- Blaster-Begone: Through the application of Sith Alchemy the fibers of each thread of shell spider silk and sunshield fabric have been impregnated with a fine dust of alchemized durasteel, and through various rituals and just the right application of heat and cold at various points of the weaving process, the fabric of the Simmersilk has developed a reverse magnetic polarity, as with Sith Swords and other metals altered through Sith alchemy, and a charge-neutralizing field which surrounds each thread of the fabric. This causes blaster rounds that strike the fabric to reflect off the surface, not unlike glistaweb. However, this process is not perfect and there are moments where the weaving process of the material may have left a vulnerability in the fabric which may allow a blaster round to at least impact with the material rather than reflect, but it redirects blaster rounds at a far greater frequency than traditional shell spider silk armor has in the past.
- Blood of the Gods: The creator of this material is none other than Braith Ma'at Achlys, the fabric created during her early life on Pax Insul to allow her to venture outdoors during sunlight without literally burning alive. However, because of the primitive tools available at the time of its creation, Braith has used her own blood (in small quantities) to use as a part of the alchemical process. Due to the presence of her own essence in each of these fabrics, Braith is able to differentiate its material from others through the force.
- Anti-Sun: Because Braith is literally burned alive whenever her bare skin is exposed to the ultraviolet light of the sun, or any UV source, this material was specifically designed to block the rays of the sun, and to a limited degree other sources of UV light, with the inclusion of a fabric woven to block light from penetrating its exterior (Sunshield fabric). Due to the fact that is a woven material, there are obviously times where it would rip, causing her to be exposed to the light, as well as any other points of exposure.
An intricate, rather expensive (if sold), fabric. Simmersilk was designed first and foremost to protect Braith from the harmful rays of the sun and other sources of ultraviolet light, while a secondary benefit of the various additions of alchemy and dusted durasteel have resulted in a charge-neutralizing field that thinly covers the fabric and reflects incoming blaster rounds. Failing that, the alchemical durasteel that was impregnated along the woven fabric has, through the process of alchemy, essentially coated the threads of the fabric with layers of alchemized durasteel featuring a reversed magnetic polarity that would also increase defense from blaster rounds, reflecting as a Sith Sword would. In many ways this fabric bares similarities to glistaweb utilized by Yuuzhan Vong - in that both materials reflect blaster bolts - but it is clear that Glistaweb is far more efficient in doing so, and much easier to produce (especially in larger numbers). Due to the addition of Sith alchemy, and powered metals, the weight of the fabric per square-meter is nearly triple that of normal silk.
While the protective abilities are a great addition to the material, there are also secondary traits of the fabric present. First and foremost, the inclusion of Braith's blood acts much like a Nightsister Blood Trail (except they can't be tracked as well, or as far, as the sort used by the Nightsisters of Dathomir) which allows the so-called goddess of the ancient people of Pax Insul to differentiate her own material from others through the force. Due to the fabric being, well, fabric, it offers little to no resistance to any other forms of damage, besides maybe cushioning a punch or a kick here, and the occasional glancing strike from a stray knife there. The fabric itself may be dyed to appear as different colors, rather than a pale grey. Also, the material would be completely shredded by a lightsaber and has no resistance to it at all.
