SPECIAL FEATURES

Strengths:

  • Interdiction: Just as it had before, the Sondheimer II is capable of laying out an interdiction field thanks in part to the four gravity wells that are equipped.

  • Proprietary Weapons: This time around the interdiction cruiser bears First Order made weapons as opposed to the galactic standard, weapons that in the view of the nation hit harder and faster than the standard turbolaser.

  • Hazardous Waste Disposal: Her out of combat function remains the same, ensuring cleanup of hazardous waste and deadly radiation working to maintain a clean and healthy environment for all planets within the First Order
Weaknesses:

  • Forward Fix: The Sondheimer still bears her baradium missiles only this time they are forward fixed meaning the ship’s target must be out in front or otherwise the shot will go to waste.

  • Increased Output: Equipped with the new Howlback XII engines from SJFS, the Sondheimer’s exhaust has an increase in output, Making it easier for rockets and other heat-seeking missiles to find her quite easily.

  • Range: Her weapons work in standard range at best leaving her unable to fight properly in close quarters or at the long range.

Description:
As part of the ongoing Montague Program, the Sondheimer became the next project for the refit block. The goal was simple, maintain the Sondheimer’s out of combat function while fixing some of the drawbacks in her first run through. The first of which was her interdiction capabilities, she initially had to choose. Set down the interdiction field or go into full combat which meant removing the interdiction field.

Part of this problem had to do with the way the Sondheimer’s engineering had been done. Soon this go around Primo Victorian Shipwright and the First Order Naval Engineers worked with Seinar-Jaemus Fleet Systems. They built a new engine with the Sondheimer in mind and thus the Howlback had been created. The Howlback XII would see its first trial run with the new Sondheimer II.

Once the engine problem had been resolved the next step was to work on her weapons, while the team of engineers maintained the ship’s baradium missile complement. They ended up moving them into a fixed forward facing position. Their reason for doing so was to improve the overall weapon systems as they added the complement of gravity mine launchers mimicking the Assimilator-class ISD.

Her weapons platforms would be made entirely from proprietary hardware. This was part of the move to slowly turn away from using non-First Order gear. Using in-house weapons, engines and software the Sondheimer was starting to take shape as a fine First Order made vessel from bow to stern. The FIV Sondheimer II is set to debut within the next quarter the newline will roll out of the Anoat Sector.
