here for tonight?"

She turned, locking eyes with him, then smirking; rolling over onto her back. She hadn't seen him in a while, but missed him all the same.

"Heh, V-I-P, come in..."

She trailed off, shuffling herself about to a sitting position on the side of the bed. Here it came. She had decided to just get to it, and as Kadan made quite literally any action she would just blurt it out, hands flying up in the air quizzically before resting in her lap with a slap of flesh.

"I'm having a b-.. baby... Your baby."

Aayla said, biting her lip and staring Kadan down with curiosity. There, she got it out.

R2-4U might've been owed an apology this time around.

Her response drew a chuckle from him, as he stepped into the room. His hand moved to his hip, unclipping his combat mask and with a small hand motion guided it from his palm to nice little spot on the dresser. Sitting beside her, his arm slipped about her waist, leaning his head into her shoulder to remember the distant memory of their last embrace. Every time it felt like it had been longer and longer since they could sit and talk. Still, she'd always be in his dreams, a candle burning brightly in the dark galaxy he found himself in.
It didn't take long to feel that something was amiss, her mindset was...distant, like she was searching in the backroom for an answer, though the look in her eyes seemed to say that she had failed at finding what she was looking for. He raised an eyebrow, trying to think what this could be about, then she hit him with the bombshell, and his mouth went dry. His eyebrows rose, stomach tightened, and he withdrew his arm, leaning onto his knees. "You're kidding..." He muttered, hands coming up over his face, eyes wincing as he pondered what this meant not just for himself, but the two of them. He took several breaths, and found it didn't help, so turned to the one cure he had for when life became overwhelming. Pulling Aayla into a hug, he placed his head into her shoulder, and managed another breath. "So...what do we do now?"
4U was never going to let him live this down.

Should she really have been expecting any other response than the one he gave. It should've been noted she was hyper-focused on him after she spoke her truth. In that moment she would've been sensitive to any negative emotions from him, although there were none to be felt, other than the nervousness he felt, rolling casually off of her, and rebounding between them. As long as she was calm, it would help him be calm. She felt as though she had pushed him into something he wasn't ready for, but wasn't yet brave enough to admit that. Not to herself, certainly not to him.

"You're kidding..."

Her dull expression was answer enough. She didn't have a punchline for this 'joke'.

Yet still, after her recouped, he treated her with care and tenderness, absolutely what she wanted in the moment. Feeling him close was well enough to give her the extra backbone she needed to move past the facts, and focus on cleaning the situation up promptly and with professionalism. Professionalism. Master Sinvala was going to tear her a new one. She might've reported to a different division entirely now, but they were still the Council members of the Order, and Sakadi was just... Well, there was a reason some people had nicknamed her Mom.

"So...what do we do now?"

"Nothing!"

She blurted out, with a little more emphasis that she had intended. Though she would recoil from him lightly, hands brushing both of his shoulders before resting gently on his chest.

"You, are gonna' keep doing your job. What we do is important, you know that. More than a lot of the other things that are done. Lightness in the dark remember?"

Aayla offered, pressed flat against his chest briefly as she thought.

"I... Am going to talk to the Council tomorrow and be straight with them. I'll ask to be relieved so I can. Can... Well. I'm keeping it. Her... I think, I'm not entirely sure though."

Then Aayla would backtrack, making something of a verbal blunder, though she didn't mean to say what she would say, in the way it would likely sound.

"I don't expect you to take care of it, if you aren't... Ready. I think I am though."

He was uncertain about a great many things. One of which being his future within the order. Despite that, he had always seen Aayla as part of that future, in one facet or another, she was intricate to it. Oddly enough, he had never seen children in that picture, but the future was always in motion according to every other jedi master in the known universe. Aayla's reply startled him for a moment, mostly for how worry laced it sounded. Her hands pressed gently on his chest, and though the anxiety building in his chest was swelling into a knot, but the look in her eyes made it unclench, and he drew in a breath to steady himself.
What she said next was concerning, eyes widening, he cast her a glance that was laced with concern. He couldn't stop her from doing something once her mind was made up, but it didn't mean he couldn't try. Though before he could give an objection, the words died in his throat, and he gave something akin to a disgruntled agreement. "Being direct is sometimes the only approach. Easier to wade in a river than trying to stem the flow itself." He relented, pressing his forehead against her own.

He set his hands atop hers, holding her hands against his chest. She seemed almost uncertain if he wanted to stay by her side. It was a bit of a silly thing, but he understood the uncertainty. From a certain point of view, he could easily just cut and run. Not that he would, never in a thousand years would he consider such a thing. Given his own past, the notion was absurd to even consider. "We're a packaged deal Aayla, I'm not going anywhere." He affirmed, squeezing her hands slightly. "No one is ever really ready for a child, but just like with the force, we train and get better little by little." He wished he sounded half as certain as he sounded.
