Something Clever About Force Barriers (Darth Ferus)

[Khan Ra]

Khan once again made his way through the hallways of the Sith Temple, heading towards the training rooms. There was many things Khan wished to learn, many applications of the Force that he did not yet know. Among those were a very useful power, used to create a defensive shield perfect for stopping blaster bolts or perhaps even lightsabers: Force Barrier. So Khan had searched for one willing to teach him the ability. Eventually, he had found one: A Zabrak named [member="Darth Ferus"]. He had heard little of the Darth, but that did not matter. He was willing to add another ability to Khan's arsenal, therefore he was useful. What else was important?

Soon, the door to whichever room Ferus was in opened, and Khan stepped inside.

Ferus sat within the room, right dead center and right on the ground. He looked to be in a meditative state, at least from the back, but in actuality he was heating himself some tea. As per his usual fashion, he held a small cup in his hand, and a purple flame heated it from below, he waiting for it to get to just that right temperature. But, as [member="Khan Ra"] came in the Darth would glance over to the cat man. Lifting the hand that was still on fire, he'd offer a wave.

"Yo, ya made it."

Khan paused almost as soon as he entered the room. His hand was on fire... A pyrokinetic? Khan blinked, noticing the cup of tea in his other hand. ...Was he warming tea? And... did Zabraks normally talk that way? The Felactian quickly regained his composure and gave a nod. It didn't matter; this man was a Sith Lord... And he was willing to teach Khan.

"I did. Darth Ferus?" He seemed somewhat suprised.

Ferus was a very, very odd man when he wanted to be. Part of this was just an act, to help keep others he didn't know from getting a read on him. The other part was actually him. Closing his hand to snuff out the flame, he would nod once to [member="Khan Ra"] in an answer. For now he kept sitting, idly sipping at his tea as he kept quiet for a moment or two. He seemed to be deep in thought, and in a way he was.

"So.. What did you need me again for?" Another part of the act. He was sure Khan wouldn't care who he was specifically, but there were others who would, and the Zabrak would keep up the facade for now.

Khan just blinked at the man for a moment while he sat there, drinking his tea and staring off into space. Fantastic... his trainer had the attention span of a squirrel. Khan was about to speak up, when [member="Darth Ferus"] beat him to it. ... Had he forgotten why Khan was here? ...

"To train... I contacted you to learn Force Barrier." Khan blinked again at the man as he continued to sip his tea.

(I can already tell this is going to be a very fun thread. XD)

"Riiiiight *Sip* you did. Alright." Finishing his tea, which was no quick affair, the red man would stand up and begin to stretch. First, both arms above his head, then his arms across his chest. He would visibly count out the seconds (to ten). "Force Barrier then. You understand the process on pushing or pulling with the Force yes? How you cause the force itself to move in a direction you want?" Beginning with the basics. Force Barrier was possibly one of the easiest to explain, for Ferus at least. He'd wait patiently for an answer, a fake yet genuine seeming smile on his face.

...Khan just stared at the man, not quite sure what to think of him. This Zabrak was a Sith Lord? Hm... The Felactian continued to watch the man somewhat skeptically as he set aside his tea, and began to stretch. Eventually, he started talking.

Now they were getting somewhere- the lesson was actually starting. "I do. Simple force Telekinesis- basic powers." The basic abbilities such as Push and Pull were the first things Khan had learned to do with the Force. If it was as simple as those, perhaps this wouldn't be too difficult at all...

"Good! It's practically the same thing. Well, actually, it isn't. To push or pull you make the Force move inn a certian direction. Left right, up down, forward back. Doesn't matter which. Now, for a barrier, feel the Force around you. But instead of pushing it or pulling it, freeze it in place. Compact it into a solid object." To demonstrate, the Sith Lord lifted up a hand. True to his words, he made the Force congeal in front of his palm, and slowly a faint shimmering would form. "Do not allow anything to pass through it. Knit it in such a way that it is a shield, blocking out everything but sight itself."

Khan listened carefully to the Sith Lord, paying close attention as he demonstrated the ability Khan had come here to learn. He was to compress the force into a solid object, a barrier. He could do that, could he not? How different could it be?

The Knight nodded, before raising a hand as [member="Darth Ferus"] did. The Force came when he called, forming around his hand as he would do when preparing to use it, as if preparing to conjure a strong Push. However, it seemed the Force would awnser Khan's earlier question for him: Pretty different.

The Felactian tried to form the Force into a solid barrier, a field of telekinetic energy directly in front of him... Instead, the Force manifested as something of a semi-solid blur that quivered like jello before abruptly collapsing into itself.

Khan blinked at the space where the air had shimmered briefly, where he had tried to conjure the field, much like a child might stare if they had seen candy before it suddenly disispeared before their eyes. Like most things, this wasn't going to be as quick as Khan had hoped.

​"Solid, not like jello." Ferus had gone back to his tea at this point, watching [member="Khan Ra"] more or less out of the corner of his eye. A purple flame licked about the bottom of his cup as he kept the liquid at just the right temperature. "Freeze it solid, do not let anything through. Like a net woven so very tight, that is you're goal." The weave wasn't something he normally used as an example, but perhaps it would help the monster cat in this situation.

A faint smile formed over his lips as he sipped at his tea again. Ra was a good student at least.
