Raised on the streets of Nar Shadaa by a gang of thieves, Skylar "Goldenrod" Ichor learned from a young age how to be a thief and a pickpocket, and how to survive each harsh day of trying to steal enough coins to keep food on the table. When she was old enough to live on her own, at the age of 14, she was kicked out of the gang, taking her few belongings, a sleeping bag, a small vibroknife from the woman who raised her, and a small green amulet she had been found with, and moved to a different area, taking shelter in an living in an abandoned apartment building,.
Skylar faced each harsh day on the street alone, until her first mistake in three years. She was caught. She had pickpocketed a young woman, who turned out to be an agent of the Omega Protectorate. Instead of taking Skylar to the police, Jenna Templar, the agent, offered her a job as an agent of the Protectorate. Letting the offer hang in the air, Skylar ignored it until a week later, when she started making rookie mistakes, getting almost caught every other day. She took a break for a while and spent some time recuperating and gaining her confidence back.
Following the Netherworld event, a demolition crew came and destroyed a building Skylar was in and found her, still alive by some miracle, in the wreckage. She woke up in a medical building a day and a half later, scaring the crap out of a few nurses and knowing she would be in trouble if they found out what she was. So Sky fled from the building at night, with all of her belongings and credits, and took the first starship leaving, winding up on Naboo. Sky jumped from faction to faction before falling back into a life of thievery and small time smuggling.
Remembering her first love, a young, reckless man named Jan VonFowl, she went to find him, hoping he would remember her. Finding Jan drowning himself in misery and guilt after the destruction of his homeworld, Corellia, Sky did everything in her power to cheer him up and pull him back to the present.
