So we are building a nice little...Empire

So with our dominions creating a nice chunk of land for us there is a question that has lingered around that I would love an opinion on from the general membership.

Should we go Empire?

We were already technically an Empire right? I think straight up calling ourselves "The" Empire or "any " Empire is a pretty drastic rebranding. Everyone knows who the First Order is and what it is for which we stand.

There have also been (and are) several other Empire variations on this board. But we are the only "First Order." It's nice to be fresh and different.

Each faction must differentiate itself from other factions - and that goes beyond the use we make of dark-siders. But you have to say, the use we make of dark-siders was our starting point to distinguish ourselves from the Sith factions.

I would to maintain our identity without actual being an empire. There are so many of those on the board. So long as 'empire' isn't in the name, I'm cool with rebranding.

We are an Empire, whether we label ourselves that or not -- and frankly, I'm more interested in us behaving like one than calling ourselves one. I have had Natasi referencing the "Supreme Leader's empire/Empire" often enough -- we don't need to have it as part of our name to make it true. I believe the more we comport ourselves as an Empire, the less the name will add. I think we should focus on expansion and building out our ranks, driving activity and putting on a good show.

Won't vote because not formally part of the faction, but do feel it's worth noting that several years ago the small but stable Atrisian Empire voted to rebrand as the Galactic Empire. It certainly wasn't the only reason, but it was definitely a single point where you could point to a steady decline and eventually collapse of the faction.

There's a would-be 'Empire' every other month, there's only one First Order (so far on this board, at any rate).

If we want to call ourselves 'Galactic Empire' or something similar one day, that would be swell. But I'd suggest not doing that till the empire has actually earned it. Atrisia looked silly when it renamed itself Galactic Empire while only controlling a couple planets, and then being absorbed by Fringe. Same applies to the short-lived 'Galactic Imperium' (not related to the Imperium minor faction).
