    • Energy: High
    • Kinetic: High
    • Lightsabers: Low
    • Sonic: Very Low
    • EM/Ionic: Average
    • Cold protection: Very High
    • Heat protection: Average

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Duranex/thermoweave fabric blend heated inner body glove - worn against the skin to keep the Legionnaires warm in sub-zero arctic climates. The main heating battery is mounted in the backpack, with a small battery in the belt providing a few hours of warming if the backpack is damaged or lost. The unique textile is produced under licence from Liquidity Textiles.
  • TYI flex-armor insulated outer body glove - a protective layer which forms a sealed barrier against the elements.
  • Reinforced duranium and reinforced titanium weaved duraplast armor plating with thermal gel lining - armor plates affixed to the outer body glove to provide protection from blasters and kinetic weapons.
  • Helmet - includes an anti-frosting polarised visor with a number of vision settings (e.g. night-vision, thermal) to aid visibility in poor conditions.
  • Heavy armorweave kama - provides leg protection from wind and shrapnel; legs otherwise lack armor to provide increased mobility in the field.
  • Boots - fitted with retractable spikes for ice climbing. Can be fitted with snowshoes for moving through deep powder.
  • Backpack - includes a battery to power all components, a cold-weather survival kit consisting of a heater and emergency shelter, rations, drinking water, comm equipment, an emergency locator beacon, and additional blaster power packs.

STRENGTHS
  • Keep out the chill - the dual body glove design, incorporating both a heated insulation layer and an outer shell layer, keeps the wearer comfortable in the most frigid of climates, allowing for maximum combat effectiveness in the cold.
  • Anti-infantry - the combination of reinforced armor plates with a thermal gel lining provides the wearer with high levels of protection against convention blasters and projectile weapons such as slug throwers.

WEAKNESSES
  • Fear the blade - due to a lack of any beskar or phrik lightsabers can make quick work of the armor plating and body glove layers, giving Force users an advantage in combat.
  • Lacks leg protection - armor plating on the lower half of the uniform is limited to reduce weight and improve mobility in thick snow, leaving the wearer vulnerable to waist-down attacks.
  • Power-hungry - the heating system is reliant on the backpack battery, or belt emergency battery, and can drain both in a little under a day. Soldiers depend on access to recharging facilities, which may not always be present in hostile environments.
  • Turn down for what - the helmet is designed to enhance sounds and tune out harsh noises to improve communication during snowstorms. However, sonic weaponry has been found to overwhelm these systems, and in some instances amplify their effects, which can see soldiers easily stunned or injured.

DESCRIPTION
The Alpine Armor Mk. I was developed to address the shortcomings encountered when using the standard Legionnaire Combat Armor Mk. III in cold climate environments. Existing measures for operating in extreme climates relied on the built-in environment controls on existing armor, external additions such as heavy greatcoats, and sheer determination. Recognising the importance of keeping Legionnaires in top fighting shape, the Pyramid of Military Command authorised the development of specialised alpine armor.

Development of the armor occurred on the frozen planet of Rhen Var, where Sith-Imperial military scientists experimented to develop an armor system that balanced keeping the wearer warm while still allowing for swift movement and lethality in the battlefield. The scientists eventually landed on a dual-layer body glove system, with reinforced armor plates affixed to the outer shell layer to offer protection against blasters and projectile weapons.

The armor has been shipped to Legion forces stationed on all cold-weather worlds within the Sith Empire, with additional sets of armor held at central Sector Group depots should units find themselves suddenly deployed to an alpine world.

The armor is considered an interim measure designed to meet an immediate need, with development already underway for an improved Mk. II variant which will offer increased survivability.
