"AHHHHHHHH!" screamed Cartri who almost jumped out of his skin from a scene, making his large popcorn go flying over the sofa. He took a deep breath and put a hand on his heart, a small grin filling his face as he looked back to the TV "Ohh... damn it" the teen groaned with a small chuckle. Hesitantly, his head turned back to examine the mess, which unfortunately left a big pile of popcorn stacked on the floor. Recently, after the incident with Daiya Daiya he decided to get his head into gear and clean up the apartment. Other than a few holes left in the walls he did a decent job and even bought new furniture out of his own pocket. Yet, even with the new improvements the apartment still had that cranky feel like before. Lazily, he got up from his seat and grabbed a worn out brush, slowly guiding the pile towards the kitchen

BEEEEP went a datapad suddenly, alerting him of a new message that had popped up in his inbox. Cartri shot a look to the device and slowly stopped the chore, curiously going to the sofa once more to see who contacted him "The what now?" he said to himself when his eyes first rested on the author. What was the silver Jedi doing contacting him? wait no it couldn't be...

"Good day, Mr. Keswoll

On behalf of the Silver Jedi Order, I am contacting you to let you know that we have dispatched a Jedi Knight to Denon regarding your training in the Force.

This arrangement was put forth by your legal guardian, Ms. Xanai Deesa, and approved by Jedi Knight Cas Tynen. The Knight meeting you is Jedi Knight Yenna. She is a small individual with green skin and a peculiar speech pattern.

Please reply to us regarding a meeting location so we can get you settled with your new teacher as smoothly as possible. We hope that the aid of our Knight will be of great benefit to you.

Kind regards,

Tess Caldera
Silver Jedi Order."

By the end his eyes were wide in a mixture of shock and sadness, Xan really did go through with her promise. He eagerly began to type something out but something deep down prevented his fingers from moving. A memory almost forgotten resurfaced in his mind, as well as an item that was taken from that time. An antique book lay dormant on the shelf, worn yet well looked after. That alone reminded him of an offer Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim gave him to be a part of their academy, something of which returned to question him again at the perfect time. He stood silent for a few minutes and stared expressionless at the screen, in deep thought as to what would benefit him most. But in the end, there was really one option.

"Dear Tess Caldera,

Thank you for contacting me on this matter. My location will be Encrypted at the very top of the complex in a few moons time. And please, try not to pull anything funny on me because I won't hesitate in walking away from this entirely.

With thanks, Cartri"

Once he sent the short and sweet message he slowly turned the datapad off and placed it on the seat, a smile coming back from the thought of finally being able to control his power. Even when she was gone, Xan found a way to come back and make him happy. If only she was here to see this moment. Frowning slightly he turned off the tv as well as the lights, retreating back into his bedroom to rest up his body for the big day. Who knew what was going to come...

The days almost seemed to zoom by as the time finally arrived to meet this "knight" on the roof. Wearing a casual jumper and jeans he snailed his way to the top floor and exposed himself to the cold and stinking air of the city, an environment he didn't think he'd ever get used to. For now he was alone, but any moment this Jedi was going to arrive and he needed to make the best impression possible. The teen tiredly walked to a large box against a wall and placed himself on top, leaving his feet to dangle as he leaned up against the wall and folded his arms. At first, he thought he could keep his heavy eyes open, but soon his mind took over and welcomed him into a nice and peaceful nap. It wasn't wise to do such a thing at an important meeting like this, but a few minutes wouldn't hurt...

Yenna was quite taken back when she was told that she was going to have to go to Denon every month or so to train a kid. She knew what it was about. It was an agreement between her master and his friend. Xan, if her memory served correctly. But as far as she knew, Cas was supposed to do that. Now if came down to her, just after she got her first padawan. She was missing her padawan days already. At least she knew about Denon and what the planet was like. It wouldn't be a boring trip, that she was sure about. Plus there was a certain sense of duty in her to help out a child who didn't know their own power.

She eventually reached the address given to her by this Cartri Keswoll. The only problem was that she was an hour late. She had sent a message to him to let him know that she was going to run late... making sure to leave out the part where she got lost a couple times, almost got mugged, and stopped for a quick meal after helping herself to a rich man's wallet. He didn't need to know that she would likely fit like a glove in the sea of beggars, thieves and other dregs of society. Her worn robes certainly helped her blend in nicely.

She made her way up to the rooftop of the apartment complex and was rather surprised by what she saw. The boy matched the description given to her, but he seemed to be fast asleep. A smirk crept across her features as she calmly walked over to him and reached out with her tiny hand. Using the Force, she gently shook him awake and gave a warm grin. "A bad time, I hope it's not." she quipped gently with a chuckle. "For my first impression, I apologize. Knight Yenna, I am." she introduced herself with a light bow then looked up to him again.

"To meet you, a pleasure it is, Cartri Keswoll." she continued. This was certainly not how she saw this first meeting starting out.

Time flew by, seconds turned into minutes, minutes turning into hours. He seemed to be sleeping peacefully on the crate, not a care in the world for what was around him. Yet, that would soon be interrupted by the very thing he was waiting for. Gently, something shook him awake, forcing him to open his eyes with a groan. As he rubbed his eyes he was confused at first as to what awoke him, considering there wasn't anyone in front or around him. Although, when a voice spoke from below his head slowly peered over the crate to see a small creature. Cartri knew from the message that she was going to be small, but he wasn't expecting his teacher to be at knee height.

"It's not a bad time by any means... it was my fault for drifting off to sleep on our first meeting," he said tiredly as he slowly lowered himself off the crate, before kneeling down and leaning himself up against the crate to get on his teachers level "Good to meet you Yenna, although, I've got to admit something," he said hesitantly, almost as if he didn't want to be rude to his new teacher on the first meeting "I knew you were going to be small, but I wasn't expecting you to be... you know..." Cartri said the teen shyly as he slowly put a hand through his hair, his eyes looking at the unusual looking alien with a nervous chuckle

Disregarding her height and small stature, he was sure Yenna knew everything that was needed to know about the force, As well as a way to finally control the force and the anger that only fueled it. Even though he was still indifferent about his former mentor, Xan always knew what she was doing.

"So, uh... how was your trip? I hope you didn't run into any problems considering the state of the planet"

A smile formed as he admitted to falling asleep... and commented on her stature. She left the comment for later as he asked about her trip. "Alright, the trip was. Some trouble with hoodlums, I almost ran into. Luckily, an impression on this planet, a Jedi still has." she admitted. "Not too bad, the food is also." she continued.

"Also, worry about size, you do not. MEaningless, size is, in the Force." she quipped. With a flick of her hand, the crate behind Cartri slid back a few feet as Yenna snickered away. She made sure to catch him with the Force if he did fall backwards. "Get indoors, shall we? Get to know each other better, we can then. Learn more about you, I wish to." she asked. It might have been a rather forward way of putting it, but she wanted to know what she was dealing with. How much he knew about the Force and, perhaps more important, what underlying issues he had. She drifted closely to it herself at one point, desperation turning into temptation by the Dark Side. If someone was in too deep, teaching them about the Force could result in disaster. She didn't want to let this child fall into into that pit.

Once they were on their way, she leapt through the air and gently landed on his shoulders. "Mind, I hope you do not. A bit bothersome, walking around is." she admitted with a smile. Luckily she barely weighed anything.

"Size? I don't really know if- whoaaa!" Cartri yelled as the crate behind him was suddenly pulled back from behind, sending falling backwards to the concrete below. However, the boy wouldn't feel the hard surface at all. Instead, he'd feel weightless as he hovered inches off the floor. Cartri suddenly lowered his hands down and leaned himself up, a small smile crossing his lips as she looked back to the jedi "I don't think there was a need for that" he said while putting a hand through his hair and getting to his feet, slightly concerned as he looked down to the puny jedi below

"Uh... sure. My apartment is just a few floors down from here, I'm sure it will be a better place to talk compared to the mess up here" the teen stated, before beginning to walk over to the roof entrance. As he opened the door he wasn't expecting Yenna to jump onto his shoulder, almost making him jump out of his skin "Wheeey! can you please warn me the next time you do that" he said with a nervous chuckle, finally opening the door and walking down the stairwell with yenna on top "But no I don't mind. It's just strange for someone to be doing that" he said openly, trying to make sure he wasn't going to fast to the point where she was struggling to keep on.

Walking up to his door, he opened the entrance with a firm tug and slowly entered, revealing the clean yet shabby apartment he was living in "It's not much, but for the past few months I've called it home" he said, his eyes glaring at some of the leftover holes in the wall from his past rages. All he hoped was that the Jedi didn't question them and left them alone entirely. Cartri led the jedi to the couch and allowed her to get off on the comfy furniture, leaving her to her own devices as he walked over to Xans untouched room to the right "If you're staying for a long period, you can use this spare room as a place of rest. I doubt the person who used it last will be needing it again" the boy said, flashing a quick frown as he sneakily pushed a plant pot across a hole that was in plain view

Nervously, he wiped his clothes down before walking back to the jedi and placing himself on the couch, looking at her with an unsure expression "So, what do you want to know about me?" Cartri asked, his legs swinging up onto the couch where he could raise them and wrap his arms around his knees in a comfy sitting position

Cartri was understandably taken by surprise as she landed on his shoulders, though she made sure not to make it uncomfortable for him as he walked them down to his apartment. "Don't worry. A lot, it might happen." She joked with a snicker as they descended the levels and approached his apartment.

They entered and he took her to the couch, allowing her to hop off. She landed gracefully and sat down, looking around the place. The blaster holes and chipped paint didn't go unnoticed by her, but she was focused on something else. There were a lot of warm memories and emotions in the apartment that were clear as day. "At all, not bad it is." She spoke up with a warm smile. However there was something else she could feel. There was something wrong in the apartment. It felt faint at first, but it felt clearer with each passing moment as she sat on the couch. It was confirmed with Cartri's own sinking mood as he offered her the guest room.

Yenna didn't respond. She sat quietly with crossed legs and closed eyes as she took in the surroundings, focused on what this feeling was that was constantly bugging her. He joined her by the couch and her ears twitched as he spoke to her, asking what she wanted to know about him. "Your pain." She muttered involuntarily. Her eyes shot open with concern and sympathy as she looked up at him. "A heavy weight, you have. Happened, something has. Pain, you are in." She muttered softly as her golden eyes were locked onto him.

She realized what she was doing and quickly looked away, clearing her throat. "My apologies." She looked back to him. "What... happened?" She asked carefully. At the end of the day, she had to get to the bottom of this. It could be dangerous to have that pain linger during their training.

A startled looked crossed his face when she mentioned his pain, something which he had been living with all his life. Uknowingly, he shuffled uncomfortably in his sitting position, almost as if the thing he hoped she wouldn't ask was mentioned before his very ears. He nervously looked to his side and sniffed a few times, hesitanted about opening his mouth to say anything "I...I was a castaway" he finally murmured, keeping his voice to a low tone to match his feelings.

"Before all this Darkwire stuff I was put into an orphanage for most of my life. Fifteen years I stayed there, lost and confused about why they threw me away like trash. Now and then I'd get so angry I was almost uncontrollable, leaving me frowned upon and unfavorable to every adult that looked at me..." he explained with a long stare, his face expressionless and untelling "When Darkwire found me, they gave me a fresh start where I could finally live the life I wanted. When I first arrived on the planet Xan was always a big help to me, a mentor if you want to call it that. She offered me a roof over my head and adventures which could fill the appetite of any person for a lifetime, something that I will forever be grateful for. As I got to know her better we became more like brother and sister, almost to the point where we're almost inseparable. But... in the end that wouldn't be true"

Cartri gulped and wiped a runaway tear falling down his cheek. In all honesty, his heart was still broken in two from the breakdown of their relationship. A part of him wanted to go looking for her and give her the biggest hug in the galaxy, but his heart was still mad and disgusted with how she left him to rot like his "parents". Cartri just couldn't bear going through abandonment again...
"After a mission, she decided to fake her death and leave me sulking in grief for months. At that time, she didn't think of checking in on me to say she was alright. Everything other than me was important to her. To Xan, I was just another person she didn't care about.

The moment Yenna felt the shift from him, she realised that she greatly overstepped her bounds with her observations. That guilt only rose further when he started to tell his story.

But as bad as it was, she knew exactly what was going on within him. That pain and buried anger was something she was very familiar with. She might not have been thrown away or brushed off like Cartri was, but outliving two different pairs of parents and her husband, on top of other things, drilled into her heart and left a lasting scar on her. She could understand his pain.

There was one aspect of turmoil, though. His ‘sister’ as he described her. This ‘Xan’ person. The conflict around her wasn’t lost on the Jedi. With a saddened gaze and a sunken heart she listened to his every word until he finished.

She said nothing as she hopped over to his couch and wrapped her tiny arms around his chest as best she could in a tight hug. ”Your pain, I understand.” She muttered as she pulled away to look up at him. ”... Alone, you are not. Fix all of this, I can not, for you. But... help you, I can. That pain...” a tiny hand rested over his heart. ”... I know. Disappear, it does not. But... allow me, if you... help you, I want to. A good soul, you are, Cartri. More like you, the galaxy needs.” Her tone was soft and gentle as she stepped away from him.

”Questions, if you have... please ask. Never hesitate.” She hopped back to her seat and sat back again with her short legs outstretched. ”With training, we begin tomorrow. Right now... about each other, we can learn. A short ride, this will not be.” A smile formed on her lips as she glanced out of the window for a moment. ”For fun, what do you usually do?” She asked him calmly. She wanted to get his mind off the painful memories.

Getting him to move past them was going to be a challenge. But it needed to be done. Though that would happen in time. Coruscant wasn’t built in a day, after all. ”Floating around, any gossip stories?” A mischievous smirk formed as she looked at him with glimmering golden eyes.
