"But buir! I'm old enough to stay by myself. You let me train, you let me fight, you've taken me on hunting jobs, well that one job, but I'm big enough to stay by myself!" The kid crossed his arms over his long sleeve blue shirt and sat back with a scowl. He was almost nine. It wasn't fair. His sister got to go with mom off world, or at least would have if Hawk hadn't kicked up a fuss, and now they had to get baby sat by someone else. Why not Uncle Kal, why not Uncle Theo, why not let him stay by himself!
He huffed and looked at his father who was behind the wheel of the landspeeder. Hawk knew better then to push his luck too much. Buir was cool but he was also stern and hard at times. He had to be as alor of the clan, but maybe a few more moments of begging would do the trick.
"I can come with you buir. I can be a help. You said I could start going on all the missions and hunts you went on so why can't I come now?" He saw the narrowing of his father's eyes and the light tightening of the pursued lips and knew he should stop. He had been annoying his buir for almost an hour and finally gave up leaning back in his seat and huffing again.
He muttered as he looked away and at the landscape whipping by, "It's not fair."
