- Tradition Name: Sisters of Twilight
- Tradition Type: Force(Magick) Order
- Tradition Focus:
- Channelling and understanding magick
- Herbal and Natural drugs and magick
- Influence: Minor direct influence is localised to a small area, but several of the members have personal influence throughout the galaxy
- Orientation: Dark-leaning, but will accept light leaning sisters. The value of Sisterhood outweighs the Dark/Light Dichotomy
- Influence Area:
- Based on Qina, a moon with short nights bathed a green perpetual twilight from its parent planet. Every once in a while the planet dissappear below the horizon leading to a long very dark night.
- The Coven is located deep withing the jungles of the planet at an ancient darksider ruin from a time before recorded history on the world. The area is near impossible to access except for through a thin and winding chasm in the rockfall, or via teleportation.
- Based on Qina, a moon with short nights bathed a green perpetual twilight from its parent planet. Every once in a while the planet dissappear below the horizon leading to a long very dark night.
- Symbol:
- Triquetra represents the maiden, the mother and the crone.
- Crescent moon symbolising the setting sun and twilight
- Female figure symbolising female power
- Description:
- All female tradition of Force users
- Believe in and wield 'Magick' which is a branch of the force rooted in spells, nature and incantations.
- Oneness with nature very important, many of the gifts of the force are presented through the world's natural bounty.
- Extremely ritualistic, practicing pilgrimage, sacrifice, and meditation. Adherence to tradition is essential.
- The importance of Sororital loyalty cannot be understated, the other witches in the cover are your sisters and you should cherish and protect them.
- Membership:
- If not born into the Coven, Force sensitive females initiated, preferably at a very young age. This is primarily done through voluntary recruitment, approaching the parents of force sensitives, but has been done in times of need by abduction.
- Trained in the ways of the force and Magicks and expected to live and survive as a sister, only the strong survive.
- At the time of the Sister's Menarche, they are given a test by the full sisters that they must succeed or die. The last stage of which is to drink a magick ichor that will cement them as full Sisters, or render them blind and deaf, to be used as living force servants if their will is not strong enough.
- Adult sisters of other clans, and rarely other force traditions may also be initiated, provided they undergo a test of loyalty First.
- Motives:
- The absolute driving force of the Coven is Sisterhood, protecting and teaching their fellow sisters comes before all else.
- The protection of their traditions, dating back to the time of Allya the Night Sisters have guarded their tradition and the Sister's of Twilight are no exception.
- Power, while less of an obsession than for someone like the Sith, like all force users, their is a strong element of increasing one's personal power.
- Rules and Teachings:
- Loyalty and Faithfulness to your Sister must be absolute. Betrayal is dealt with harshly, upto and including ritual execution of the offending Sister. However attunement is possible.
- The location of the Coven should remain secret from outsiders.
- Respect nature and treasure its gifts, they are yours to use, but should not be taken for granted.
- Be proud to be a Nightsister, do not hide who you are unless it endangers yourself or your fellow Sisters.
- Structure:
- No official leader of the group with all members being seen as equal sisters
- Asaaj En Kelsani an unofficial leader as the only surviving founding sister, she is sometimes referred to as the Elder Sister but this is a term of respect rather than authority.
- Typically most Sisters will defer to an older or more experienced Sister, so their is a pecking order of seniority, this is not rigidily followed or enforced.
- Any full Sister can be a circle leader and can lead a Coven meeting, typically if a witch wishes to cast a certain group spell or perform a ritual, they will take the leadership role for that particular gathering
- Climate:
- Very private and keep out of other Planetary business unless disturbed. Mostly remain in self contained temple unless going out to trade or research. Usually friendly to locals.
- Some element of fear of the witches from certain local and religious groups borne out of superstition, but the fear of the danger moving against an otherwise seemingly peaceful group prevents any real action other than a little hostility.
- Try to keep tabs on other force using traditions on planet or in system due to paranois from previous Jedi and Sith atrocities against the night sisters.
- Reputation:
- Nightsisters are are recognisable force tradition for many in the galaxy. The Sister's of Twilight are not a well known Coven at this time, but they are beginning to build a reputation.
- In their local area on Qina as secretive and suspicious, some witches have worked as village herbalists successfully, but there is often an element of mistrust and fear of their power.
- Openness:
- Oneness about who you are and pride in your traditions.
- The teachings of Nightsister magicks is generally avoided, very minor magicks it is frowned upon, but the greater magicks and deeper secrets are strictly forbidden.
- Characteristic Equipment:
- Usually wear robes or other light clothing
- Rarely go anywhere without supplies of herbs and oils to power spells.
- No specific weapons but many use alchemically enchanted blades
- Most will carry some form of pendant or charm to signify their loyalty to the Coven, usually hand made from metals or bone and based on the clan emblem.
- Notable Force Skills:
- Force Powers, primarily dark side powers
- Herbal spells and incantations
- Use of Spirit Ichor to power spells
- Many are familiar with necromancy, teleportation, Alchemy, body manipulation and mental manipulation.
- Notable Force Limitations:
- Traditionally weaker at light side powers
- A lot of spells are dependant on herbal ingredients and spirit Ichor, even powers that might normally be castable by users of other force traditions without.
- Founding Sister -
- (Elder) Sister Asaaj En Kelsani
- Around two dozen full Sisters
- Around half a dozen initiates
- Usually around half a dozen blinded failed initiates
Founded on the Moon of Qina by Asaaj En Kelsani not long after she left Ubelixa, originally she was the only member, loving nearly a hermit lifestyle for several decades, Asaaj found a number of ancient Dathomiri texts and artifacts that she was able to gather and relocate to her temple.
She eventually found more Night Sisters and the Coven was formed, Originally there were 4 members, the other three founding members have long since passed, and their remains are buried nearby in the temple grounds. Asaaj has continued in an unofficial leadership role of the group as other members have come and gone, her vampiric longevity allowing her to remain true to her dathomiri heritage.
The Coven meets sporadically, it is traditional for the Coven to hold a gathering each "long night" on Qina and tell stories, perform rituals and share different secrets. These meetings often involve sacrifices if some sorts and incantations.
Whenever a sister dies, all efforts will be made to retrieve the corpse but whether it is possible or not, all Sisters are expected to try and attend a funeral on Qina to allow the Sister's spirit to be guided into the netherworld, using the power of the gathered witches to protect the departed soul from entities who may wish to corrupt or enslave it.
The Sisters of Twilight are no more accepting of letting outsider in the their secrets than any of the other clans, but typically they are more outward looking, and many have other lives, seperate, but also intertwined with their duties to the Coven.
