- Profiler $$+ The Solen 8 are capable of building profiles on key individuals or objects (e.g. ships) for later reference. The wearer can designate such subjects as Friend or Foe enabling instant recognition using the augmented reality overlay function.
- Slicer $$+ While not a form factor suited to rapid inputs, the Solen 8 can interface with proper slicing tools and interfaces via wire or wirelessly to provide visual feedback.
- Connected $$+ Able to send or receive communication signals, and connect to the holonet to retrieve data or construct a three-dimensional augmented reality overlay, the Solen 8 can provide quite the advantage during negotiations.
- Concealment $$+ Not all of the Solen 8's features are appreciated everywhere. Confronted, the dust-repellent static field can serve to conceal the true purpose of the energy signature coming from the glareshades. Confidential data (such as contacts and profiles) are stored in encrypted memory in case the shades end up in the wrong hands; and the shades' display will attenuate to prevent the text from being viewed by outside observers.

- Line of Sight $$- The Solen 8's design is as forward-focused as their wearer. While the proximity sensor can indicate if someone is drawing near out of sight, the detailed cameras and sensors are directed by the wearer's own eyes leaving them vulnerable to attack from behind or the sides if they're not careful.
- Confiscation $$- As a worn accessory, the Solen 8 can be seized by other parties. While the browser history, contacts, and other private matters might be secure, the existence and use of certain features may remain exposed if the wearer doesn't have the chance to lock the interface before they're taken.
- Vulnerable $$- Solen 8s won't flinch at the first sign of an electrical discharge, but they aren't bulky enough for oversized ion protection measures either. They're also capable of protecting the wearer's eyes from a high velocity kinetic impact, but that doesn't mean they'll survive a Mandalorian stepping on them.
- Field of View $$- The glareshade surface itself is only capable of displaying so much data or different functions at a time. Unlike a helmet's Heads Up Diplay where even the opaque surfaces can display information, the Solen 8 only have the surface of the shades themselves.
Dominique Vexx believes in one thing: herself. Deal-making, striking a balance between forces within the Corporate Authorities of Denon, and even consorting with the enemy (e.g. Darkwire)... there is little she won't do for her own comfort and authority. Things were going well too. The C.A.D. were heavy handed, and Darkwire unreasonable, but ultimately things worked out. Until certain elements thought they needed someone more malleable. Without the authority as Senator, Vexx's lifestyle and even her life were in serious jeopardy. That's when she took control of a side-project in District 3 to bring Rachne Industries into being.
From the center of her web at Rachne, Dominique had the Solen 8 constructed so she could always have her personal database of greed, envy, and pride at her fingertips. Negotiations with certain amenable members of C.A.D. were going to be rough especially at the start; she needed every ounce of leverage easily accessible at all times. She was also aware that once she started to make her moves, and an increasing number of her detractors became aware of her return, she'd become a target once more. The Solen 8's features were constructed to give her an advantage at survival. As someone not versed in war, they weren't meant to make her a formidable soldier or killing machine, but to enable her to make well-timed strategic decisions.
The more detail-rich functions can only be used one, perhaps two, at a time, which requires judicious use. Certain functions are far easier to use with verbal commands or precise touches to the temple as well; eye-movement can be used, but rapid accessing of data or toggling between functions would make the wearer appear unstable or suffering from a medical episode. While capable of accessing a massive amount of data, the Solen 8 are constrained by size and the desire to be discrete.
