Wild Space was a place she never thought she’d risk going to, but here she was, taking a job in one of its planets. Honestly, she really needed a partner to tell her when to stop and take stock of the situation, because she was absolutely certain she’d get herself killed one day. She loved exploration far too much, and she just had to do it… but at the same time, she was a bit disgruntled over being so impulsive.

Regardless, she was here now.

Planet Illyria was what this place was called, a pretty old-fashioned place. It even had a king, and stuff. This new king seemed to be doing a lot of change recently, though, something she always appreciated. Absolute power in the hands of a single person or a few people always led to issues, no matter what. She likened it to the crime lords on Tatooine. They had a strangle hold over their individual domains, but something always happened that removed them from power and created chaos. No power is absolute.

But she wasn’t here to muse on philosophy. No, she was here for a job. Someone had contacted her, hiring her for to take out a troublemaker. The target was apparently disrupting business, causing issues and generally being a nuisance. A force user named Xobos, someone powerful and dangerous that simply *had* to be taken out for the good of all!

That was what Maani was told, at least.

This was instantly fishy. The contractor seemed to emphasise taking her out as opposed to imprisoning her, was a tad vague about what sort of business he did, and seemed a bit… odd about her stipulation that she would turn on him should anything funny be happening. Still, the man hired her. Usually, shady people never even bothered approaching her, let alone go through with hiring her, so she’d trust him.

Trust but verify.

It didn’t take too long to find her target. Though she didn’t get much at first, it took only some touching and sweet whispers into men’s ears for them to reveal her location. But… they didn’t see her as a criminal. Inferring from conversation, this Xobos character didn’t seem to do much of anything that’d harm the common citizen.

Yet more info against her contractor. How nice.

A mere hour later, Maani was in full battle attire ready for a fight… but she’d talk to her first. After ensuring Xobos has no chance of harming her, of course. But… how would she do that? This lady was a force user! Knocking her out seemed the best way to go, but then she’d get nothing out of her. Maani was at an impasse.

But before any of that, she needed to get to Xobos without being detected. The sounds of animals filled the air, but it was nothing substantial. The trail to the pond she was supposedly at wasn’t well-travelled, which meant extra coverage, but also more noise. She had to be careful, moving slowly. Step after step was calculated to make as little noise as possible, using the foliage as cover.

She saw the pond, a beautiful, peaceful place. A little corner of nature a person would use to get away from everyone. Maani never really enjoyed such things, having lived in Tatooine, but she couldn’t appreciate it now. She had to check on Xobos, if she’d been detected or not. Looking over to her target, she’d see…

It had been another long day of training with Sergeant Zax. Not that every day with him wasn’t long, but the last few weeks had been particularly brutal on the sith apprentice. Today had been no different, though maybe a bit more fun than most days. It was an agility-based training day, something that was a staple in the training routine that they went through. Having to dodge and deflect blaster bolts while moving through an obstacle course absolutely filled to the brim with electrical, physical, and gas-based traps wouldn’t be at the top of many people’s fun lists. However, it was better than what she had going on most days.

Still, the training had left her bruised and battered, and she really wasn’t even done for the entire day. With half the day still to go, she was told to take some time off, find a way to relax, and return to the castle within a few hours. This had the led the apprentice to head to her favorite spot near the castle to meditate, a secluded pond that very few seemingly found their way to. It was far enough out of the way that she knew she wouldn’t be disturbed, but also be able to make it back quickly if she was called in.

So sat among the lightly overgrown grass, helmet laying beside her crisscrossed position, the apprentice had begun to meditate for a few minutes now. Xobos had taken the opportunity to return to the void, a space in her mind where she could freely talk to the voices and their combined form. It was certainly an easier place to talk to them as opposed to when she was outside the void, where the conversations felt very one sided at times.

But here, in the darkness of the void, she could speak freely to Ambrus and Ora, as she was doing now. The colored orbs floated in front of her, having come to the tail end of the recap of the training they had just been through. “Perhaps we should request to do more small space training tonight. We could use it, little master.” The softer of the two voices spoke, Ora, from the greenish blue orb. She was right, as the last time they had tried that training she had come out much worse for ware. A hearty laugh from the other orb was quick to cut off any response Xobos may have made, however. “You act like that man will allow us to pick the kind of training we receive tonight.”

Ambrus was, also right in all respect. The training regime seemed much dependent on what her master wished, and there was very little wiggle room for the apprentice to choose. She was definitely becoming more rounded as a fighter, though the ability to chose some new skills to learn would be nice. Again, she began to respond before a feeling swept through her body. A danger, nearby. Though she could neither discern it’s true location or what it could be. The red orb was quick to speak once again, it’s deep and gravelly voice filling her mind. “Whatever that is, it’s trying to be stealthy.” Xobos was finally able to get a word in with the voices at this point, speaking the words in her mind and not out loud. “Perhaps we should allow it to get a little closer then.”

“Probably our best course of action, little master.” Ora agreed, with Ambrus staying silent in response. If he had disagreed he probably would have said something. So with that, the apprentice stayed in her sat position, continuing to breath deeply in and out. Whatever this thing was, it was presenting a danger, though there was no reason to be quick to the defense at this point. More so, to see what exactly this thing might be.
