Something from Something

It was a long walk down the observation corridor that overlooked a large hanger; deserted save the four fighters evenly spaced some twenty meters apart. Each of the craft had a singular spotlight glaring down on it, leaving the wingtips and rear thrusters peaking back into the shadow of the otherwise dark room. They weren't unique ships, just a limited run of which Domino had been lucky enough to snatch a few of them up before the seller enacted rather strict guidelines about selling. They were probably collector items to some now though, despite being something of one herself, she didn't see them that way.

Taking a lift down to the hanger proper, she stepped out into the cold chill of the room for a better look at the Deathbells. A team of mechanics would be arriving shortly and they would soon be disassembled and laid out over the floor in pieces. It wasn't an attempt at industrial espionage or to figure out how they worked or anything of the like. Domino just wanted to re-pourpose some of the parts into a new design, she wouldn't even be selling it or marking it as a Koensayr product. Ideally the final product wouldn't even be identifiable as one she'd made.

Behind her the main entrance to the hanger opened and her head project engineer came in followed by a team of mechanics. At his questioning Domino told the team that their main goal was to safely remove the PSIS-M system the fighter was equipped with along with all of the pontite crystals used in the cloaking systems. After that the systems themselves would be removed and studied, more because the Twi'lek was curious as to how Ri'ess Regal Drives had done it than to copy them. After the absolutely monumentous task of recreating the system for the Reason and all the finagled bits needed to cloak a ship that large, Domino was pretty sure she had a better grasp of the mechanics than whatever was used for these fighters. Still, it was best not to bet the whole race on that.

It didn't take long for Domino to succumb to a mixture of boredom and impatience and take up a wrench herself. An hour later she was smudged with grease and oil and happily disassembling a fuel line they'd drained. Haphazardly tossing the removed parts behind her for one of the droids scurrying about to pick up and place in its spot on the floor, she was taken by surprise when a section inside the hull lifted up a few centimeters before lowering to the ground. "That the sensor interference system?" She asked the tech through the now visible hole through the ship.

"Yes mam, uglier without the plastic casing they put on it for external mounts isn't it?" And the advertisements, she agreed before clambering down and signing off on it being taken immediately to a lab for further disassembly and study. "Remember, we want to be able to produce our own, so nothing too destructive in testing until we've got the other three out." Which shouldn't take more than a few hours, but Domino preferred to be careful. You never knew if the others would get damaged somehow. Alright, maybe it was industrial espionage on some level, but they wouldn't just be copying but combining the tech with other jamming technology and hopefully improving upon it in a smaller package. Anything seven by two by another meter plus was just way to big for almost any fighter-sized craft.

Returning to the fighter, she began trying to trace out the cloaking system and those crystals. She really didn't want to have to go hunt down more stygium or adegan. This time she wasn't very likely to get a friendly Jedi escort to Ilum, maybe an unfriendly escort off Ilum though.
