Something New

One fine Voss morning, Arisa was outside in the temple gardens with the latest batch of initiates to grace the halls of the Silver Academy, going through the seven classical forms of the lightsaber. By now she was onto the sixth form, and her personal favorite, Niman.

"Niman is an eclectic form that blends several other styles to create one moderate system that grants the user no particular advantages, but also no glaring weaknesses. It's a relatively easy form to pick up and deploy right away, making it a popular choice among Jedi less focused on combat for other pursuits like research or diplomacy. For this reason, Niman has often been referred to as the Diplomat's Form."

Following her introduction, she went through the motions of providing a small demonstration of the form like she had with the proceeding forms, first dispatching a fireteam of soldiers simulated by a hardlight projector setup up outside.

As they had begun to fire upon her from their entrenched position behind a barricade, she would quickly skip over to their left flank while deflecting fire with a whirlwind of slices through the air that created after-images of silver halos all around her. From the flanking position, she would have an easier time moving to attack, as their total output and firing angles were now limited by the threat of deadly crossfire.

The soldier closest to her would only just begin to swing his weapon around on her to fire when she sent him flying into the rest of his unit with a Force push to the chest. They toppled over like dominoes, leaving them totally helpless as she immediately followed up, dashing forward to cut them all down where they lay. As the last soldier was slain, that particular simulation would end.

The projector generated another simulation, summoning a towering Sith Lord clad in gleaming black armor. He immediately moved to engage Arisa, delivering a flurry of heavy blows characteristic of Djem So/Form V. A lesser bladesman could have been easily overwhelmed by such a battering, but she held the Sith Lord at bay with parries while constantly circling around to throw off his attacks and keep him from building a rhythm.

This continued on for a while until she decided to go on the offensive. When the Sith Lord made one especially mighty attack, she would deflect his blade with a backhand, protecting herself from injury by utilizing Tutaminis to dissipate the energy of the lightsaber at the point of contact. As the Sith Lord attempted to recover, she dismembered his right forearm with a swift flick of her blade. When he was distracted by the resulting agony, she repeated the motion against the wrist of his sword arm. One last cut to separate his head from neck and it would be done.

The Niman demonstration ended there, and Arisa would extinguish the silver blade before resuming speaking.

"I hope that gave you all a good idea of how Niman can be utilized. Contrary to popular belief, at the highest levels of use, Niman is quite effective in battlefield conditions and dueling scenarios. It's a pretty versatile style that encourages creativity, more strategic thought, and the incorporation of Force abilities. Niman also forms the foundation for Jar Kai, or dual wielding."

"Now, onto the seventh and final form, Juyo."
