DESCRIPTION
Although the predecessor to the Solo II - Class Combat Freighter was an impressive design by itself, the vessel lacked the versatility that was required for use in the modern era. Thus, the technical architects at the Republic Engineering Corporation had set about to reimagine the armed transport with all the technology they had at their disposal, and see that the vessel was adequately defended - ensuring that their cargo got to where it needed to go.

In order to see that this vessel was updated, the Solo II came with an integrated droid brain that would oversee and automate many of the internal systems, as well as assisting the command crew with operating their starship. This came in the form of slave-linked maintenance droids that were programmed to assist the crew in keeping the cargo bay orderly, and that the goods they were transporting were well-cared for.

With the internal systems handled, the external shell of the Solo II was reinforced with a secondary, and redundant layer of armour plating that was meant to sufficiently protect the cargo transport when their shields would inevitably fail. This was further enhanced with the strategic placement of its exterior array of weapon systems, which were designed to provide the combat ship with a vast swathe of firing arc’s to defend the vessel from.

However, there were some sacrifices to make in order to keep the ship within an acceptable cost margin.

These cutbacks were seen in the overall design of the starship, as the centrally mounted cargo bay gave the vessel a limited range of maneuverability due to the partially un-aerodynamic schematic. The other, and the most notable flaw was in the limited weapons found at the rear sections of the vessel, which meant that it would have to rely on the combat prowess of the automated quad laser turret to drive off any would be, and unwanted tails.

Hyperspace Sustainer: As interdiction warfare has emerged once more at the forefront of a myriad intergalactic skirmishes, the Solo II was fitted with a momentum sustainer to ensure that the starship was not dragged out of hyperspace before it reached its destination. An effective counter to the various blockades set up by governments and roving stellar bands of pirates.

Could you link this technology in the submission please?

Alright this seems almost alright for, however I think HIMS would be on the rarer side so could you drop this to Minor production for me please?

[member="Alric Kuhn"] - If that's the case, then any previous vessel at mass-produced should have their production ratings increased to minor as well to account for the rarity of the subsystem. As it's a widespread and very common thing in this era, both OOCly and ICly, I would like to keep the vessel at Mass-Produced.

After a quick consultation apparently the tech has become far more common than I thought and thus you are correct.

Given that, I'll punch this through.

I'm approving this, because there's nothing wrong with a HIMS at mass production in this day and age, but I am also leaving a reminder here that the factory does not operate off of precedents - and we are not retroactive.

If someone was told to lower production for the existence of something in their submission that also is on another submission done prior, under different circumstances and with different standards applied to the submission, the factory is not going to go back and change older submissions to adhere to newer standards, nor are past standards things which new submissions are beholden to (or lack of standards).

Simply, the factory does not operate on precedents. This has been the case since Factory 4.0 and has continued through Factory 5.0 (which has been the current iteration of the factory since 2 Jan 2018).

If you feel older submissions are not balanced, regardless of what standards were used, you are capable of reporting it; but past submissions are never going to be taken into consideration when judging a new submission. Referencing an older submission will only get you this notice - we do not adhere to precedents, which do not exist in the factory, and we are not beholden to past standards or future changes to standards in the factory.
