Your Thing looks most interesting. The different contrasts are quite staggering.
Attempt number 2
This time with blue hair rather than red hair.
For what ever reason, the finished edit still doesn't look right to me.
Here's another one, took a bit more time on it. What I don't like though is that you can clearly see the tool marks in a couple of places. >->

Personally, I think the eyes are the problem with the first one; they don't seem to fit well with the bright, contrasting colors, and I didn't notice them nearly as much in the second image. Don't take my word for it though, I know nothing about art.
