OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a companion species
  • Image Credit: Drawn by myself in photoshop.
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Sludgespawn
  • Designation: Non-sentient
  • Origins: Created long ago by microscopic lifeforms on the planet of Coruscant being exposed to radioactive waste.
  • Average Lifespan: 200-230 Galactic Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: A blob like form of fauna evolved from mutated bacteria. They come in a variety of colors (generally green, blue, and yellow), with a semi translucent, slug-like body. They've evolved a pair of eyes which see in infrared light. It has a mouth, but it seems to have been an evolutionary tactic to appeal to the sentient inhabitants of Coruscant for survival. A lone feeler is at the top of it's head, shining with a bioluminescent light that changes color, presumably the means in which sludgespawn communicate with others of their species.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, Type 4
  • Average Height of Adults: 0.2 meters
  • Average Length of Adults: 0.1 meters
  • Skin color: Green, Blue, Yellow
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: Small and sluglike, with semi-translucent, colorful bodies. Sludgespawn reproduce asexually, having a single non-defined gender. They age slowly, but the older ones can be determined by dimmer bioluminescence and a faded color pallet.
  • Races: Yellow, Green, and Blue sludgespawn. Aside from color, there is no other physical variation. Sludgespawn colonies are very unlikely to be split into different colors.
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
Strengths:
  • Highly resilient, capable of surviving in most atmospheres.
  • Natural regeneration. Due to having gelatinous bodies, most lethal blows (slashing or blaster bolt) do minimal to no damage, and wounds quickly regenerate.
  • Hardy. Capable of subsisting almost entirely off of anything they can drag into their bodies and dissolve, though they have grown to dislike meat.
  • Fast reproduction. Sludgespawn propagate via asexual cell division, increasing the rate in which they reproduce.
  • Toxic to other organic species, which makes them completely incapable of being consumed safely.
  • A suction cup like surface on the bottom of sludgespawn allows them to stick to any surface, requiring a great force to remove them.
Weaknesses:
  • Extreme heat causes sludgespawn to boil, which may be fatal.
  • No limbs, making them incapable of operating anything whatsoever.
  • Generally unintelligent. Aside from the recognition of friends, there is very little that sludgespawn are capable of.
  • Slow.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivore, capable of consuming most things they come across. They tend to prefer trash, pulling it into their bodies to break it down for nutrients.
  • Communication: Bioluminescence antennae, which change color to denote simple information to other sludgespawn.
  • Technology level: None. Sludgespawn are not intelligent enough to engineer or operate technology.
  • Religion/Beliefs: None.
  • General behavior: Social creatures who move in packs referred to as Colonies through the abandoned levels and sewage systems of Coruscant, looking for any garbage or stray plant matter to consume for energy. They're slow, non-aggressive, and spend much of their time clinging to surfaces and sleeping. They are highly friendly, gathering in places where they expect travelers to donate their unwanted meals or waste. One can attack them, but they have a high pain tolerance and incredible regenerative abilities, so it is unlikely they will react. Sludgespawn have no general fears, as their toxic bodies prevent them from being consumed in most instances. Sludgespawn have sporadic internal clocks, seeming to sleep and return to activity whenever is most convenient for looking for food.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The sludgespawn is a slug-like, gelatinous species that evolved in the abandoned levels of Coruscant, evolving from a strain of bacteria that mutated in the radioactive air over two-thousand years ago, though the exact date that they came about is highly debated. Slowly, sludgespawn began to spread through the sewage systems of the planet, making their way into the lower levels. Their sudden arrival was seen as parasitic, with many believing them to be experiments related to Sithspawn, though this was soon discovered to be far from the truth. The name sludgespawn stuck, however, as many considered them to be a nuisance. Their friendly nature and cute appearance, however, soon made them highly beloved by tourists and many locals alike. Their high endurance and capability of eating just about anything made them perfect low-maintenance pets, especially for children, prompting a surge in sludgespawn domestication. Despite the wave of domestication, a movement was started to prevent their spread to the upper levels of the planet, with systems being put in place to relegate their population to the underworld. To prevent ecological disaster on other worlds, regular checks are preformed on vessels leaving the planet to ensure that no sludgespawn begin to propagate beyond Coruscant.
