So a newbie was born

So after many painstaking hours....43 to be exact.....a future writer was born at 8lbs.

I would like to welcome into this SW galaxy my first child....Autumn Fey Murphy. I hope to be an excellent Mother who can say one day to her new daughter when she is pregnant, "Aye.....it's going to hurt!"

Love you little Monster......

....pics forthcoming.

Welcome to the club.
  • Brace yourself for meconium poops. They don't last long, but they're a real joy.
  • Don't dive into mommy blogs. They'll make you feel like a terrible person and then strip the flesh from your carcass.
  • Pay real close attention to the car seat strap instructions.
  • Don't let anyone shame you for breastfeeding if that's what you pick. This is 2016 and people need to stop clutching pearls already.
  • If your kid is fussy, trade off/alternate bad nights with your partner as much as possible, feeding schedule permitting. You're probably gonna get very little sleep for the next year or so. If you can, arrange things so everyone involved gets at least SOME sleep SOMEtimes.
Also, congratulations :D

Congratulations! Also, props to the name. I'm an Autumn IRL and I've only met about 3 others who share my name.

Congratulations!

Addendum to the excellent above list - don't let people shame you for not breastfeeding either. Do what works best for you and your baby!

You are a champ and a wonder and you deserve to be treated like it!

Thanks everyone

The reason it took so long for the birth is when I was a teen I had a real bad scoliosis problem and had to have surgery in which they put these suckers into my back. So it was assumed that I wouldn't be able to have a natural birth but a C-section. However, my doctor wanted to avoid a C-section procedure because that would hamper my movement so she tried and tried to see if I could have the baby naturally. Unfortunately, it was C-Section anyway.

Now if the hubby and I decide to have another baby, it will be C-Section again and no long labour sessions.

Congrats!

Everything Jon said is true. I'll also add that you WILL have frustrating times. Recognize those times and hand off the baby to the hubby or someone else you trust. Grab a break or a breather.

Best of luck! :)
