Sky-Strike Miniature Jump Pack
Intent: A new type of Jetpack to allow for greater mobility on the battlefield
Development Thread: As Needed
Manufacturer: ArmaTech Combat Systems
Model: Mk1
Affiliation: ArmaTech Combat Systems
Modularity: No
Production: Mass
Material: Jet-Pack and Repulsor-Pack Components
Weight: 5 Kilograms
Maximum Speed: 100 Km/h
Description:
ArmaTech noticed a trend in personal equipment; soldiers on the battlefield were carrying more and more pieces of equipment and weapons on the battlefield so the necessity of reducing the weight became readily evident. Battlefield mobility was important, often lost on the armies of the Galaxy, and individual soldiers often had to take the shoe-lace express on the battlefield. Such reduced tactical capabilities and options for soldiers in combat needed to be corrected. Small and able to be integrated into the back plates of armor or worn on a belt the system can be fitted to most armors or attached to most harnesses or belts.
Designing a jump-pack with greatly reduced capabilities wasn’t impossible; the difficulty came from the fuel efficiency and containment. Miniaturized to five kilograms, the jump pack allows users to quickly traverse battlefields and rapidly access multiple story buildings. While not capable of true flight the jump pack is capable of propelling a fully equipped soldier fifty meters horizontally or thirty five meters vertically with a single three second burst, the jump pack is less capable than its much large cousins. It is also slower, only travelling around one hundred kilometers per hour. Where it does excel is with its efficiency. Using repulsorlift coils to assist in directional and operational flight, it is able to make greater use of its limited fuel allowing it to be used significantly longer. It is capable of firing two-hundred-forty three second bursts, allowing for approximately twelve minutes of use. It makes use of directional thrusters and gyro-stabilizers to apply counter-thrust for maneuvering and landing, softening falls and landings.
These thrusters can also be used to assist with natural feats of alacrity and agility, such as aiding in jumping longer or higher distances, running on walls, flips, spins, and mid-air rolls with minor directional bursts and repulsorlift shifts that don't drain the fuel capacity noticeably, if at all depending on the feat they are used for. It can also be used to decelerate from potentially fatal falls to safe speeds allowing users to survive falls without serious injury. Proper training and practice is necessary to master this aspect of the system, but when done properly it can greatly assist the abilities of the user.
