Smoke In The Shade.

The forest moon of Endor....one of the first places the smoke demon figured to look. Malum slowly drifted with the shadow's of the trees. He then stopped before morphing himself into a wolf. If someone were to look at him they'd see that the thought to be wolf was not a wolf at all, but smoke with glowing sights where his eyes would be. Slowly walking, he would here the murmur of the moon's Ewoks. Giving a slight grin he continued on. Slowly but surely he made his way around. Usually he would appear in the form of his enemies worst fear, but he found it was no fun scaring a enemy right off the back. He came across a boulder, he walked straight into it and he vanished, the only traces of him was left over smoke that rolled over the boulder. When the smoke reached the other side, it formed back into a wolf.

If you were to look at the wolf you would see a grin.

He continued to walk as he heard the animals making noises. He reached a small clearing and sat in the shadows.

'Sadly people cannot hear me....' he thought.

(Malum speaks psychically)

Reth, ever the hunter; especially with the grand hunt on, was tracking a wild predator, he wasn't sure what sort of predator but...it was good sized.

He stepped through brush, tangles, and foliage, DL44 drawn and in hand. He sorta missed his friends, but they wouldn't be back to pick him up for a little while, giving him time to bag his trophy.
He really wanted to catch qhatever it was alive, maybe he could wrestle it to the ground and tie it up with all these blasted vines.

Reth was deep in thought when he stepoed into the clearing, looking around he could see nothing but his senses were telling him that something was off...did the animals sound different?

Soon after settling himself, out in the clearing was a male. The Smoke Demon flowed past the trees out into the clearing, he then formed into a wlf again. Only a keen hunter who's eyes were acute would be able to notice that there was no footprints while the wolf walked. Looking even closer they would notice that instead of fur and flesh his body was completely made of smoke.

The smoke flowing off of him simply vanished.

He continued to stare at the creature. He then decided it was time.

"mmmm nice to see a new face....aand not one of those Ewoks." He said in the man's mind.

It was strange...kkinkilling people the traditional way of his kind was boring...He'd rather find out their weaknesses first...but who said he would even kill the male it would be better to scare him. Although a nice chat would be great.

[Aw, thanks Spooky Smoke Wolf]

Duncan placed his hand on Reth's shoulder as they both moved through the forest at a slow pace. They had only been on the planet for two hours and he already hated the place. It was full of blood sucking insects, no beautiful girls, and worst of all no booze. In his other hand, he kept his hand on his pistol with his finger near the trigger. He'd whisper out loud to no one in particular, "What the frak are we even looking for here...?"

Reth would look around worriedly as a voice sounded in his mind. It was at the least startling.
He thought he could see some wolfish figure in the distance but it was quite hard to tell.

"Who goesss there!" He shouted defensively looking around for a person of some sort.

He turned to Duncan shushing him with a finger.

The wolf took steps closer, he noticed another man appear, he could only laugh to himself. Stepping closer and into the sunlight, his form slowly faded from dark black to light grey.

The wolf took steps until he was about ten feet away from the two males.

He closed his red eyes then opened them.

"Calm down you oaf...." the words would echo in [member="Reth Val Serpine"] mind, tilting his head towards the other man, he made sure they both recived his next sentance.

"Hmmm it depends what you two are doing on my land...tthere are mostly Ewoks here, but the occasional Shi'ido, or werewolf come by...bbut I liclive here."

[member="Duncan McShale"]

"Either I've been drinking too much or that's a talking shadow." Duncan said worryingly as he moved his hand off of Reth's shoulder and rubbed his beard. The forest was a strange place, full of strange things. Nothing in the city could prepare him for magical talking wolf shadows.

He then took a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself in an attempt to converse with the anomaly. He would eventually say, "S-so... how long have you lived here?"

Reth would glance between Duncan and the shadow...they were talking to eachother? Was Duncan hearing it too? The voice that spoke in his head.
He gradually put away his weapon, there was no way he was going to be fighting something that powerful, after all...shooting a shadow is pretty pointless.

"And, who are you?" He added to the end of Duncan's question.

The wolf sat down and and listened to what the one with the beard said. He never understood the need to get drunk or to eat because being smoke it didn't even matter, well absorbing the souls of unsuspecting travelers was kinda like consuming, but these travelers seemed to know what their doing.

A chuckle would be heard in the two male's minds as he heard the question.

"Lived here on this moon?.....years....decades....I've lost track.....but how many years have Iived in general....iI have lost count...." his sentance would sound a bit echoed and distorted in the two male's minds.

Then he had heard the other the green one aske a follow up question.

"Who am I....I am Malum Umbra...Evil Shadow in a forgotten language...but names are just living emotions...."

Reth continued to watch the shadow, it was strange to look at...definitely unnatural, probably some sort of concoction created by the Jedi or the Sith to fight eachother. Though it could simply be an as of now undiscovered species of creature.

"I am Reth Val Ssserpine, I greet you."

Unlike Reth, Duncan didn't just give his name out to every person, animal, or ghost animal that they met in the woods on an alien planet. It was strange to him to think he could be so friendly to something that looked like it would rip our faces off in a heartbeat. To make matters worse, the strange being gave off a red wispy mist that gave him chills to the bone, and that fact made him grip his pistol in his hand.

"I'm just a human, nobody special." He said, the ringing in his ears growing louder.

The smoke wolf stood once again and began slowly pace himself around the two males. He pondered on the name he was given 'Reth Van Serpine' it seemed so familiar yet not....perhaps he had seen him before.....but no he shook it off.

As he continued to walk the two males would notice that the smoke form that was once a wolf shaped into the form of a humanoid. This humanoid had no mouth just two red eyes. The newly formed smoke cloud took the form of a 6 foot tall human.

The smoke-man chucked in the two males mind's.

"You just a human....nothing special, sure but what do you're fleshy friends call you by?"

The smoke-man chuckled as he stopped in front of them.

"I am still deciding if you are an imitate threat to me....but then again what would a blaster do to a smoke cloud with no solid form?" the smoke cloud echoed in their minds.

Reth continued to watch the strange curling smoke of the creature. It was interesting, a brief thought came to his mind about how this would almost definitely win them the Great Hunt...and that the creature could probably escape when it was all over as well, you couldn't kill smoke.

"We are no threat to you. But...you're figure makes me consider a businessss idea. Do you have no way of leaving thisss planet?"

"I'm not a scientist so I couldn't answer that question." Duncan said as he slowly began to lower his blaster. The spooky shadow was right, it probably wouldn't do him much good here. As the shadow morphed into a humanoid form, it made him take a step back as the the black mist began to envelop the area.

He didn't like this, not one bit.

The shadowman peered into Reth's eyes. "Makes you consider a business?...oh Mr. Serpine please explain." The shadow said as it looked to the man who had not given his name.

"Of course I have a way off this planet....iI just simply walk onto someone's ship...." He answered. The smoke-man took a step closer as the other man stepped back. "One does not have to be a scientist to make educated guesses does he?" The smoke figure asked.

He felt a tension being given off by the man who was not as trustful as Reth.

"Don't be afraid..." He said in a dark tone which would echo through both their minds.

Reth nodded once as the creature spoke of it's way off planet, in fact that worked quite well for them. Another thought of the Hunt crossed his mind and he shrugged it once more...maybe if the creature agreed to be their ally it might work.

"Well, we offer a way off planet, asss well asss another businessss proposition we can discussss later."

Reth lightly elbowed Duncan, in a motion which told him to be polite.
