Private So Who Talks First?

( Alex Locke Alex Locke )

Once the Jedi Order had been headquartered on Coruscant, back in the old days...

These days, they have their own mobile headquarters. Master Gedari had always thought that it was better than the old Jedi Temple on Coruscant, that it meant that the Jedi Order could stay apart from the politics which had blinded it to the truth of the Living Force during the Clone Wars...

For Caldon, it just made shopping for parts more problematic.

As they began to approach the point for dropping out of hyperspace, R7-C4 set about the task of awakening his master from the hibernation trance with a series of beeps and whistles. Inside the X-wing’s cockpit, Caldon was awoken from his hibernation trance by the predesignated binary code word, and began to reach up to rub his eyes when his gloved fingers hit the golden visor on his pilot helmet.

“Alright alright R7, I’m awake...” he mumbled into the comm as the fog began to clear from his mind. Just then, the alert came that they were coming up on their destination. Caldon shook himself to clear the final cobwebs from his mind, then began hyperspace drop sequence. When he finished, the swirling vortex before him turned into starlines then stars as the planet of Coruscant came into view. Any thoughts that Caldon might have had about reaching their destination were interrupted by the crackle of the comm in his helmet.

<<“Unidentified X-wing, this is Coruscant Control, state identification and business.”>>

<<“This is Saber Three, requesting landing clearance on Coruscant.”>>

There was a short pause before the reply.

<<“Saber Three, proceed route Aurek 525 to hangar 82, maintain traffic speed. Cleared to land.”>>

<<“Acknowledged control.”>>

Caldon banked the X-wing towards the indicated flight route, pulling back on the throttle as he merged into the traffic pattern and began his descent to the planet’s surface.

Later...

Caldon smoothly brought the X-wing down into the opened hanger, following the guidance of the Marshall as she guided him towards the waiting ramp spot in the hanger. He hovered the X-wing into place, then dropped the landing gear and set the craft down smoothly on its landing peds. Satisfied, he shut down the engines and popped the canopy as the ground crew came over with the ladder.

Behind him, as Caldon began to undo the safety restraints and pulled off his flight helmet, R7 popped out of his astromech socket and floated down to the floor via his thrust jets. Caldon then began to climb down the ladder, nodding to the ground crew as they began hooking up fuel lines and other equipment over to the X-wing.

Caldon went over to the storage compartment located at the bottom of the fuselage and popped it open, pulling out a small flight bag which he hoisted over his shoulder and began to walk out the hangar, flight helmet tucked under his arm with R7 rolling behind him.

The hangar was part of the best time of the young Locke’s day. Here she was able to keep quiet and listen to the hum of the machine of her fighter. Besides Qell Auraeli Qell Auraeli , the A-wing was someone that understood her better than anything. Carefully she pulled the part that was rattling her last test flight and looked at it. Just as she suspected the piece had been damaged in their previous training operation.

“Not good, but I think there’s a spare here.” She spoke quietly to the fighter. Of course, the pilot knew that the fighter wasn’t going to answer, but she could feel the vibrations in the ship’s electromagnetic field. The A-Wing was happy, and that made her smile. It was an odd sensation, feeling the fighter like this. She wondered if there were others like that; maybe Qell felt the same way?

Thinking about the other K’paur made her cheeks flush slightly; she nearly dropped the part as she stepped down. She needed to not think about the girl; she tended to find herself light-headed. Shaking her head, she assumed it was just the gasoline from the fighter...yeah, that had to be it.

Climbing down from the ladder, Alex set the part on her workbench, maybe could reshape it. Though after a few minutes of examining the part, she sighed softly. “No fixing this. I knew I should have paid a bit more attention and not have flown so low.” The Corellian was trying to do one of the trick maneuvers she had seen Frea Sheplin Frea Sheplin and Taysonyl Callenid Taysonyl Callenid perform; she’d have to practice a bit more before pulling it off. Sighing, she moved away from the workbench and walked across the hanger towards the storage department.

As she wandered towards the storage department, she caught a quick glance of the Jedi boy she had run into at the party. Blinking quickly, she made a small noise under her breath and nearly sprinted towards the room. At least she could hide here instead of trying to fathom a way to talk to him. She was already awkward enough, but to try and talk again would have been just a disaster.

Fingers played with the cardboard boxes that held the parts in storage; she murmured to herself about why she didn’t invite Qell with her; at least the taller girl could have been someone to hide behind. A loud thud echoed in the storage room as the part she was fumbling with fell to the floor and rolled towards the door.

That was strange. Someone quite strong with the Force, and...someone he had met before?

Caldon’s gaze swept the hanger bay as he came to a stop, searching through both the Force and his visual senses. He thought he saw someone that looked familiar...but her as a Force user? He had not sensed this back at that party, of course he had in a sense shut himself off from the Force due to all the interference...

No, he must be distracted. That’s all it was, being back on Coruscant. Either way, a Force user here was not much of his business with this being the capital. Finding candidates for the Jedi Order was someone else's concern, not his.

At R7’s whistled inquiry, Caldon turned and looked down at the white and green astromech droid and shook his head. “I’m fine Areseven, just got distracted for a second.”

As the two of them continued to walk towards the visiting ready rooms, passing by the storage room where he sensed the presence from earlier had gone into when there was a loud thud and what looked like an engine part rolled across the floor and bounced against the wall across from the door. Caldon stared down at it for a second before setting his flight helmet down on R7s’ green dome and extending his free hand towards the part and pulling it into his waiting grasp.

Hm...obviously an A-wing part, though he wasn’t familiar enough with the current A-wing’s systems to take an accurate guess as to what it is.He turned to look back into the supply room, calling out to whoever must have dropped the part.

“I think you dropped this.”
