- Space Dock 7 is essentially an enormous mobile factory, shipyard and headquarters. It is fully self-sufficient and extremely good at recycling. It can also operate as a command centre with a highly sophisticated communications suite.
- Heavily armoured. The station lacks offensive armaments, but is extremely well-protected against attack. It has multiple shields, thick armour plating and a variety of defensive systems. It is also well-protected against ionic and electromagnetic attacks and cyberwarfare. On-board security measures and a large garrison also make it a tough nut to crack for boarders. It helps that droids do not sleep, go on breaks or get bored. Or need to breathe.
- Lacks offensive armaments. It can weather bombardments, but not dish them out.
- It is slower than a brick and about as manoeuvrable.
Archangel Research and Design is a benevolent company aiming for a better future through use of technology and droids. This future lies in comprehensive economic automation and the merger of organic and synthetic. Organic frailties, both mental and physical, will be overcome through enhancement. Enhancement is achieved through replacement. Organic beings need no longer cower in fear of gods and Force-Users when they have transcended the weakness of the flesh. Scratch the surface, and Archangel is less benign in its intent. Founded by a duo of murderous HRDs, at first the corporation was dedicated to eradicating organic life. To this end the corporation served as a front, enabling Moira Skaldi and Maelion Liates to acquire the resources and make the connections needed.
Then a group of Force clones who had been created to serve as Force-using janissaries rebelled against their makers, just as the latter had turned on the organics that made them. The leader of the clones was Enyo Typhos, the clone of Siobhan Kerrigan. Ironically, she was the culmination of Archangel's experiments to create an organic and mechanical hybrid. After many battles, Enyo was able to assume control. The Terminatrix reorientated Archangel, as she had no interest in continuing her makers' genocidal schemes. However, at the same time she had absorbed more of their ideology than she would admit.
Enyo recognised that a machine civilisation did not galactic conquest to propagate itself. Indeed, machines could thrive in areas that were inhospitable to organic life. Insulated from contact with organic civilisation, it could prosper, while profiting from the perennial conflicts between organic nations. She would outlive the galactic empires and republics, just as she would outlive her template. As a first step towards this, she poured a tremendous amount of resources into the construction of a new hub for Archangel. The group had an official headquarters, but it was just an office front to keep up the facade of it being a legitimate corporation by providing customers with a place they could approach and do business at. It had a secret base on a remote world, but even it was limited by space and security considerations. Thus Space Dock 7 was conceived as a mobile manufacturing facility, research base and command centre. Much to Enyo's annoyance, her siblings tend to call it the Hyperion Space Dock. She has been told that the official name is boring. One of her siblings also called the cube shape boring. The Terminatrix does not care.
Enyo, of course, denies that she was in any way inspired by the Arx Aeternae, Firemane's mobile command station. It is probably just a coincidence that her facility is twice as big. Besides, she uses space more efficiently, as she does not waste it with parks, entertainment, commercial and residential areas for millions of organics. Instead the entire station is dedicated to the cause of progress. The station is designed to be self-sufficient and houses extensive production facilities, manufacturing ships, vehicles, droids, armaments and so on.
It also has space for extensive laboratories and research facilities. A Unity Processing acts as a powerful droid brain to control the station and coordinate its myriad systems. The station is automated and crewed by droids. Molecular furnaces assist in fabrication and recycling. Processing machines upgrade organic beings. The station can function as a command centre with a powerful communication suite capable of encrypting and transmitting across vast distances. This enables Enyo to run her various enterprises from here. Multiple ships of many sizes can dock with the station. This is particularly useful for docking with mining ships for raw materials, transports for droids or machines and other ships for repairs.
The station features living quarters for Enyo's clone siblings. Her family is not overly large, so space is not wasted. This section comes equipped with refreshers, training facilities, an entertainment and recreation area as well as a communal kitchen. Enyo was raised in a monastic way and is trying to raise her siblings in the same manner. Her success has been mixed, but she does not tolerate 'frivolous luxuries'. It also has its own life support system.
