- Blaster Begone: As with Braith's earlier textile creation, the fabric made from woven spidersilk and powdered durasteel, the Simmerscale Jacket has been impregnated with a metal, alchemized, in order to retain this quality of defense. Rather than utilizing the faulty method of powdering durasteel, which opens a whole can of worms from failure to reflect to rapid heat exchange on an incredible level, Braith instead moved forwards with woven steel instead, in this case hybrid plexisteel. The material is woven with the Ankarax leather and the sunshield fabric while it is still relatively hot, which gives the exterior of the jacket its glossy appearance and allows for a much more balanced spread of materials. Like with simmersilk and glistaweb, this jacket also carries a charge-neutralizing field, only more efficiently so than simmersilk of the past.
- Blood of the Gods: As with nearly every single other creation made by Braith, each fabric - when handled with alchemy - was infused with some varying portion of her own blood. This allows her, as a blood trail might, to both differentiate the material from another and track and locate it through the force. This is more of an anti-theft method, or perhaps a precautionary measure in the instance she might loan the jacket to Corvus, in order to always keep an eye on her belongings.
- Anti-Sunlight: Being an Alunrovaan, Braith is hindered by sunlight. While it doesn't spell immediate disintegration or any other dramatic death upon exposure to sunlight, ultraviolet light does cause rather severe burns on her skin when exposed for long periods of time. To prevent this, all of her own personal clothing utilizes sunshield fabric to keep the rays off of her sensitive skin. The jacket, of course, is no different, and actually utilizes an alchemized variant to ensure that her arms and shoulders, as well as her chest - though this is obviously meant to be worn over clothing - would be kept free of those incredibly painful and rather debilitating burns.
Created as nothing more than a fashionable or at least desirable garb that might provide some limited defensive capabilities in minor combat situations, as she rarely actually gets into any fights except with wielders of the force or those who fight similarly, that would double for casual-wear, the simmerscale jacket mirrors the properties of simmersilk rather well, improving in some parts where she noticed that simmersilk was held back - though it was mostly due to the fact that simmersilk was, in fact, silk.
The primary focus of the jacket was to defend her torso and arms from blaster fire while also providing extremely light defense from glancing lightsaber strikes. Any form of contact with a direct strike from a lightsaber would cut right through the material, alchemy or not, as it was not created with the density to protect from such. In some ways this helps the jacket, keeping it lighter than a lightsaber-resistant coat might, but it certainly keeps it from being what could have been a very valuable and expensive piece of "armor". Compared to most leather jackets it is rather average in weight, though it is also a bit thinner in order to stay that way.
