Katar was in a particularly sensitive situation. Felucian Rancors had a savage streak much larger than Dire Cats or Kath Hounds. Eye contact alone wouldn't completely tame it. She'd have to get close enough to touch it to seal the bond. Slowly, she made her way closer to the massive creature, her hand outstretched and reaching for its left claw. Here bright green cat eyes stayed locked on its two larger ones. She had to be very careful....

Mit had no idea what he was about to walk into, he was simply exploring the planet... Vibroblade in hand he hacked away at the last few vines that blocked his path to the clearing, and with a shout of surprise, his eyes landed on a giant rancore. "Whoa wha?" he shouted, scared out of his wits, normally this would have been fine but... He was so near to it and it looked quite startled, and he had no weapons besides the vibroblade, no blaster, no stun baton, nothing.

He started to back up when he tripped over a stump of a root that had been left when he made his path to the clearing, his leg was stuck.

The rancor let out a surprised roar as a shout echoed through the small clearing. Katar's head whipped around to see a boy about the same age as her now lying on the ground. His foot appeared to be caught between a couple of freshly made stumps. Made by his own vibroblade, no doubt. Her gaze turned back to see the rancor's clawed hand strike her body. She was thrown backward, landing flat on her back next to the boy. She didn't stay down for long. Jumping back onto her feet, she grabbed the boy's vibroblade, taking a defensive stance. Her pupils turned to slits as she barred her teeth and growled threateningly. There was no way she'd be able to take the massive creature down by herself. If only Romeo was here. He'd be able to help her. Unfortunately, the rancor wasn't very put off by her display. She had to act quickly. She used the flatness of the blade to pry the boy's foot loose. Then, Katar grabbed him, got him on her back piggyback style, and used the Force to sprint into the jungle. The beast's footsteps were large, so she'd have to keep moving until she could find a way to lose it.

He screamed, who was this person, where were they going? "Let me down!" he yelled, "just... Put me down!" he yelled again as whoever it was ran into the forest, "just put me down... and I can kill that thing!" he yelled, he did have his grapple hook and a wrist blaster.
What kind of person stays that close to a rancor anyways?

Katar glanced at the boy as he screamed at her. She wasn't about to let him try and beat that thing on his own, whether he had skills or not. She kept running, shooting through the denseness of the deeper wilds faster than a bullet. There had to be a place to hide, somewhere, ANYWHERE..... Finally, she caught site of a very tiny little cove just below the edge of a cliff. It had vines covering its entrance, but she knew a cove when she saw one. She made her way to it. Once inside of it, she sat the boy down against the cliff wall. She stared directly into his eyes and put a finger to her lips to signal for him to stay silent. Already, the rancor could be heard in the distance. Her senses wer on high alert, paying attention to the creature's every movement.

Mit was scared straight, but he knew a warning when he saw one, so he kept quite, slowly he pulled off his helmet and looked at the girl that had-presumably- saved him. He listened to the rancor walking around, he knew he could kill it but he didn't know if the girl would let him. he slumped his head into his hands and tried to calm himself.

Silently, Katar crept to the vine curtain that was separating them from the outside. She lightly opened it so that the tiniest slit of light shined in, and peeked out. The animal was busy heading toward the farther part of the jungle, apparently interested in new prey. She backed away from the vines and turned her attention to the boy she'd picked up. She studied his face with her eyes, curiosity suddenly taking over. She inched toward him and began sniffing him, taking in his scent.

"Woah woah woah, hey take it easy." he said, curling up in the corner of the shelter. "Who are you, why did you save me, why were you so close to the rancor?" all his questions just flooded out. [member="Katar"]

Katar continued staring at him, her bright green cat eyes large and luminescent in the dim light. She pointed to herself and said, "Katar." A word she'd practiced saying the most often. At his second question, she shrugged. She didn't really have a reason for saving people other than she felt like helping. His third question was the tough one. How can you tell someone you've had a strange gift since you were a kid that allowed you to tame animals if you could only speak a few words? She decided to try her best. "G.....G......Gi-i-f-f-t....." She stammered. It bugged her how hard it was to talk. If only she didn't have to. It was so cumbersome!

"Im Mit by the way," he said, "Can I have my sword back?" he muttered a moment later

Katar nodded, a tiny grin forming on her face. He understood her! That took a load off of her. She held his sword out to him and sat down on her knees in front of him. "Mmmmit," She repeated carefully.
