- Try and Damage This!: It has a lot of shielding, a lot of armaments, a lot of defenses for a gunship. It is rather difficult to destroy through conventical means as blaster fire has difficult destroying it without overwhelming firepower.
- All Around Flak Screen Protection: It has a lot of firepower solely dedicated to creating flak screens for other capital ships, making them mobile turrets with almost each side covered around the gunship. This also makes them a bit deadly against starfighters heading towards their general direction.
- Interlinked Neural Network: Each Pilot and Gunner has a Neurocrown that links to all their actions and information flow, making it fluent to find and direct towards enemy targets.
- Jump Towards New Defensive Position!: It has the ability to link jump with other gunships of its type, along with coordinating jumps with a fleet, to microjump around the system. This allows it to quickly get to various areas around the battlefield to help support other capital starships when they need flak screen protection.
- Emergency Break, Never Use!: Emergency Braking without slowing down using the SLAM MK. II, will tear the starfighter apart. It is recommended to slow down first!
- Anti-Capital Problem: It is not made to go up against Capital Starships, making it rather dedicated towards shooting down missiles and other starfighters.
- Multi-Seated Madness: It requires more than a singular pilot, making them one of the few rare gunships that requires at least six people to operate. If one of them goes out, they can go through the Overseer-Pattern Neurocrown but their minds take a toll.
- Top Strike!: The only undefended area is the top, making it to where if a hole was to be in the screen, it would have starfighters attacking from the top down.
Named after the ever observant Snarlfish, the Snarlfish Gunboat was a request from the Karkarodon Empire to create a flak screen gunship that would protect other capital ships when missiles or other long rang projectiles were fired at their comrades. Maverick Steele contacted Angelus Hafey to discuss the creation of such a vessel with some funding involved to create a gunboat for that particular purpose, effective like a corvette but with at least five. Since the choice was between four and eight, he decided eight would be the best number and began to work on the gunboat design in general.
Adding in four flak guns for a turret below, he slid in several neuro helmets and began the work to create turret emplacements around the Snarlfish, one being noted to have newer Mellifluous Magenta equipment involved that requires the scatterguns installed on the front for different yet deadly effect, along with a rear facing turret for those that attempt to intercept and only get shot at during intercept. Not including various countermeasures, shield linkage, Ultrachrome Hull and even a Microjump Capacitor, it was made to furfill that role several times over while being extremely difficult to destroy.
With the first prototype rolling off production, it was only now up to Steele himself to see if he wishes to proceed with full production.
