[+] Eye for Perfection: Somnol took out his own photoreceptors after gaining his sentience, and replaced them with a variety of sensors. Now, instead of seeing light and color, he sees electromagnetic radiation, sound, vibration, heat, and motion, out to a range of 30 meters. These sensors do not rely on him to be "looking" in any one direction, so Somnol has a near-perfect picture of everything 30 meters around him at all times.
[+] Perfect Kinesthesia: Somnol has perfect kinesthesia. Using his sensor array, he can perfectly recollect and replicate any physical action that he witnesses and his body is capable of performing.
[+] Eidetic Memory: Somnol has a limited memory storage, but what he does have storage for, he remembers completely. He can also put his memory onto chips, and store them away for later use.
[+] Droid: Somnol has all of the advantages of being a droid, such as not needing to eat or breathe, having increased physical capabilities, and not necessarily needing all of his limbs to be functional.
[-] Blind to Imperfection: Somnol sees no need for seeing, and this is one of his greatest weaknesses. He doesn't have photoreceptors, instead relying on his other sensors for information. Therefore, he could miss important details to situations that his other ways of detection won't catch.
[-] Selective Memory: Somnol has to be selective with the data that he keeps in his storage. Having so much sensor data means that he must routinely purge memories he does not need.
[-] Bad Motivator: Somnol is not motivated by greed or fear, what other criminals might be looking for. Instead, he is looking for beauty. This means that he might be difficult to work with if one doesn't understand his motivations, or trivially easy to manipulate for someone that does understand him.
Appearance:
SOMNOL-716 is an unorthodox looking droid, to be sure. Delicate bronzium filligree laces his chassis, twirling and spiraling in hypnotic patterns. The form of the droid is humanoid, and deceptively thin and fragile-looking. The faceplate has no eyes, no mouth, nothing left to personify the being behind them. Only three intersecting dark creases remain. In his midsection, and behind his faceplate, there is a subtle glow from the mechanics within, a warm blue that highlights his metal chassis.
Somnol seems to ponder every movement he makes, never being hasty or flashy unless the times call for it. He barely shows any body language, or if he does, it is entirely deliberate and alien. He speaks quickly, however, in a clipped, proper tone.
Biography:
Somnol doesn't remember his own beginnings.
It is a personal sore spot for him, the fact that he doesn't remember what assembly line he hopped off of. All he knows is that his original form, a BLX-Labor Droid, was found on the trash world of Raxus Prime, where a clan of scavengers had activated him, hoping to sell him for some profit. They had performed a full memory wipe, but in the process, damaged his processing circuits. When he awoke, Somnol turned on the clan, and killed them with brutal efficiency.
After this, there is a large section of lost memory, but Somnol assumes he spent a few years repairing and upgrading himself, until he assembled a heuristic processor, and he was free to think for the first time. His first act as an individual was to remove his own photoreceptors, and replace them with a conglomerate of other sensors. It was then that he began to see beauty in things. the heating and cooling of lava, the sparks off of a broken droid, the song of wind through chimes. It was art, and for the first time, he appreciated it. He needed to find more.
SOMNOL-716 offered his service to a smuggler leaving the system, and began to hop the galaxy, doing everything with startling efficiency and clinical perfection. To what end? Even Somnol doesn't know. Perhaps he'll find it, in the search for perfection.
