Simple Mistakes

ONDERON
Myles Vylumnar, 'The Stargazer'

Another day, another bounty. Recently, Myles had been finding himself taking more and more bounties. Usually, it wasn't really his thing, but it paid really well. This time, he'd been on another hunt. His target was last seen on Onderon, doing 'business'. Gonk Tralzin, Mandalorian turned bounty hunter. Typical, he thought. Bloodthirsty space-hicks finding ways to make money off of being bloodthirsty space-hicks. He spun around in his swivel-chair in the cockpit of The Stargazer, lurking just outside of Onderonian airspace. He watched, scanning for transponder codes. A particular ship caught his eye.

"Kaz, that the ship? I thought he'd be flying a freighter or something..." he said, pointing out to a lone X-wing exiting the planet's atmosphere. A half-awake Toydarian buzzed in.

"Mmhmm...Yes, that is it." he grumbled before buzzing off.

The Stargazer flew in, sending a volley of blaster-fire toward the X-wing.

"Locking on... Let's see what you're made of, Tralzin."

Little did the pair realize, the ship's transponder codes had been swapped... Kaz was just too careless to notice...

Zephora had been on Onderon for a little while. She met up with someone to grab something to eat and talk for a little while. She had discussed a possible business deal with him to earn some money. Her X Wing needed some improvements. Her comms were fuzzy including her holocam. Plus she also needed new paints for the outside of her ship on her freetime. Zeph loved making art along with flying and being a Jedi. Nothing could really top flying, though the three mentioned helped each other.

While Zephora was making her way off of the planet a ship registered on her scanners. There was a steady stream exiting and entering the planet but these guys were just sitting there. Probably looking for someone.. that's what she thought at least. Zeph looked to her left to see the ship sitting idly as she passed by. She just had to wonder.. Why were they just sitting there?

As soon as she passed by, there was all of a sudden beeping warning her of blasterfire. Who the kriff was shooting at her?? It wasn't like her outfit offended the man she met with, so why the heck was she being shot at? Who knew but if this was going to be the way it went, so be it.

"Alright.. you wanna shoot at me? Lets play."

she said under her breath as she flipped a few switches here and there. Now Zephora was going to fly for real. Pulling the nose of the ship up, she went full speed and flew above them upside down, doing pirouettes through the starry sky as she decided to head back towards Onderon.

The medium freighter flew a loop, twirling to straighten out. They chased the starfighter towards Onderon, intent on capturing their 'bounty'.

"Kaz, reroute power from the shields and to the weapon systems and engines, they're not firing back." he said. Soon after, the ship's shields weakened. The freighter picked up in speed as it chased down the starfighter. Suddenly, a shock blast erupted from the ship's Shock Cannons. With Myles' flying skills coupled with the ship's accuracy and targeting systems, the chances of a miss were rather slim, even for a skilled pilot. Hopefully, they'd actually be caught in dead space and not close enough to the planet's atmosphere... If they were already within the planet's gravitational pull, their ship would just plummet down to Onderon, with a possibility of survival.

A transmission would come in from the attacking freighter.

"Give up, Tralzin. We're on your tail and you're not going anywhere else. If you just surrender, maybe we'll consider being nice."

[member="Zephora Bridger"]

Zephora growled in annoyance as she sped towards Onderon. She was a good pilot and had no idea why she was being chased. But still she accepted a challenge when it was presented in front of her. Another beeping sound could be heard coming from her control panel and looking to it, she could see that her shields were weakening again.

"But I just fixed you last week!!"

she exclaimed yelling at her shield generator. Soon, she had no shields. Zeph would have to go towards the planet if she was going to get out of this. Not having time to regret her moves, she punched it, speeding up and entering the planet's atmosphere, just as a shockwave came over her ship. Zephora saw it as it came towards her ship, but by the time she did, she had no room or time to react. Zeph was hit and her ship was lost. The only thing that seemed to work was her comm system and even then, it was still fuzzy. She listened, but she had little time to care.. but a name did come across her that she didn't recognize.

"Talzin? Who the heck is Talzin?"

She asked herself under her breath. Unfortunately with her comms being the way the were, when she transmitted, she would sound like a man. It was something Zeph planned to fix, but she had no money to do so. Contacting the big ship following her back, she responded, distorted voice and all.

"I don't know what you're talking about, but if you want a fight I'll see you on the surface."

With that, she closed her comms and plumetted towards the surface. She literally had no choice. Zeph did the best she could to make the landing as soft as possible, but it still threw her around, knocking her out for a second.

~ [member="Myles Vylumnar"] ~

Myles smirked slightly as he saw [member="Zephora Bridger"]'s ship plummet down to Onderon. Another ship shot down and another bounty collected. All that was left was to confirm the kill, so he began flying in after. Surprisingly, a transmission would come in. The voice was garbled and distorted, so the comms were probably wrecked, but Myles could make it out.

"Heh, hey Kaz! This little Mando hillbilly wants a fight on the surface!" he'd yell out, laughing to himself shortly after. He thought it was far-fetched for someone survive a crash like that, even if Myles was able to do it at one point. Even then, Myles held himself in high regard when it came to skills as a pilot. If whoever was flying that ship could survive, he'd surely be impressed.

Myles flew in after the ship. It was not long before they entered Onderon's atmosphere that Myles lost sight of the ship, but he was still able to track it. Luckily, it had landed somewhere off in the jungle away from any cities. No cities, no people. No people, no one to mess up this job. Eventually he came up upon a crash-landed X-wing in a clearing. It had skidded across the ground, but for the most part it seemed intact for a ship that had just collapsed from thousands of miles up. It reminded Myles of not long ago when he had done the same thing during the Battle of Shiva IV.

Now, all that was left was to search the ruins and confirm the kill...

((BTW I think you misread my post. When I said "the ship's shields lowered" I was talking about my ship, not yours. I was trying to give u a chance to fire back but it's all good lol))

This guy may have thought that he was collecting his bounty, but Zephora had better plans for him. She had the element of surprise on her side and there was almost no doubt that she could surprise him. He thought she was some dude that they were chasing, but truth be told, they were chasing a young Togruta teen that didn't take anyone's crud.

Even though it didn't make a huge difference, Zephora pulled hard on the ship's controls, just to try and get it to land softer than what it would at full force. The ship sped faster and faster towards the surface, going only slightly slower due to her yanking on the yokes so hard. It soon crashed in the forest far from civilization, but you could definitely tell where she crash landed. Upturned trees and soil lined the way to where her ship sat. Zephora wasn't dead, but she was unknowingly injured. Any faster and she probably could have been impaled.

Opening her eyes, Zephora's vision cleared, coming back to her senses as a shooting pain came from her left arm and abdomen. Sensing someone near her ship, Zephora popped the emergency hatch on her ship and jumped up to the wing that was still in tact. Then letting the pain register in her mind, she looked to see a glass shard lodged in her stomach and left bicep. They were at least large enough to pull out, which she did with a grunt and then looked up to see who shot her down.

Zeph then pulled the hilts of her sabers out, igniting their green blades and jumping down to them, holding her ground. Zephora had blasters on her hips, but she wasn't able to pull those out as quick as her lightsabers. Zeph was in severe pain and was on the edge from falling over, but she used the force to give her strength just to stand.

~ [member="Myles Vylumnar"] ~

As The Stargazer pulled in to land in the clearing, Myles watched with intent from the ship's cockpit. Two green lightsabers glowed from behind the wreckage, the person wielding them had been covered by some debris. Lightsabers? It was quite a surprise that their bounty carried lightsabers. While Mandalorians wielding the weapons of the Jedi and Sith wasn't such a rare occurrence these days, Gonk Tralzin didn't seem the duelist type. Then again, it was rumored he'd once slain a Jedi Padawan, so perhaps said rumors were true and the lightsabers were kept as trophies. 'Probably doesn't even know how to use 'em', he thought.

Myles landed his ship, the landing port lowering down. As he exited, the young man appeared surprisingly young. He wore a simple leather jacket with a blaster strapped to his side, almost like a wannabe Han Solo. His DLT-20A longblaster wrapped over his shoulder with a strap as he held it in arms, prepared to shoot. Unfortunately for him, dealing with lightsaber-duelists was no easy task, even if it was just some Mando-hick. The closest thing he had to a melee weapon was his vibroknife, which would barely be any match against a lightsaber. Luckily, he was packing some heat in his back pocket, sure to take out any fool with a lightsaber...

"Come on out, Gonk! You said you wanted a fight... It's gonna take a lot more than a little chit-talk to... Uh...?" his voice trailed off in shock as he realized who he was facing against. It was not in fact infamous bounty hunter Gonk Tralzin, but actually one young Togruta girl, by the looks of it slightly younger than Myles, by the name of [member="Zephora Bridger"].

"You're not Gonk Tralzin..."

Zephora's injuries took a great toll on her, but she wasn't going to let these injuries get to her unless they got really bad. Waiting until she felt that she was ready to move, was when she heard voices. Zephora could see the ship through the smoke emanating from around her and her ship. Zephora jumped off of the wing of the ship and limped through the smoke to approach the man before her.

First she stayed in the smoke, pulling out one piece of glass she had missed from her abdomen. She grunted and that was when the man stopped talking and realized that she was completely someone different than who he thought. That was when she came into the light and revealed herself, injuries and all. She dressed like she was in the military, but simple. She wore a dark green crop top, black skinny jeans tall boots and a utility belt for her sabers and blasters.

When the man pointed out the obvious of her identity, Zephora scoffed.

"No kidding. Who the heck are you and what the kriff do you think you were doing gunning down my ship? I just fixed it last week and now I have pieces of it in me. If this was your ship, how do you think you were going to pay for it??"

She asked. Zephora still had her sabers ignited and she held them in the reverse hold, while she waited for his response, no matter how much this hurt. No matter what, she still wanted answers.

~ [member="Myles Vylumnar"] ~

Still, he remained cautious. Even if this girl wasn't who he was looking for, she still had two lightsabers and was probably pretty pissed. Myles snapped back to attention, training his sights on the young padawan. He kept steady and maintained his distance, still unsure of who this was or why they had Gonk's transponder codes... Maybe she works for him? No, doesn't seem likely. Perhaps it was a possibility that Gonk somehow swapped codes and fled the system. If that were the case, then they'd have a lot more work ahead of them. The young Togruta angrily questioned him, to which Myles would respond with some questioning of his own.

"...I'm guessing you haven't realized you've got someone else's transponder codes... That, or you stole that ship." he replied. Myles subtly shuffled his feet for positioning, preparing himself in case of an attack. Usually, Force-users can often be quite unpredictable. They've got huge arsenals and tactics under their sleeves, so you'd never really know what they'd do next.

"Where is Gonk Tralzin? I don't wanna have to beat it outta you..." he'd say, almost in a threatening tone. Myles was never really the type to threaten someone or act tough, but he'd have to play his cards right against this Jedi.

[member="Zephora Bridger"]

Zephora was overly pissed off. In fact, she was furious. It was never a good thing to have pissed off a Jedi either.. she was ready to attack him and she wanted to but something told her to stay back for now. Usually Zeph was pretty cool and had a head about herself, which she still did, but other times like this, she was bitter as hell and didn't really care. Especially when people shot her ships down and think she was some idiot with a dumb name. But whoever this Gonk Tralzin was, he was obviously was someone dangerous.

"I don't think you realize I've had this ship since I was little and it's the same transponder code that I had when I changed it a few years ago. Are you sure you checked to make sure they were the correct codes? Or do you just shoot whoever you want and start calling them names?"

she asked. If he couldn't tell by now, she was furious. Oh how much she truly wanted to attack him. But she stood her ground and kept yelling at him for now. But before he asked his second question, Zephora turned around focusing on the ship through the force and lifted all of it out of it's rut it made and placed it back on firm ground. This ship was totaled. There was no way she was leaving this system now. When she heard his question, he seemed to threaten her with it. Raising an eyebrow, she responded.

"Look, I've got nothing to hide or lose. I have no idea who this so called Gonk Tralzin is. And I swear, if you wanna try and beat it outta me, we'll go hand to hand and I'll have you on your arse, cowering."

she said. Zephora looked him right in the eye. Where the glass pieces originally were, were now bleeding out, but she wasn't caring right now. The thing he didn't realize was that Zeph was tough and this was no act. He had truly pissed off a Togruta Jedi Padawan.

"That a threat, little lady? You give in to your emotions pretty easily for a Jedi..." he'd speak in almost a low, mocking tone. He readied himself for a fight. Myles re-positioned his feet, raising his rifle to his eyes as the landing ramp closed behind him. It looked like he wasn't about to back out of a fight, especially one that he started. Myles was intent on finishing the job, even if it wasn't the right one. At this point, he cared less about money and more about proving himself.

"You can still walk out of here alive, things don't need to get more bloody than they already are." he said, this time in a non-threatening tone. It was more of mockery than threats, as threats weren't really his style. Myles never really liked to seem menacing or brutish, but rather preferred to pick away at the enemy's feelings and toying with their emotions. In a way, it was more devious than simply threatening someone, but it wasn't like he ever used mind-tricks and stuff like that...

"Just a little misunderstanding... Simple mistake." he said quietly and cautiously, more to himself. The glow of twin lightsabers reflected and shimmered in his eyes as he furrowed his brow; Finger itching toward the trigger...

[member="Zephora Bridger"]

"Well, if you want it to be, then yeah I guess so. Not to mention, I didn't attack first. You shot me down and I am now defending myself. From what I can see, you saw the first ship that left in a while, didn't check your scanners and went after the wrong person, shooting me down and injuring me in the process."

She responded. Zephora could be a smartass at times and had no regrets but that was her main attitude when people came across her the wrong way. Zeph dealt with a hard childhood and she wished it upon no one. She knew how to deal with people like this and if he wanted a victory, he picked the wrong person to pick a fight with. Zephora watched as he repositioned himself. She saw how this was going to go. As he prepared himself, she did as well. If he honestly wanted to win, he would fail.

"Dude, this is your fault. Purely your fault. I have been completely honest with you and you have yet to convince yourself into believing me. You have chosen the wrong person to pick a fight."

She said. Zephora had just about had enough of this. If she had to attack, she would. If she had to defend herself, she would. Spinning her lightsabers as he brought his blaster up, Zeph stood in a ready position, holding her sabers in the reverse form and would wait. If this went the way she imagined, she'd have him disabled in no time. Then transitioning into a scary calm voice, she spoke.

"So.. I will say again. I don't know this Gonk Tralzin. But if you want a fight, I'll give you a fight."

she responded. She was ready and on edge. Zephora could tell he was as well.

Myles frowned from behind the sights of his gun. At this point, they were just stalling and wasting time. He thought for a brief moment during the silence, coming close to making the right decision and just walking away. But just then, he remembered that she had Gonk's transponder codes, and there had to have been a reason why. Myles had to find out, especially if this meant getting one step closer to Gonk before any of his bounty hunter competition would. That, and this was no longer a matter of just a swapped transponder code; She had now got on his nerves.

"Whatever kid, you're just wasting my time."

He slyly shifted his hands, pressing a button on his wristlink. Suddenly, the ship behind him spurred to life, the engines whirring as the guns mounted on it turned toward [member="Zephora Bridger"]. In the cockpit, an old Toydarian cackled as he rained fire on the young padawan, each blast creating a small, powerful explosion. Myles followed up with gunfire of his own. Although he didn't expect any shots to pierce her defense, it was a good way to keep duelists occupied while you blindsided them...

While the Jedi had the Force and her lightsabers over him, Myles had his wits about. He was always known to be a cunning thinker, even if he did 'go awol' from time to time. The odds were still stacked against him, but he was still perfectly capable of going toe-to-toe to at least the less experienced of Force-wielders. He'd use the artillery fire provided by the ship and his own suppressing fire to his advantage. Luckily, he had some fancy toys that'd definitely catch any Jedi off-guard, especially such a young one lacking years of experience.

No matter what it was that brought the two there, a fight was going down regardless. Though a victor was not yet clear, both had a strong confidence about them.

Zephora wasn't messing around with this guy. She knew that he thought she was, but Zeph was telling the truth the entire time. If he didn't believe her anytime soon, he was going to be a dead man. But of course, he thought the transponder codes were just swapped. In fact, it was a matter of ignorance in this case and he had literally just gotten on a Jedi's nerves..

"You know that you are wrong.. yet you keep pushing on. Not such a wise pilot are we? I will warn you for the last time. If you do not end this now, I will and only one of us will come out alive. You will be a dead man."

she said. When the man hit a button on his wristband, the ship behind him caught her attention as blasts were fired her way. Zephora stood straight as she was tiny enough to fit between the lasers as they came. Then moving quickly, she blocked a few of the lasers before jumping, dodging, ducking and standing between them. Then deciding she'd had enough of being attacked, she jumped up onto the ship and looked at the Toydarian inside. Getting an idea instead of killing or temporarily knocking him out, she placed her hand on the glass and frost spread from her hand, completely encasing the glass with frost so he couldn't see.

Jumping off of the ship, she landed right in front of the young man. Giving him a stern look, she waited for him to shoot at her.

'You will lose..'

she said to him through the force in his mind. As for the frost on the glass of where the guns were, that would have to manually be scraped off.

Myles was never one to shy away from conflict. Normally, he considered himself to be a smart and reasonable thinker, but just as he had gotten on her nerves, she had also gotten on his. From his point of view, this was either one of Gonk's crony-slaves or just some unlucky target. He considered the fact that she'd been working with him as well, so he was ready for Gonk to come out of nowhere and ambush him.

For a split second, he felt as if someone else were in his body. He brushed it off, not seeming to have been affected by [member="Zephora Bridger"]'s attempts to communicate with him through the Force. In fact, she'd probably have a hard time properly digging through his mind at all due to his uncanny ability to block people out. It was a difficult ability to master, and Myles didn't even know he was capable of such thing. But when he felt an intrusion, his mind automatically set up a blockade. This would probably be noticed by Zeph, and it was rare to find untrained individuals capable of Force abilities.

Myles smirked ever so slightly. She was certainly a crafty individual, yet she posed a sort of predictability. Actually, it turned out to be the exact opposite. She was so unpredictable that Myles could almost predict how she'd probably react to things. After all, it takes one to know one. He knew what she was probably expecting, so he strategized in his head.

She landed in front of him, no more than twenty meters away. The brazen green embers glowed at her sides. It was slightly intimidating, but Myles reminded himself that he knew what he was doing. He had an ace up his sleeve, and it was almost time to pull it into his hand. He reached up to his ear, speaking into his comms.

"Kaz, bring her down."

"Wait, are you su-"

"Do it."

Just then, The Stargazer plummeted downward nose-first. It was not an impact hard enough to completely damage the ship's hull, but enough to push and plow through dirt. It landed just behind Zephora, dragging forward on a collision course toward her. At the same time, Myles opened fire at her, preparing for a quickdraw.

Zehpora was a seasoned veteran when it came to conflict. She had been there many times even though she was only a teenager, she had already seen many things no child should. Whether it was learning that her parents were killed when she was a very young age or meeting and fighting with a Sith that had actual intent and a chance at killing someone. Zephora had known this feeling being pushed towards her many times and she had somehow gotten tangled up in yet another conflict that she was completely innocent of.

When Zeph had attempted to make contact to the man and he somehow blocked it out, she gave a slight look of confusion. Was he force sensitive?? She could almost see it within him and it was strong, but how he hadn't realized it by now, she didn't know. Either way though, Zephora had a creativity about her that many people didn't possess. She was unpredictable and she loved it. It worked for her and Zephora knew it. When she landed in front of him, she knew he felt slightly intimidated, but she sensed that something else was coming.

Bu before she could react, he spouted a few words to his buddy and then the next thing she knew, the nose of the ship came crashing towards her and with widened eyes, she squealed and ran off to her right, avoiding it the best she could as she was being shot at. As she ran, she mainly dodged the blaster bolts for the most part and blocked a few, but one managed to hit her in her left side and she tripped and fell with a squeal. Still not giving up on running, she flipped over and started scooting backwards, away from him as quick as she could. The pain getting to her head, she yelled as loud as she possibly could.

"STOP!!!"

she yelled as she propped herself up on a stump, slightly using the force to help her.

"You have misunderstood me, you have disreguarded me, you have not listened to me and now you have put an innocent life at risk. I am saying for the last time. I have no idea who your person is or even why you are looking for him and trying to take other live in the mean time. But you won't get anywhere if you keep killing innocents! Now I'm telling you, listen to me for once!!"

she yelled at him. Zephora had truly had enough and now she was stating it loud and clear. She never minded a little sparring match, but now he had taken it to far and she was done.

"Now you can capture me and do whatever you want, but I'm warning you, kill me or threaten me one more time and I'll take this to the authorities."

Zephora didn't care if she was captured. She was injured more than she had ever been and there was no way she was going to be able to run anymore.

Myles avoided the intentional crashing of his own ship, grimacing slightly as it hit the ground. Luckily she was a tough one, and the cost for repairs would be minimal. Still, he never liked to see his baby get hurt.

For a moment, it seemed like his tactic of constantly barraging the Jedi with bullets worked, though he knew it wouldn't last long. All Jedi, even padawan, were resilient. And this girl already seemed pretty tough and about her wits, so taking her down was not likely going to be easy. Still, Myles doubted she'd encountered Sith-killer rounds before. But then, she spoke back to him after his ship finally came to a halt. It was almost like she was a bit angered, reasonably so; but Myles always assumed Jedi were taught to suppress their emotions.

She did have a point though. Myles gained nothing from killing her, and by attempting to do so he only put his own life at risk. The only reason he was still fighting was because he assumed that she'd slice off his head as soon as she got the chance. Truth be told, part of him was fighting out of fear, other parts of anger. But now that she was trying to put an end to the meaningless fighting, he felt a little bit safer. He stopped firing at her, lowering his weapon ever so slightly just so she could see his face.

"You're supposed to be the authorities, young padawan. And if I killed you, you wouldn't have anyone to take this to." he said almost sarcastically.

Sighing, he slung his weapon around his back, hoping he could trust this Jedi enough to not sucker-stab him. Then again, that's probably not the Jedi code anyway. Myles may have a distaste for the Jedi, but he still had some honor. Reaching into a pocket on the inside of his coat, he pulled out a small pocket-sized spray bottle of Bacta and tossed it to her.

"Sorry about your ship."

Myles still kept a look of worry in his eyes. While he spoke like he'd completely thrown the fight, he remained guarded. He wiped a bit of sweat from his brow.

[member="Zephora Bridger"]

Zephora had proved her worth for a while. She kept it up pretty well, being already injured, but the blaster bolt put her over the top and kept her from going anywhere for that moment. When the ship had finally stopped sliding and the man actually listened to what the Togruta teen was saying, all of a sudden things changed. Zephora had definitely been right though. She had seen the same thing happen to someone else and neither the attacker or the defender remained. They both killed each other off in a fit of rage and misunderstanding.

Jedi weren't supposed to show emotion, but that never registered in Zeph's mind. She had a mind of her own and even though she was meant to think one way, she had her own way. It didn't matter too much to the master who had previously been training her, but she had gotten better over the ages. When he'd finally stop firing at her, she saw him look over his gun, lowering it ever so slightly just so they could see each other eye to eye. Hearing what he said, she let out a small scoff, this time not in a sassy way, more of a sarcastic way.

"I know.. I'm just a padawan though.."

she paused for a second as he tossed a small bottle of bacta to put on her wounds. Catching it, she set it down in her lap for a second, to put her lightsabers back on her belt and then she'd pick the bottle up to start treating the new wounds that would turn into scars later on.

"Thanks. You don't know the force very well, do you? Even if you did kill me, I'd become a presence of the force. I'd be a ghost, but better."

she finished. Zephora could sense that fear had been evident. Why that was, she hadn't a clue. Jedi never attacked first and one never lied in a situation like she had been in. Hearing him apologize for her ship, she looked at him, frowning the very slightest.

"It's alright.. you're lucky it wasn't a Sith you ran into. You'd be dead right now. But, I guess I'll just have to find some money somewhere to get a new one... Unless I can fix it.. which I just did last week. Those comms are a piece of bantha dung anyway."

she responded slightly under her breath for the last part. Zephora looked at him for a second before going back to spraying the bacta on her cuts and blaster shot wound. After a few seconds, it stung so bad, but she had already felt a lightsaber on her skin and now a blaster bolt in her side, so the stinging was tame in comparison, but the two accompanying each other, made things worse.

After she was finished, she handed the bottle back to the man. He seriously would have been dead right now if Zehora had been a Sith. He'd have no chance. Except for that last attack he made, but his luck would be small. After a few more seconds of silence, she spoke up.

"Well, we came this far, I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Zephora Bridger."

she said, putting her hand out for him to shake.

The meaningless fight had finally come to an end. Myles was, in a way, relieved. But some part of him yearned for bloodlust. What was it? Anger? She had angered him. But, he'd forgiven her! Yet he didn't. It was like his mind was split in two. Surely, he could take her down in some way or another. After all, she was still but an apprentice. A strong apprentice, at that. But Myles knew better- he was smarter to even try.

He was a little bit surprised at her humility. On the exterior, she almost seemed haughty and confident. Yet she knew the extent of her limits, which was almost admirable. Myles often had trouble with that sort of thing. All his life, he'd received praise for his abilities- it was instilled in him to think highly of himself, though deep inside he knew it'd never be enough.

"Thought you had to be a master of the Force to be able to do that."

She mentioned becoming something like a Force apparition, a ghost. Myles had seen one of those before, though not the typical kind. It was darker, malicious. It held a certain evil within it, not much like this young girl at all. The Jedi and Sith had different ways of accomplishing the same thing.

"Well, I guess it's a good thing I don't fight Sith."

Myles had actually done business with Sith before. Particularly on Malachor V, but also elsewhere. It seemed like Sith were everywhere these days, just as Jedi. The galaxy was becoming more and more turbulent every day. Deep inside, Myles wanted to somehow put an end to all this conflict. Some way, some how.

"The name's Myles. Just Myles."

Hesitantly, he reached out to quickly shake hands. He still kept his distance. Nearby, his ship powered back up and began to rumble and shake as it struggled to free itself from the small crater it'd created. The girl mentioned that she needed credits, and for some reason Myles felt awfully generous. It wasn't in his nature to give, especially not to strangers he'd just fought. But maybe he'd gain something out of it too.

Sighing, he spoke up. "...Listen, I've got a contract to hunt some Mandalorian named Gonk Tralzin. He's as dumb as his name sounds. If you're willing to help me track him down, you can use some of the bounty to fix up your ship. He's still on this planet..."

Zephora could sense that his mind was in two different places. His emotions were fairly displayed through the force. Though he physically didn't show it, she knew mixed emotions were just bubbling like a volcano waiting to blow. Her anger may have gotten to her and rightfully so, but she was still a living being and so was the man standing before her. Zephora seemed self confident, yet she had her doubts and alone, these traits would not be evident.

Being a Jedi, Zeph had to know her limits. She had to know if she was overboard or not enough. A certain level of confidence was expected by her. By her master at least. Zephora had been having confidence issues, due to living a mostly secluded life, so she had high expectations and he pushed her daily to keep her confidence. Praise was something Zephora wasn't exactly used to. She received it every once in a while, but it was only for completing something of high importance.

"Nah.. the force works in mysterious ways. I bet a Padawan like me could still become a force presence if I'm connected to it well enough. I'm not going to find out though.. not for a while anyway."

she smirked. She was of course poking at him with the last comment, but she'd be sure that she didn't find out for quite a while. Studies would be a better way to go instead without turning herself into that study. There would be plenty of time to discuss that later though. Looking up at him, she heard him say that he didn't fight Sith.. was he on their side?? Or was he neutral? By this she assumed that he himself was a bounty hunter. Zephora was at least one of those padawans that had a head about herself. She was smart. Hearing his name, she gave the slightest smile as they shook hands. Zephora knew better than to pull anything on him. She knew he was hesitant and she didn't blame him.. she just wished he wasn't so stiff.

The creeking of the ship standing back up, startled Zephora slightly, until she realized what it was.. apparently she had been pretty tightly wound as well. When Myles spoke up, hearing what he had to say, was something to be taken into account. He had offered her to help him catch this Mandalorian dude so she could get a share of the credits to fix her ship. Zephora thought deeply for a few seconds before coming to a decision in her mind.

"I think I'll accept your offer. I won't have anything coming in for a while, so I don't see it being such a bad idea."

she responded.
