SETTING INFORMATION
- Structure Name: Socorran Jedi Enclave
- Classification: School/Temple
- Location: Socorro
- Affiliation: Julius Sedaire
- Accessibility: Hidden in the midst of desert dunes and canyons, it possesses no particular stealth or defenses, other than being built into the face of cliff and occupied by Jedi Guardians and Undeground types. Moderately accessible if you know where to look.
- Description: The only external indicator of the Enclave is a solid door and semi-full wall, flanked by two sets of three pillars modestly carved. The rest of the Enclave is hidden within a warren of twisting tunnels and caves set back into the cliffs of the canyon, reinforced against seismic and sonic assault. Overall the place bears the fusion of both Corellian aesthetic and Socorran architecture, along with a touch of Jedi asceticism.
POINTS OF INTEREST
- Fighting Ring: A circular ring some couple of dozen yards wide, scattered with movable terrain and obstacles, with bleachers carved into the very rock rising from the black sand of said ring. Lockers flank off the ring with showers, equipment storage and repair, and even various fitness machines and the like.
- Med-Bay: Small, but imported directly from Denon, this bay is sterile and sleek, with the height of medical droids and tech due to the dangerous nature of training combat minded Jedi. A small suite for cybernetic fabrication and attachment is attached as a suite off the main med-bay.
- Meditation Garden: A peaceful garden full of black sand from Socorro and white sand from Corellia, a small underground stream of sweet water runs through it, providing both a pleasing visual and calming audio as well. In the midst of the garden of various plants sits a middling Force Sensitive Tree that somehow grows just fine underground. The rocks in the bed of the stream are particularly worn smooth and often taken as tokens of remembrance by students, having a faintly calming effect on the Force-sensitive, a byproduct of resting so long by the trees.
- Habs & Kitchens: Full service habs for a few dozen people and an expansive kitchen with a small bar and racks of whiskey and beer brewed in a cellar off to the side. Just about everything but the most exotic of fare can be found here, and the menu is ever rotating thanks to the many smugglers and wanderers who call the place home.
- Counsel & Meeting Chambers: Three small circular meeting rooms branching from a central meeting hub and grand hall that branch off from the main hall of the Academy, each Chamber has an advanced holo-map and fancifully masked and cloaked connections to the HoloNet and News, and space enough for a dozen or so occupants to be seated in chairs scattered about, and twice that many if standing room is required is in the main chamber.
- Main Hall: A high vaulted ceiling, with sunk in alcoves for relics and remembrances of Guardians past, ranging from weapons and armor on display to hovering holo-vid or other forms of art depicting those honored. Countless tunnels lead off from it to the various other places within the Enclave.
- Crystal Cave: Off the Fighting Ring in a near hidden tunnel lays a cave of kyber like crystals of varying hue, effect, and more. Once carefully tended and cultivated in the Old Republic days, they have been left to grow wild, with a pool of water suffused with the Force in the center. Some say a few of the crystals are sentient, slumbering in wait for their destined owner.
- Landing Pad: With space for roughly a dozen ships, depending on size, this pad is just outside the Enclave, hidden under an outcropping of rock. Weathered, beaten, and oft occupied by a surly Sullustan mechanic who is very vocal about the average disrepair of almost every ship that lands.
- Armory: Ranging from armor from various bad guys, to Jedi robes and armor to Spacers gear and even repair and moderate fabrication benches, the armory of the Enclave is second in size only to the Fighting Ring, and is perhaps one of the better cache of unique and exotic and dangerous implements of war to be found in the Galaxy.
SECURITY: Medium
- The Enclave is protected by thick walls, reinforced tunneling, blast doors as the only real entry and exit point to the outside world, and a swarm of Jedi Guardians and other scrappy occupants. No formal weapon emplacements or the like.
- The Old Republic built a Jedi Academy here for training Guardians of their Jedi Order. Such was the temple’s effectiveness that Emperor Palpatine set out to purposely destroy and raze it. Over time, the location was lost to memory until discovered by Julius Sedaire . With fits and starts, the rogue Jedi turned the run-down ruins into a hidden sanctuary of his kind, and so stands today the Socorran Jedi Enclave, a hive of do-gooders and nerf-herders set to stand against the darkness of the Galaxy and stick up for the common folk. And for exceptional warriors of the various Jedi order to be trained at.
