Silver Sea (Atretes)

Dreya Shynn

Guest
I walk across the surface of a silver sea. It is cool beneath my feet. The snow glimmers like crystal in the sunlight of the dawn. I came to find the solace of isolation. The cities and their liveliness were a nice change for a time. But even they became chaotic. I had to find a place to be alone. I stand as the breezes of eternal winter caresses my skin. Here, there is silence. Stillness. Peace. In this moment, I am free.

The abyssal white was cold. Atretes wore his Templar armour, but underneath layers of a coat and wrappings over that. He may have looked like an ice wraith, but the important part was that he was almost completely warm. His weapons were under the cumbersome layered robe he wore on top of it all, and his goggles shone out from beneath his hood like black gems. The daytime side of Hoth was a realm of snow-blindness, so the Apprentice used the difficulty of seeing to hone his Miraluka-like vision in the Force. He saw past the corporeal distractions and could make his way using this other form of sight. It was difficult to focus in these extreme conditions, but it was worth stretching that biological, imaginary muscle. The threads of the Force hummed, and he looked toward the direction of the presence.

He couldn't make out the visage, but he could roughly see the outline that was humanoid. He kept to himself. Perhaps he would go unnoticed.

I toy with the ring on my finger. This ring that keeps me imprisoned for the liking of others. With a sigh, I slip it from my finger. I let my true self come out. My purple-burgundy hair grows longer, turning silver. My feathered wings become visible, the same silver. It feels good to release myself in this way. I flap my wings a few times, the snow gusting in little tornadoes around my feet. I let my feet lift off of the ground a few feet.

The figure's signature in the Force fluttered. A strange anomaly that drew his attention. He turned to look and saw that the humanoid shape had changed slightly, though the details he still could not see. He sat then, curious to this creature, and watched as it moved and what it did. He could not tell if it was male or female, only that it was a curious sight.

I coax the tendrils of snow beneath me to follow me into the sky. Summoning them to my chest, I will them to melt. They obey, becoming liquid. I hold the small river in the air next to me. I shape it into the form of my Mother, Circe. Content with it's likeness, I set it on the ground. It refreezes, now a testimony to my adopter. I smile. While most merely saw me as a freak of nature or a mindless experiment, she alone saw me as a daughter. For that, I am forever grateful to her.

The energy coming off the creature seemed to be strong, but not powerful per se. He could feel the flow of power be moulded to the being's will and then it released its grip, and he could vaguely see the shadow of what the entity before him had created. It vaguely looked like a person, but he had no idea who or what it was really supposed to be. He stood and moved to take his leave. He didn't really want to be on this massive cryo chamber of a planet much longer, and he still needed to find his ship in this whitewashed mess.

I sense someone else in this moment. It turn in the air to see someone covered in white, walking away. Intrigued, I decide to follow from the air.

Atretes sensed that the being wasn't growing any distant. He assumed that it followed him. As long as it didn't mean him harm, he wouldn't worry about it. Right now he had more pressing matters, like finding his ship in this freezer.

As I follow the being, I notice that they are looking for something. What could they have lost? This area of Hoth was extremely flat and desolate. It wouldn't be very difficult to spot something. Unless of course it was buried in the snow. Yes. that must be the problem. Well, if I'm going to offer my aid, I might as well let them know I'm here. I swoop down, and land on the snow right beside them. "You seem lost," I say.

The sudden acceleration toward him made him spin around, but when he was greeted by words he calmed himself and, despite his usual wariness, decided that getting help from this ... person? Would be better than no help at all.

"I was caught in a blizzard earlier," he explained, "And may have become turned around. I'm looking for my ship, wherever it got off to..." he muttered the last three words as though his ship were mischievous child.

I grin a bit. My reflective silver eyes act like mirrors, the snow making them appear white. "It must be a very naughty vessel to have run off without you," I say softly. I turn and look at the flatness of the horizon. "I can help you look, if you like. I'm sure with you searching the ground and me searching the skies, we're bound to find it."

Atretes looked out around and gave a nod as response. Teamwork was always a better alternative to lone work, and perhaps this... girl would be useful. The voice sounded feminine, at any rate. He remembered that there were things called manners then, and decided to introduce himself accordingly.

"Name's Atretes, by the way. I appreciate the help."

I nod. "You can call me Dreya." I say. I begin thinking about his lost ship. "Where was your ship before it vanished, Atretes?"

The young Templar looked out along the snow and tried to think back. Everything looked the same here, though. He could sense the energy of it, though. It was... below him?

"I left it here, I think, because I can sense it under the snow..." he said with a hint of confusion.

I nod. Gently, I take his arm. "I will get it out, then." I use the wind around us to lift him slightly, and I fly him backward a ways. When he is on the ground once more I fly back to the ship's burial place. I use both the wind and the water inside the snow. I move it upward in a large torrent, a great funnel of snow. I disperse it outward across the plain. As this is done, Atretes's ship is revealed.

The sensation of flight was... strange. To say the least. When he was set back upon the snow he found it difficult to keep his footing in the powder again, but ultimately kept his balance. He watched, in slight amazement, as [member="Dreya Shynn"] lifted the snow and sent it out of the area like a reverse-tornado. He could see the waves in the Force flowing through the snow and the female, and then the disruption settled and he looked down to see the black hull of the KWS Morvak glistening with moisture.

"Thank you." he said, happily yet quietly, before he slid down the hill of snow and tapped in the combination to open the loading ramp. He turned then, to Dreya, to either talk more or say his goodbyes. He was behind schedule on returning to his mentor, but he also didn't want to be impolite.

I smile warmly. "You're welcome." I land on the ground in front of him. Taking the ring from my pocket, I slide it onto my finger. My wings vanish, and my hair becomes burgundy once more. "Are you going to be able to fly it? Is it damaged?" I ask.

"I'm... not sure, actually." Atretes said. He saw [member="Dreya Shynn"] lower and her visage change, and he removed his goggles now that he was out of the sun. He looked upon her and took note of her appearance, then moved to go inside.

"Come along, if you like." he called out as he vanished into the ship to check the hull integrity, then fire up the controls and run a diagnostic.

I don't want to impose, but my curiosity gets the better of me. I follow him inside. It isn't a bad ship. Quite nice to me, in fact. I wait patiently for Atretes near the landing door, letting him finish what he needs to do.

"Right, everything checks out. A little fluid in the exhaust ports but that will clear up as soon as I do this..." Rhoujen muttered to himself before he flicked in the engines. Steam immediately billowed from around the exhaust ports and the engines themselves. The young man smiled and went through and made sure everything was still intact and functioning properly. Satisfied, he went over to speak with his guest.

"All appears to be functional. I should really get back to my studies now. Do you need a lift?" Atretes offered politely. He didn't know if the girl had a ship or anything, but he thought it would be the nice thing to do.
